Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[x]The 'Slick' given the kinds of enemies they are fighting the ability to slip unseen and still pack a punch is likely to be the most valuable
-[x] SUV and truck discrete and dull color, the front a complex arrangement of instruments to serve as a mobile command center. In the back a housing rack of drone carriers. Fly by drones with micro missiles, stealth drones silent, and able to hover for hours over target to feed data to agents, and provide targeting solutions, to ground agents, and other drones, Gunship drones like the HMP able to accompany agents to provide sustained fire support.

Simple, but very useful, for stealth operations, and once things go hot, deploying small drones to increase available firepower with disposable assets.

Nacreous diamond can certainly do all that. For those who don't know, it's basically a composite of flakes of diamond suspended inside a polymer and linked with short carbon nanotubes. The result is a material that can flex instead of shattering, but in extremely hard all while being very light.
APFSDS might be able to pierce an IFV with nacreous diamond plate from sheer sectional density... but anything short of that will really struggle.
Doing it this way also means we don't have to deal with the manufacturing hell of making long unbroken carbon allotropes.
Molly can already handle creating long unbroken carbon isotopes because TTC cheats.

The armor she's wearing right now is composed almost entirely out of long unbroken nanotubes:
A dissonant chime rings like nails on a chalkboard tapping and so you rush to open the oven, the heat inside precisely calibrated so that the chill of your hands would cool the grey sheets just so. From fire's leavings, from humble charcoal you made graphite and then in clouds poison smoke restrained by a bending of your will arc lighting dances and sheets of carbon one molecule thick bend into nanotubes so that your armor might be tough where it needs to and supple where it can afford to.

It's just iron and carbon, some of the most common elements of the earth you know but woven together as they had never quite been before under the power of your tools under the deftness of your hands...
The bit about circles is actually a great idea:

--[] Inscribed into the bodies and armor are lines of silver the form interlocked magical circles, each doing it's part to shield the vehicle's occupants from magic. Even the circuit boards - made with more conductive silver rather than gold - are laid out to make the hex of magic flow over them.
Not sure it's quite that easy to block hexes, but DP did say we could build something mundane in a way that would make it harder to effect with magic so something like this should be possible.

Seems a shame to stay caught in the middle though. If we're already playing with nanomaterials doing silly bullshit while we're at it would be fun.

A lot comes down to how runecasting works.

@DragonParadox can a rune caster like Gard charge a rune if someone else makes the physical vessel or is it something enchanting?

I ask because I'm curious about exploiting our atomic engineering with their casting system. We can't enchant things, but if we could make a substrate that they could easily stick power into that supported repeated use of their weird pseudo-enchanting system it could let us do some spicy stuff.

Like making that diamond armor @CyberFemme mentioned, but shaping a ludicrous number of runes out of carbon nanotubes/chains of nano structures doped with symbolically relevant materials like silver, gold, or whatever works best for the runes in question.

Simplest application would probably be something like magical reusable ERA via force blasts or something like that.

Gard is not a crafter, she is not someone with power over material things, but for someone who can cast runes into items yes they can be items someone else forged/made so long as they are of sufficient quality, so no running up broken coke cans or even mass produced flack jackets, but what you are making can be invested with runes of war and fate, that is a good part of the reason why Odin asked you to make these things, there aren't many people who can make bespoke armored vehicles.

Just a reminder. We can make any shiny surface invulnerable via Alchemy.

Now obviously, just relying on that is risky as hell but by building a good vehicle + retractable armor that works even without Alchemy +Alchemy should make it something special.
MIrrored, not shiny, but yes, I remember.

