Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

OOC: I know you guys probably will not take it, but if you directly call Mac an angel that is going to be a hell of a bomb to throw in the middle of the room full of minor talents.

[X] Directly state what you noticed and make it clear you are not going to look any deeper

You were saying?

[X] Hint at what you noticed (Charisma+ Subterfuge)
-[X} Subterfuge excellency

You have a broken Bracket here.

Can we at least use the subterfuge option?

It's very much not dropping a bomb, especially if we use an excellency, even more if we use willpower to make sure not to fail.

Normal has been out the window the moment we approached.

[X] Normally, order a root beer

How about let's not be a bitch for no good reason when we want a favor from someone. This is a Molly not a Karen.

Molly not being normal isn't the same as people assuming Mac isn't. Outing him in front of his customer base isn't a nice way to introduce ourselves.

Subterfuge is somewhat better, but it's still sort of gambling when we could simply not poke what doesn't need poked.

Look, just respect the guy's privacy alright? There's no need to piss off the former angel for unclear reason and Mac's definitely not a hostile entity. There is zero reason for us doing a spoiler on him.

[X] Order a cheese steak sandwich. Compliment the food after our first bite, "Mmm, heavenly..."

We are broadly speaking allied with angelic host at the moment. Mac is clearly here in disguise. The disguise has a flaw. The flaw can be easily corrected - just add something that would imitate the side-effects of one of Molly's discarded hypotheses:
Air is moving normally, not that, not a glamor he's not that kind of person, electromagnetism would make your hair fuzz a little, not that either, not fire-based or it would interact in some way with all the flame channeling enchantments Harry has with him, if only a flash out of the corner of the eye, entropy would hurt the beer, space warping would harm the symmetry of the room, temporal warping would... be insane and also cause headaches and nausea to seers and diviners.
Would probably be enchantment 1.

So, the responsible thing to do would be to tell him about the flaw in his disguise so he can correct it.

Listen, I would strongly recommend not hinting at jack shit when we are in mixed company. Some of the individuals here are probably older than Jesus, literally, and I don't think we want competing rolls to get our point across without any one of them noticing. Let the angel have his secrets and we'll have a longer talk with him later. There may be a flaw but he can fix it tomorrow.

He might be a Grigori... one of the half-fallen. One of the well intentioned ones who skirted the lines in the name of the betterment of humanity and unintentionally fucked things up about as much as they helped. Who knows.

It might be worth staying mum and just passing on what we suspect and why up the chain, whether by Michael to Uriel or a prayer to the big man directly.

Mac frequently says he's 'out', he won't thank us for even subtly waving around his nature under the nose of a professional snoop.

If he is an angel then he probably still has some contact with heaven given he's obviously not fallen, even if he is retired to some degree.

It might be fun to try subtly communicating our knowledge in a full bar, but should we?

You're not wrong, but this is our first meeting and we aren't exactly strongly linked to his circle as far as we know. He likes Harry enough to take an introduction from him positively, but they're not close in any real sense.

@Modus_Tollens had the right of it here; if we tell him* it should be privately.

I'd prefer to do it after we know each other a bit better too, just to avoid our observation sounding like a threat.

If we do have to do it here and now playing verbal subterfuge is silly. Write it on a napkin and hand it to him folded up. Let people wonder, we're weird and new enough that they'll be doing that anyway. Something more interesting about our weirdness will come up later to distract them, like the news that we'd like to grab a drink with Mab here in a little over a week.

* Which is itself probably a good thing, even if this apparently isn't a big deal most of the time. Probably because the only people good enough to see through him are wise enough not to screw with someone like him when he's not bothering anyone.

Introducing ourselves by tossing a hand grenade into his life is still a dick move.

One of the characteristics of adulthood is knowing when to keep your mouth shut.
We are not the only people who've noticed Mac before. Let the man have his privacy. Everyone else has.

My dude, you are making a lot of assumptions here.

Both that there's a flaw in his disguise, and that this is something he can do something about, instead of being a fundamental part of his nature. The fact that the Occult 5 Infernal Exalt rocking Perception buffs noticed does not mean anyone else did. Harry certainly didnt and he has Lash in his head.

Mab explicitly knows who he is, and is friendly towards him. To the point of prioritizing his welfare after Maeve shot him in Cold Days. An Outsider walked into his bar and called him out in Cold Days. And I will wager you anything that the Denarians know who he is. Nevermind Odin, who we know has been in this bar. Or the Archive.

Its not a secret to the serious Players.
I suspect knowing these things is how you get to be regarded as a serious Player in the first place.
And its precisely this sort of thing why I told people not to make that promise to Murphy.

The Outsider Sharkface explicitly calls him Watcher in Cold Days.
Cold Days c22 said:
"Harry," said a strange voice. Or rather, it wasn't strange—it was just strange to actually hear it. Mac isn't much of a talker. "Don't chat. Kill it."
Mac's words seemed to do what none of my nonsense had—they made Sharkface pissed off. It whirled toward Mac, dozens of sackcloth strips flicking out in every direction, grabbing whatever objects were there, and its alien voice came out in a harsh rasp. "You!" Sharkface snarled. "You have no place in this, watcher. Do you think this gesture has meaning? It is every bit as empty as you. You chose your road long ago. Have the grace to lie down and die beside it."
I think my jaw might have hung a little loosely for a second. "Uh. Mac?"
"Kill it," Mac repeated, his voice harder. "It's only the first."
"Yes," Sharkface said, tilting its head almost to the perpendicular. "Kill it. And more will come. Destroy me and they will know. Leave me and they will know. Your breaths are numbered, wizard."
When Murphy asked him what he was later in Cold Days, his reply was "Im Out".

When Dresden tries to use the Sight on him in Battlegrounds, Mac both notices and covers his(Dresden's) eyes before he can do so, saying he would hurt himself. The only other person who does that is the Guardian Angel in Ghost Story who was protecting Uriel's black ops crew of dead people. And then Dresden refers to Mac as an ex-angel later in Battlegrounds.

Its fairly conclusive.
