Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Underlined errors in order of reading:

"That's me, a broken tulip, see how rare and wondrous I am," the words sound playful, as though she had nary a care in the world, but there is something to the way her shoulders shift, as though bracing for a blow the quick flick to get a lock of hair out of her eyes that evokes vulnerability.

blow, the not blow the

The word 'sacrificed' hits your mother like a physical blow as she sees herself, not in Lash's new humanity in the alien, pure expression of hatred.

humanity, but in not humanity in

This all seems sensible to me, but I am a little confused why you're including 'Let Harry and her go their way' as well as 'offer something'. The former seemed a pretty way to put the 'offer nothing' option, it seems kinda obvious even if Molly is offering stuff she's not gonna try to prevent Lash from going where she wants.

Ok, yeah. Removed that.

I think offering her space in the station is a mistake. Not because it's risky or costly, but because Lash is in a delicate position this early in her new life and having Harry, her biggest emotional connection, around would probably be helpful for keeping her stable.

We've seen clear indications that she expects negative reactions from people and is interpreting them in the most negative possible way, so easing her into things is probably better than leaving her with strangers for long periods of time right at the start.

A few weeks with Dresden before she moves out or makes whatever permanent arrangements suit her seem like a better place to start from.

Really we should probably have Molly make sure to set aside time to talk with her too, and help cultivate her social circle so she gets positive social contact without ending up dependent on one person.

Edit:
[X] Plan Clear Her Head
-[X] Some money to get herself on her feet
-[X] Make a point to socialize with her regularly over the next month at minimum.

Harry lives in an old boardinghouse redone as a few apartments right? That sounds a lot cheaper than a full apartment complex. I'm almost tempted by the idea of buying his building and getting a unit in it for Lash, so that she can be nearby to her only positive intimacy and have her own space at the same time.

Also because being Harry's landlord sounds hilarious. :V

Maybe we could introduce her to Rosie too? She's aware enough to be honest with, but new enough that she won't flip her lid at the idea of a new category of demon.

Lydia would be a good option, but if her dad goes off hearing about the situation it might be a problem.

I'm not too worried about the documentation stuff, because Lash remembers a lot of Denarian bullshit. She's probably better at getting fake docs worked up than we are, and if she isn't we can handle that later.

[X] Let her and Harry go on their way

She won't have any trouble getting money I believe.
She can offer a rich person anything they might desire, remember?
And she would not only get money out of the bargain, but also a thrall she has considerable power over.

I suspect Lash will spend her first month (or first few months) of existence with acquiring some Backrounds.

Her powers are made to get minions, contacts, resources and allies, her Pact alone offers a lot in that direction, but Lore of Longing enhances the social basis at no cost (not as good as an Excellency, but free to use) and Lore of Flesh increases her options for offerings outside of formal Pacts significantly.

It helps that she seems very low torment, so all her powers will lean towards angel instead of demon in appearance.

Also the red war. The wizards are too paranoid (and with good reason to be fair), but organizations like St. Giles are already made up of people willing to take crazy risks and who have to deal with what red venom does to people. Immunity/resistance to mind control alone would be very tempting to them if it can be stretched to cover biological attacks. Which feels reasonable for a demon with the lore of flesh.

She could probably make a killing with the right contacts.

I think it would be a really good idea for 'Tiffany' to spend her time learning how to use her abilities and exploring their potential in a more permissive environment like Molly's hell, rather than on the streets of Chicago.

She could be much more open about offering pacts there with entities used to bargaining with spirits and with trans'human'ism.

If she's in Molly's hell she should also be vastly harder to find.

Given how much she's manipulating Harry separating them is also a good idea. Both for her benefit to wean her off developing any dependency on him, and also because it's safer for him.

Personally I'm not willing to extend her quite that much trust. This whole thing could still blow up on us after all.

Even setting that aside, her only real positive intimacy right now is Dresden. I think he needs to be there to help her through the transition, and he has a life here that can't just be put on pause.

Note that I specifically indicated "until she finds a place of her own", and I added "if she wants to". I think it's important to give her an option. Yes, Harry is a better one, but neither she, nor Harry, should feel pressured into this.

Should I clearly write "unless Harry has a spare couch" or something like this?

I am stealing this one.

A lot of that involves using infrastructure established over millenia she has no access to. It costs us nothing to help with this.

She is definitely under the line where she has to use high Torment powers, you saw that just from her true form and from the fact that she is using read emotions so freely it is pretty clear she has no fear of them accidentally coming out high Torment, but between the feeling Molly gets that she expects the worst of mankind and the inhuman rage against her progenitor she has some amount of Torment.

His landlady Mrs Spunkelcrief is a widow who lives on the first floor.
And the other tenants, the Willoughbys are also elderly and live on the second floor.
Her husband died there a couple years ago.

She's not going to sell. Or move. It took the house burning down in Changes to change that.

What might be feasible is buying either one of the neighboring houses on either side?
Or the apartment building opposite his house.
The one that the sniper tried to shoot Gorfels from back in the first story arc.

Offer a premium on the market value of anywhere from 50-100% to get the current occupant to sell, ward it with a house god, and offer Lash something like a ten or twenty year lease there on one of the floors.

Then park one of the two squads of Brass Court agents on the other floor.
Plus/minus a pack of dog fomor courtesy of Inner Devils Unleashed. Alternatively, bird fomor; I favor either ravens or crows, both of which are, iirc, year-round residents of the Chicago area.

That accomplishes multiple goals at once, by both securing the city block against surveillance, and increasing the threshold required for fuckery in the region.

Buying a house like Harry's residence will presumably be less than a million, even with us overpaying.
Maybe two million tops. We could afford it; it just requires devoting an AP to the process, including laundering Resources and doing some of the leg work that Thomas cant do as quickly, and warding the house.

[X] Plan Identity
-[X] Offer something
--[X] Some money to get herself on her feet
--[X] Documents to legalize her identity
--[X] A place to stay at the Last Station until she can find her own, if she wants to.
--[X] Improving protections of whatever place she chooses to stay at
-[X] Make a point to socialize with her regularly over the next month at minimum.

Most of these cost us nothing. Money below reducing resources, Documents through Thomas and IRIS, a temporary housing at Last Station (that's a bit dangerous, but it's temporary, and the place is a target already), and improving defenses - that one might cost an AP, but if she stays with Harry (and I think she will), that's worth it.
Im on board with everything here except the Last Station bit.

Remember what happened with the Will of Kakuri?
Last Station is not currently up to taking an attack by multiple Fallen and their minions, not without the potential for major casualties among the residents. The defenses are better, but not that much better. Not against Denarians.

Lash needs to be up top, where the Denarians will at least have to worry about discretion, instead of in Undertown where they can choose to cut loose without worrying about observers.

If Lash is worried about the security of last Station then there are many things that she can do to beef it up.