[X]The 'Slick' given the kinds of enemies they are fighting the ability to slip unseen and still pack a punch is likely to be the most valuable
-[X] TTC, MHM, BSM, WHWH Craft, Occult, and Leadership Excellencies, ATB with willpower for quality control
-[X] Full environmental isolation suit. The inside of the vehicle is to be an environmentally sealed capsule with its own air regenerating supply, and protection from elements. Invoke TLF to make environmental protection systems.
-[X] MIrror coating both on the outside and on the internal elements of the vehicle. Put a coat of paint over the external one to make the vehicle stand out less.
-[X] Internal weapons, both hidden weapon compartments, and inbuilt weapons, such as guns, gas and grenade dispensers.
-[X] Inspiration: Knight Rider, James Bond cars
-[X] Rugged and redundant systems to counter techbane, ideally stuff like hydraulics running in parallel to electricity running in parallel to air pressure running in parallel to purely mechanical systems, so if one or two or even three fail, at least one will still work.
-[X] Stunt: You wanted to make this for your father - you both like Knight Rider after all. You still will, and this is something of a prototype. Illuminated by your anima, a giant flatscreen TV materializes, displyaing a 3D model and technical drawings of what to the outside observer would look like a normal, if high end, car. WIth ease unpracticed yet still perfected you start giving orders to your new unpaid interns - the materials to gether, the cauldron to put on fire, and the actions they would need to take in order to assist you in assembling this.

So, I specifically leave the things vague as to the design itself. I mostly concentrate on what charms to use. WHWH is not concealable, not really. And I'd like to point out that they might be able to tell about how we do craft even during their service - there was no secrecy clause. So we might even consider using CCC hack. Still, I held back on that one.

@DragonParadox would it be valid if we suggested making an animating intelligence for the car? We have experience in making Bane. Would our hosts have knowledge to setup something similar with our help for the car after it is assembled? Bane, as I understand it, is not inherently loyal to us, so this doesn't run into the same issue as cyberdevils do.

Making a small god for one car might be something you can do, making one for several cars without the relevant charms or spells... no, that is sadly beyond Molly. Look into crafting and/or Emerald spirit binding if you want to do that with any regularity.

While the design involves a lot of features that are non applicable for various reasons (such as being Mage specific) my Matter mage's discrete mobile command center design has some features that might be worth stealing:

Physical description: a plain white box truck of the type ubiquitous in cities for deliveries. The cargo compartment has a sliding door connecting it to the cabin (which technically makes it a cargo van). Barely visible thin lines of grey stretch accross the hood and grill. These are actually tiny blades of siderite (perfected iron) acting as windbreaks to literally cut through the wind.

While defaulting to white the paintjob is actually a thin layer of adamant (perfected glass) glaze over electrochromic material, allowing various logos and paint jobs to be programmed in for display.

The superstructure is constructed using amalgams of siderite and kassiterum, taking advantage of the resulting material's nigh-indestructibility to cut down on the amount of material actually used in construction: meshes, thin strips, wire-like rods, and metal foams all cut down on both weight and material requirements. The perfect electrical and heat conductance of brontium is made use of in the electrical wiring and engine design.

The inside of the cargo bay is an operating center that also provides all the necessities of a small apartment in the case of an extended stake-out or long trip. The decor follows a strict adherence to spatial minimalism, foldability, and multi-use spaces while not abandoning an aesthetic of plushly indulgent luxury. Silk, leather, topaz, generous padding, and various woods all come together in rich "warm" colors.

Other features
  • Runflat tires using perfected metals for the support ring
  • omni directional visual, thermal, and kirelean cameras for surveilance, active drive assistance, and parking assitance.
  • silent engine with an audio system faking the noise and/or emitting infrasound
  • alkahest toilets: perfected water's ability to act as a universal solvent handily prevents any unfortunate smells.
  • A combination of steam distillation and alkahest rinses allows one of the larger water tanks built into the forward wall to double as a bath and sensory isolation float-tank without significant water loss, additional space usage, or risk of contamination. At no point is alkahest allowed near the bather though lest it dissolve the flesh from their bones.
  • privacy screens can be pulled out from the walls and used to cordon off small portions
  • six foldaway armchairs in the ops-room around the central display table that lowers from the ceiling. The chairs can rotate to face foward in and also have seatbelt webbings that can act as crash harnesses.
  • portions of the central display table can be folded out to create drafting tables and the underside of it is lined with drawers containing tools and cosmetics (the drafting table can be set to reflective mode)
  • hammocks can deploy from the ceiling and pairs of the armchairs can fit together to form beds.
  • the seating cushions nearest to the doors can double as medical gurneys
  • seat warmers with massage function (lol)
  • touchscreens in surface of the meeting table and a tray that pops up for each chair.
  • an orrery and multiple astrolabes engraved with Hidden High Speech acting as an occult analytic tool via creating lexicographically valid high speech descriptions. (As in "It can't use process X to do Y if the Forces tranformation it uses to set things on fire follows methodology Z. They're incompatible since Z would require Mars to be in a different astrological house")
  • extensive Hidden High Speech embedded in the artwork and furniture describes several Supernal Entities of Pandemonium however their arrangement forms a taxonomy of healthy mental states and relaxation,
  • the well-stocked kitchenette makes use heat from the engines and drive system in order to provide stove surfaces instead of just microwave.

