Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] Sure, you'd like to know more of what's down there

I have wanted to do that for awhile.

She won't be lost if we are there to keep an eye on her. Worse comes to worse we pop home and back with her in tow.

To be clear, that's committing to an expedition next month or later, we still go into the weird well first, finish the Boston arc and only then have that Labyrinth on our schedule?

So we didn't need to make one then. Need to keep in mind all the resources we have access to, don't need to craft it ourselves everytime when we have limited regents.

Technically that is just committing to sponsoring her expedition, you do not have to accompany her, though I suspect most people will want to if it gets voted.

:V
"Behemoth piss, you are her aren't you?"
Apparently Flick's answer is profanity and an attempt to rope Molly into her work.

We really do have the best people.

Seriously though, I'm impressed by her composure. Not so much because we're clearly all high and mighty or something, but because the size of the power gap only marginally influences the significance of meeting what's basically your creator.

To be fair, the cost of a 2 dot prodigy like we were planning to build is 10 motes spent across a 2 hour ritual and whatever materials we choose to make the base form from. Technically you can make it out of whatever fits for a functional tool of the type you want.

3 dots have a reagent cost, but it's vials of vamp blood and potent magical plants instead of dead monsters. Only the 4-5 dot levels require that, and it seems implied that they don't require the same quality as splendors since that would make very little sense.

We'd have regenerated 8 motes over the course of actually making it, so the cost would be minimal.

This is much better though, because demonpunk stealth armor.

I will say this much, Flick's intimacies play into her reaction here as much if not more than her willpower reaction. Also you guys made some pretty humble speeches, both times you got into the whole God Empress thing.

I do rather hope that we can get out of that eventually as Molly grows into the role.

That's fair. I'm not trying to get high on our own supply here; ultimately even within her Hell Molly isn't exactly an all powerful, all knowing, and deeply wise creator being any more than she is outside of it.

Flick's reaction is a reasonably healthy one, in that she basically treated Molly like a powerful but readily approachable person.

It just seemed worthy of note given how central faith seems to be in the FCF, even with those speeches. I figured we'd need more time before we'd be able do stuff like to pop into a dive bar asking for people by name without making them uncomfortable.

Just to note here, the reactions of world-class masters do not reflect the general populace. Getting to five dots is a trip.

We should do and record masterclasses. Also, perhaps, hold some sort of grant proposal, where in addition to or instead of money / resources we provide Molly's direct collaboration on projects that are judged to have the most potential. Have various labs and artisans submit their ideas, have an open competition, then reward the winners with the honor of working together with us to make the idea real (and also joint patent ownership maybe?). Maybe do something for children like that, where we develop a new toy / gadget / whatever based on children's designs?

Could be great politically, and would also help Molly's image as god empress. Because right now, Molly's most superhuman abilities are combat and craft / magic. We should show them off.

We should likely take the rulership AP action first if only to get a better handle on things before we disrupt all the funding everywhere.

Now that you mention it, I wonder if prodigies either have stronger effects or contain more useful information on the laws of magic in Molly's hell.

The system text doesn't have any support for it, but look at the fluff:
At every step of the construction process, the Exalt weaves
whispered blessings and minor spells into the Prodigy. Its inner surfaces are carved with hair-
fine sigils of power. Its steel is tempered with songs of glory. At the end of the physical
construction process, the character rolls (Charisma or Intelligence) + Occult against difficulty (4
+ Prodigy rating). Success means the Prodigy has been properly prepared and is ready to receive
an infusion of power to uplift it from mundane object to divine panoply.
To awaken a Prodigy, the Exalt must enact a ritual lasting (Prodigy's rating) hours, during which
she infuses it with her divine Essence. (Prodigy's Rating x 5) Essence must be spent to properly
catalyze vessel and enchantments.

Seems like blessings formed by the same mind and essence that shaped the world would be very interesting to people trying to construct things to operate within it.

As to the grant thing; I think it'd be more interesting to lean into a different theme here.

The thing that frightens the council, that had the potential to be a massive change to the world, isn't the FCF collection of 5 dot sorcerers. It's the Industrialization of magic.

That's a process that took humanity from hand made tools and muscle power to atom bombs in less time than it takes to build up a reasonably skilled wizard.

Leaning into making stuff that can be made at scale would be fun.

Stuff like Talen which are already meant to be mass produced, though with a greater body of effects, or Balefire Flamethrowers which are already effectively the same.

Glad someone already made this option, was about to do it myself. If she gets bored waiting for us, then she can explore Earth in the meantime, but we will eventually visit the Labyrinth.

Sorry if this is intentional on your part, but your votes are still missing the "X-s".

It was, but it's time to put in the X anyway. When I post a vote right after the story post I tend to not actually cast my vote in it. Someone could post something else better or just straight up refine it, so I leave the X out to remind myself to vote with deliberation once the options are solidified.

It's more of a suggestion than a solid vote at that point, a place to consider and build from if needed.

Sooooo much this!

I do like Yog's ideas about master classes, but also agree we should probably do some rulership actions before we deep dive into messing with funding too much. Do we even know how their economy works?

I mean, not only are we the head of government, we are the head of church as well. I bet we could just let it be known we are interested and ask anyone who is willing to donate only what they can easily afford to donate and flood her project with cash. When 5 billion people all contribute a dime it's still 500 million dollars.

Talens are interesting. It makes me wonder how the research on the Red Court vamps is going. If all our agents had a Bane Bullet geared towards Red Court vampires they might have been able to take down Dragon in a single volley. They be even better against smaller Vamps given that they auto hit even against invisible targets. Gives a whole new meaning to "This bullet has your name on it".

Of course the BaneFire flamethrower are even more dangerous, unfortunately also to their welders. Then again Gurvel might be able to handle it. A troop of Gurvel with Banefire flamethrowers would burn though all opposition until their ammo runs out.

Edit: 10 of those things take down Molly in a single round no save. Then again with the flavor of Banefire Molly might be as immune to it as her own green fire. I quote "Balefire is a tainted form of fire, an unholy green flame fueled by the corruption of the Wyrm." And "it has certain characteristics of radiation and is usually employed near nuclear sites." Sound similar?
