Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] Just go out and have fun

8xp - Essence 2
6xp - Viridian Legend Exoskeleton - 4 Soak for a scene and can be increased to 6 if in shintai.
4xp - Appearance to two

Or maybe we buy the denarian-be-gone-ritual and get Lasciel out of Harry.

Wait you want to use Sapphire Exorcism on Harry,, who only has a shadow in his head?

...

I mean it will work, that is kind of Ancient Sorcery's thing, it is limited on what effects you can pry from the maw of ages but it has primacy. The thing is it will produce a Lasciel fetich soul outside of Harry and outside the Coin, it's exorcism not banishing from whence it came, so once it is out of Harry the spell has done it's job. If you did it to a full Fallen inside its host it would return to coin but metaphysically Lash belongs in Harry's head until he picks up the coin or he dies... or she dies as she did in White Night. If you unbind her from that with Sapphire Circle Exorcism Usum's best guess is she would be loose in the world as a spirit.

Still getting definite weird vibes from Lydia. Not sure if she's got a supernatural background or is just supernatural-adjacent, but there is definitely something odd going on. Odd doesn't necessarily mean bad, it's just concerning.

@DragonParadox, if we used our Crown to learn Lydia's lineage, just how comprehensive would the answer be? Would we just learn how Human she is or is not, or would we get more info, like her parents' names, place of birth, species, etc?

[X] Ask a question of your Crown

[X] Just go out and have fun
-[X] Take Lydia to an arcade where she can play some video games, against people and machines. And Daniel can try to win her a prize.
-[X] Stunt: Steer the group to machines and games which could surreptitiously reveal whether or not Lydia possesses unusual or even superhuman physical skills and attributes such as speed, strength, dexterity, etc.

You would get what each of her parents are, human or no, in term of level of detail you would get say 'what kind of demon' is she was demon blooded, but not the being's name.

Other Ancient Sorcery for consideration later is the Gate opening, as it would essentially serve as our demat spirit killer.

Since we if they flee to the Nevernever we could just follow and sword them.
And there is this one I also like.

Burning Eyes of the Offender
The sorcerer speaks the 17 secret names of divini-
ty, causing her anima to sear the eyes of all those who
dare to look upon her. Anyone attempting to stare di-
rectly at the sorcerer weeps uncontrollably.
System: Spend 3 Essence and make an extended
Intelligence + Occult roll against difficulty 7. Once the
player accumulates five successes, the spell is complete,
and her anima burns with terrible light. Anyone at-
tempting to attack her or otherwise move against her
raises the difficulty of their actions by +2. This spell
lasts for one scene, or until the sorcerer claps her hands
and bows her head to end it prematurely.

Thinking on it, this was a very Charity thing to do; Lydia is probably going to have déjà vu when she gets invited over to meet the parents. :V

I don't think we should go fishing with the crown like this. All we have is suspicion at the moment, and doing supernatural background checks on people at the drop of a hat is probably an unhealthy habit to get into socially speaking.

So we could capture her in a bottle like a legend of Zelda faerie? "Hey! Listen" just got a lot more threatening.

I'd feel bad about doing it to Lash, but I'm tempted to abuse this to capture and kill Denarian Sub-Souls until the repeated spiritual icepick lobotomies put them into a coma. Which is pretty awful, but they are Denarians.

… This should probably go on the bad idea list shouldn't it?

-[X] Make a probing joke that she is pretty like an elf. If she was a fairy she would tell us, right?

Huh, now that sounds interesting.. :V

I kinda want to do that, even though it's a very bad idea.

-[X] Time to hit the clubs!

Random question, can Arcana become Formori?
Essence Directing Stare is a 3 dot charm for 12XP and it doesnt give nightvision.
The only charm that does is Witness to Darkness and possibly Rage Recast buying a Shintai Aspect.

Mechanically, the spirit vision is maybe the very watered down equivalent of the ointment that the Gatekeeper Rashid gave Dresden in canon. Well, a little between that and a very watered down version of the Three Eye potion from Storm Front.
Nothing all that complicated.

Nightvision is your standard issue nightvision goggles that already exist IRL as purely mundane items used by soldiers, police and hunters; scientists at UMichigan actually made a prototype of nightvision contact lenses in 2014.
Yeah, I'm aware, it just comes down to me being unsure if spending time and XP on something we're not gonna stop needing eventually is wise. It's not like the armor and shield which will stack with later upgrades, the glasses will be completely replaced.

As a sidenote:

Radiant Blast Indemnity (•)
While the sight and sound of the nuclear annihilation Ravana dreams of may boil a mortal's eyes out of their sockets and shatter their eardrums, Lanka will not be so inconvenienced.

System: The Infernal is immunized to penalties from bright lights and loud noises, being physically and emotionally unbothered regardless of intensity. Physical damage from heat and shockwaves are not negated, but the infernal's vision and hearing will not be impeded regardless of intensity.

This was my attempt to homebrew a charm to pull double duty in removing the downsides to Witness to Darkness as well as the Flayed Alive version of Hateful Wretched Noise (the Adorjan charm that gives you super-hearing at the cost of making you need to spend willpower to avoid killing anyone who speaks above a wisper.)

Also, in response to the current situation: an attempt at rewriting a canon charm for EvWoD:

Insignificant Embers Intuition (•)
The heart of Lanka burns jealously, invisible tongues grasping like talons at the lesser flames smoldering in other souls.

System: The Infernal pays 1 Essence and for the rest of the scene may discern the strength and aspect of any target's Essence relative to his own. The Storyteller should communicate this information numerically, even though the experience is more abstract and typically involves some form of personalized synesthesia.

Anyone observing this Charm in use may notice a momentary green glint that flashes in the Infernal's eye with a reflexive (Perception + Alertness) roll at difficulty 4. This telltale sign does not make the Charm Obvious, so astute observers will have to draw their own conclusions.
This Charm is not a means of bypassing stealth and costs no motes when activated by Infernals with Essence 4+, though it still requires a Charm activation.

A charm that can immediately tell us whether the person in front of us is a supernatural.

I'm kind of new at making homebrew charms, particularly for EvWoD, so I'd appreciate some feedback. I'm particularly uncertain of the dot level for RBI, if IEI should be a scenelong or if it should need recasting for every use, or if anything should need rolled for it to work.

Note that in WoD, most supernatural creatures can become fomori. In ExWoD celestial exalted can't but dragon blooded ones can.

However, only the Hell of Burrowing Maggots fomori creation charm can make supernatural fomor, the rest only work on mortals.

I wonder if we could use the arcade to test Lydia for supernatural attributes? For example, if she's unnaturally good on a DDR machine without having ever even seen one before, or if she hits a punching machine (or whatever those things I vaguely recall from my childhood are called) like Mike Tyson, that would be a pretty good sign that she's not a common muggle.

That is certainly doable as a stunt.

Cool, adding that to my vote.

Okay why lineage that is incredibly vague? Why not supernatural elements of her life?

Asking who they are, their fears, their interests now that's unhealthy asking what they are and to who their related is just common sense.

Your power is not a literal genie, nor is it trying to trick you. Both would return the same answer, the only difference is is she is not supernatural the lineage one will give you any mortal noble lines or other families of note in her background.
Supernatural elements in her life should include interactions with supernatural that she does and doesn't know though right?

Not worth a crown question.

Because asking like that answers a lot of questions, as DP said:

Not only would we learn about any exotic ancestry she might have, but also her muggle ancestry, which can also be very informative. We could also probably learn if she's got the gift to learn magic.

That reminds me, if we do go to the arcade, if she's a practitioner of some sort we might see a reaction in the surrounding technology.