---[X]Slick: Modified Suburban
---[X]Heavy: Boxer AFV
--[X]Boiling Sea Mastery, Without Honor, MHM, ATB, Craft, Occult and Leadership Excellencies
-[X]STUNT: Your breath comes out in a white cloud in the chill of a New England autumn, even as around you teams of elves focus on subcomponent fabrication and assembly. A thought calls up additional industrial tools from the depths of your anima, and you begin to work on the first of several sets of computing hardware to support the vehicle designs that Clippy is currently projecting at the far end of the workspace.

DETAILS

SLICK
Chevrolet Suburban-class 5 door, 4-wheel chassis. ~3 tons. 3-row, 7-seat capacity: Driver, shotgun, five passengers in two rows.
Hybrid electric powertrain with high density battery and capacitors and silent, electric-only mode for acoustic stealth.
All wheel drive with rear-wheel steering and regenerative braking. Run-flat tyres. Color-changing paint. Switchable license plates.

Layered fullerene/alchemical mirror-metal armor, rated for STANAG 4569 Level 3/3B+ protection(7.62x51mm armor-piercing at 30m, 8kg antitank mine, 155mm artillery explosion at 60m). Armored, electrochromic glass windows. CBRN environmental systems. Passive magical dampening.

Hardened onboard computer and communications. INS navigation with onboard high-resolution satellite imagery.
Laser and acoustic shot detector, IED jammers, cellphone/radio jammer. Concealed, roof-mounted smoke dispensers and EMP gun for disabling modern cars. Radar/lidar/nightvision sensors with 360 degree coverage and headsup display.

HEAVY
Modelled on the Boxer AFV, which just entered production in 2006.
8x8 Infantry Fighting Vehicle. 34 tons combat weight, 1100km range. Designed to be a modular chassis, with a fixed drive module, and a swappable mission module with options from troop carrier to VIP protection, medical evacuation and heavy weapons.

2x crew(driver + commander/gunner) plus up to 10 passengers depending on mission module. Flexfuel, hybrid powertrain with high-density battery/capacitors and silent, electric only mode for acoustic and IR stealth. Full-time all wheel drive. Central tire inflation system with runflat inserts. Color-changing paint. CBRN environmental systems.

Hardened onboard computer and communications with AI algorithms, INS navigation and onboard high-resolution satellite map cache. Integrated longrange acoustic device.

Nightvision, IR and radar systems.
Acoustic shot, laser, radar and missile warning detectors. IED jammers, laser dazzlers, roof-mounted smoke grenade launchers and hardkill anti-RPG lasers running off the vehicle powerplant.

Composite armor suite providing all-aspect STANAG 4569 Level 6/6+ protection(30mm APFSDS autocannon at 500m, 155mm artillery shell explosion at 10m, 10kg antitank mine).
Magical dampening/wards.

Unmanned primary weapon turret with options from nonlethal microwave "pain ray" to heavy machinegun, grenade launcher, missile launcher and 35x228mm/50x228mm Bushmaster III autocannon

RATIONALE
The Suburban-class platform will fit 1 squad(5 troops) of Einherjar and still have two spare seats.

STANAG 4569 Level 3 certification represents enough protection to to survive high velocity sniper rifle, as well as 6kg under vehicle explosion. That means it has enough payload to carry 5 troopers in full arms and armor, sufficient defenses to survive an incident, and enough obscuration to make it difficult to track the vehicle once it leaves the scene of an altercation.

Plus, full-size SUVs are a known sight on the world's roads, so it should be relatively unremarked; the Suburban alone sells between 50k-87k vehicles most years in the US.

===
The Boxer-class will fit two squads in troop carrier configuration, and by changing the mission module, they can be reconfigured for VIP extraction, or even for heavy weapons in the event that the mission profile requires scorching the earth.

Its wheeled because a wheeled 8x8 can lose half its tires and keep going, while tracked vehicles are kinda fucked if they throw a track.

Will be back to finish the stunt later.

I think we should certainly do the molecular runes idea.

Making a small god for one car might be something you can do, making one for several cars without the relevant charms or spells... no, that is sadly beyond Molly. Look into crafting and/or Emerald spirit binding if you want to do that with any regularity.

Or Devil Cauldron refining, I think.

So if we wove a mesh of silver doped carbon nanotubes forming countless (or at least billions to trillions) molecular scale runes based on a sketch of the shape a rune caster could invest them with power as normal?

Could we get a consult on that with the crafters here already, or is that too much digging into their business?

Why wheels rather than tank treads? There is a reason that basically all recently designed armored vehicles use treads rather than wheels.

Wheels are faster on flat ground, but if you have basically any rough terrain including snow treads win out and when you are in a military context consistent reliable speed is usually more important than top speed.

The reason I think concentrating on a slick build is better is because it'll see more use. We are repaying Odin, and we are also advertising. It's a trial balloon, and if he likes what he sees, he'll quite possibly be open to paying us (in stuff like magical materials, alchemical recipes and mercenary forces) to obtain more. For that, we need to impress him. That means going beyond ridiculous. It's better to concentrate here in order to to break more legendarity successes thresholds.

Rationale for my other decisions:
1) Internal mirror coating of materials. This provides heightened durability. And, for example, by making a mirror-coated engine we should be able to boost its power output significantly.
2) Redundant systems - entropic curses (ie techbane) is likely one of the biggest dangers the car would face. Thus we need to counter it as much as possible.
3) Weapons - we were asked for something with a punch.

Ok, let me modify my vote and expand it.

[X] Plan Bond, Odin Bond
-[X]The 'Slick' given the kinds of enemies they are fighting the ability to slip unseen and still pack a punch is likely to be the most valuable
--[X] TTC, MHM, BSM, WHWH, Craft, Occult, and Leadership Excellencies, ATB with willpower for quality control
--[X] Have Clippy pull up plans we used when designing Mab's car to have something to start working with. If locals have access to internet or technical drawings of cars, use those too for inspiration.
--[X] Transcendent Lord of Flies invoking environmental protection
---[X] Install chemical warfare-rated air filtration system
---[X] Make the vehicle interior airtight when neede, and install an internal air regeneration system
---[X] Thermally insulate the interior and the fuel system, so the car can function in harsh conditions
---[X] Make the windows bullet-resistant and also IR and UF opaque; make the windows electrochrome (opaque when a switch is flipped)
---[X] Install advanced air conditioner capable of lowering the temperature inside below freezing if needed
---[X] Advanced sound isolation of the interior with active acoustic sensors instead to hear what's going on inside
--[X] MIrror coating
---[X] Coat the superstructure, i.e. car's skeleton in it in order to increase structural integrity
---[X] Coat car's components that wear down, like ball bearings and engine's cylinders in order to be able to overclock the car's
---[X] The fuels line and cabling lines, in order to protect the car from internal explosions and/or combustion
---[X] The car body to act as armor. Make the body laminated in multiple layers of mirror and normal material, with a normal material outside.
--[X] The composition of the car, internals and externals
---[X] Install as many redundancies as possible, and harden everything against entropic curses (techbane). Ideally, you want mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems acting as backups for each other.
---[X] Hybrid power (electrical and combustion fuel)
---[X] Airless tires masquerading as normal ones, with mirror-coated lightweight internal support structure
--[X] The bag of tricks
---[X] Flippable license plates
---[X] Hidden trunk compartment for contraband
---[X] Concealable weapon compartments reachable from the interior
---[X] Hidden hardpoints in the trunk for securing prisoners
---[X] Electrical arc light projecting system capable of going bright enough to blind the opposition if needed
---[X] A megaphone / siren
---[X] Gas dispersal system
-[X] Stunt: As you finish laying out the plan for a vehicle you envisioned on a huge organic-looking flatscreen conjured by your powers, you take a chilly breath and once again look around your environment. In the corner, a giant cauldron is being stirred, a rich quicksilver-like substance sloshing inside, small details already machined periodically being dipped in. All around you, your minions unpaid interns move with purpose and direction, already following your directions. And in the center of the room, a skeleton of a vehicle is slowly taking shape. Once it is assembled, it'll look like nothing more than a simple car. For now, a far more complex and alien interior structure is obvious.

@uju32 No bond car stuff besides smokes screen?

Might change later, but yours looks the closest to what I want so far.
[x]Uju32
James Bond generally doesnt have to worry about carrying armed adult passengers. :)
The instructions said:
[]The 'Slick' given the kinds of enemies they are fighting the ability to slip unseen and still pack a punch is likely to be the most valuable
-[] Write in suggestions for the vehicles (Optional)
  1. You are not allowed to reveal that they help you with alchemy, but if someone catches a glimpse of them you are allowed to say 'they are OK, I can't say more'
  2. It does, but it is on a scale of conceptual power that is simply beyond them, it is beyond most things in this age of the world
  3. The Slick version has to be able to drive around on a public road without raising eyebrows, it would be nice if it could stand up to a cursory search but it's not necessary
  4. Sure they have pilots you can make those
I honestly had issues reconciling most Bond weapons with this setting, not without magic.
Oil slicks dont work, and caltrops are not going to work on any halfway competent enemy with runflats, and headlight machineguns cant be aimed with any sort of reliability.

The closest I am coming to weapons is finding camoflaging a removable weapons turret like a rooftop cargo box, like this:
And that would block the ability of any of the passengers to open the sunroof, mount a machinegun and go to town.

So I focused on defenses and evasion.
Armor, smoke, jammers.
If any shooting has to be done, there's soldiers inside the SUV with automatic weapons.

Ultimately, this is an armored SUV, not an armored fighting vehicle.
It isnt really supposed to stay in combat; its supposed to sneak in and dash out, and maybe act as a VIP transport in a city.
Slugging matches should get the Heavy in heavy weapons configuration.

Why wheels rather than tank treads?
Tracks have superior deep bush performance but horrible performance on the road compared to wheels.
Because wheels have better fuel performance, which translates to better logistical endurance.

Because an 8x8 can lose tires and keep going.
If a vehicle throws a track, its fucked; it takes several hours to change a set even if everything goes right, or so my research on the subject tells me.

Besides, the parameters are clear that we arent building a vehicle for tank on tank combat.
So you dont need tracks.
The reason I think concentrating on a slick build is better is because it'll see more use.
You can literally get a mundane company to do that shit for you. Legally.
Bulletproof armor, sealed aircompartment, the works.

Its the Heavy vehicle that you cant buy on the open market.

As the hot coca arrives, still steaming from the pot alongside gingerbread cookies you get on to the most tricky part of the deal, the service. You would benefit from the service of 'five times five' of Her Kabouter's kin, five for each element, for each point of the pentagram.

"You know," you dunk a cookie in the coca, it's Jormungand eating its own tail what you can only assume is a form of culinary irony.
I love this part of the scene so much. Not just the hot cocoa and gingerbread cookies in Santa's actual freaking workshop, with genuine Santa-grade Elves, but also that the cookies are Jormungand-shaped.

Molly has seen and done some crazy shit since Exalting, but this has to be near the top of the list for absolutely surreal, 'no one will ever believe me if I told them about it' stuff.
