Doing prep with my players for a Realm Civil War PBP and I wanted to talk about it because I am excited.

We're starting off with a double wedding gala between houses Mnemon and Cathak: a son and a daughter from each house. This is going to be used to seal an alliance between the houses and the gala itself will be an opportunity for houses to make various moves.

There are two players who have yet to give me a character sheet and both might leave so we'll skip over them for now.

First up we have Mnemon Cara, the bride at this grand gala and Earth Aspect. She's a direct daughter of the matriarch, Earth Dragon stylist, a war leader and crafter. She has a talon of troops personally loyal to her (Command 3) that she has guarding her wedding alongside the usual guard contingent in the Garden of Law and Peace (Her player liked the idea when I suggested it, said it was a power move). She wields Faith's Pillar and is lucky enough to have Mnemon's personal attention as a mentor. She is especially adept at crafting Jadesteel and artifacts; this is a woman meant to lead armies and equip them with the finest material available.

We also detailed her new husband a bit: he's a Cathak socialite and medic named Bando. Cara's player thought that a husband tending to his warrior princess wife's wounds was good vibes, and I agree. She also likes poetry, and so Bando is a poet. (Side note, there's a Performance 5 deeb charm that lets you do a performance to accelerate healing. Which means he can serenade her while he tends to her cuts and booboos.)

Then there's Sesus Daesong, Fire Aspect and Fire Dragon master. He is the son of Sesus Raenyah and older brother of Terel. Drop-dead gorgeous warrior poet (the image his player picked has real shirtless Apollo vibes). He is a wildly handsome and seductive deep cover agent (Manipulation 5, Appearance 5) that tends to emulate powerful dynastic women in many ways*, seeing himself as their equal. He has a strong bloodline, favor in his house (enough to earn him a Manse of his own AND the Smiling Razors), and complete self-assurance of his own superiority.

Daesong's player wanted to both be the seducer and put off the air of a man easily seduced: he takes male lovers as playthings, as if he were a powerful dynastic woman, and also gets close to dynastic women by insinuating himself as one of their playthings. As his player put it, "he dances on the line of pretending to be the witless man to be seduced, and the cunning man who seduces". Which seemed like a lot of fun, especially in this sort of game.

Lastly, for now, we have a Ledaal Air Aspect who has not yet been given a name. I'll call her A2 because I'm like 90% sure the art is of her (EDIT: Also I just realized: A2. Air Aspect. Lol). A2 is a thinblood despite her status in a great house, because she also possesses a divine heritage (either she was born through some form of black magic/necromancy or she's descended from a trickster god, player hasn't decided yet). She is heavily invested in Investigation charms and also possesses a Belt of Shadow Walking. I'd talk more about her but her sheet isn't done yet.

All three of these Deebs attended the Cloister of Wisdom together, which I thought was a neat coincidence. Everyone also gets a free Signature charm ignoring its essence requirement. A2 took Horizon-Spanning Echoes (and also has the enhanced hearing merit), so she can hear basically anything. Daesong took Fluid Recollection Insinuation so he can put himself into the memories of those he talks to. And Cara has not picked one yet.

Also side note: three of these players are also in that Sidereal PBP I bring up occasionally. The Serenity, the Battles, and the GM respectively. I also invited the Reckoner but he declined because he doesn't like Deebs.

I'm looking forward to this game! Gon be a fun time. We start in September because I'm leaving the country in the last weekend of August, but that gives me time to come up with fun stuff in the wedding. Stuff I will not spoil.

Yes, I shamelessly stole the scenario from Heirs, sue me. Yes, there *might* be assassins like in Heirs, but I also have social manuvering stuff I want to see happen. The Cynis I came up with using @MiracleGrow 's character design for inspiration, for example. Terel is going to be a little shit at the wedding as well. All sorts of stuff.

Something you can use her for, is being bit of a divide between DB's who stick to the realm or spend the vast majority of their time abroad in the Threshold. They would spurn a lot of the typical pomp and theater as its understood in the realm. Just one of the many rising tensions in the realm. Lot of 'I can barely call the Realm home and I'd rather be back out in the '___ Satrap'.

... So, I kind of did this, but in a more social fashion than geographic.

Long, half written, overly complicated for an NPC backstory short: Cynis Megara ("Maggie" to her friends and cutie pies) is a prodigy drug developer and Righteous Devil stylist (I got reasons to put those two ideas together that would take a few paragraphs to go into). She gets introduced to the players at the wedding as a potential avenue for information on what Cynis is up to since nobody made a scion in the house and their exact motives are unclear at the moment (one of the players is a Sesus so I intended to have his mother introduce the two, see how the meeting goes as a temperature check). If the players like her and want to see more of her, her loyalties to her house and her fondness for the wandering nomadic hero life she thinks magsitrates like her father embody are going to grate and conflict more and more.

Eventually she either starts calling herself Eisenberg or puts on her cowboy hat and walks out the door.

Apart from Nocturnals are there any homebrew exalted I can check out for free? I have seen some stuff on storyteller vault and they cost money.

Are you looking for anything specific? There's quite a bit more for 3e and Essence, varying from stubs to full write-ups. HamSandLich has posted several design seeds that I've really vibed with, for instance. I don't know if there's a specific central link for them, though.

Here's a link to the ones I've finished for Essence, including the Tomebinder, which is one of those HamSandLich examples I mentioned.

Terrifying Argent Witches for 2.5 is a Lunar rewrite, here are 2 versions.

This one is later and complete, but I have concerns it's overpowered.

This is the 'first draft', a collection of 4(?) people throwing things at the wall for later editing. Balance is all over the place, 3 Soak trees but no regen, you get the picture.

If you want to really get TAW you should read the non-charms parts of the 2nd, dev comments about the whys and wherefores ect.

So I got the party sorcerer on the path of Demon summoning in 3E, only to discover that we in fact have very few First Circles officially statted for third edition. Are there any good resources elsewhere for this? I'm aware of the Green Cherry Demonomicon, but it's mostly for Essence, and while that is a good start, I'm mostly trying to see if there's anything useful to let the GM skip over homebrewing some of the basics like Agate or Sesseljae.

Agatae are in Ex3 core. Hundred Devils Night Parade and Adversaries of the Righteous introduce a couple more First Circle Demons. Ex3 has Tomescu, Blood Apes, Neomah, Sesseljae, Agatae, of the older demons.

Sesseljae suck, though, in canon.

Sesseljae, the Stomach-Bottle Bugs

Sesseljae, the Stomach-Bottle Bugs Essence: 2; Willpower: 4; Join Battle: 5 dice Personal Motes: 70 Health Levels: −0x1/−1x1/−2x1/−4x4/Incap. Actions: Internal Surgery: 10 dice; Resist Poison/Illness: 12 dice; Senses: 4 dice (see Drunkard’s Nose); Stealth: 7 dice (see Tiny Creature); Swim: 5 dice...
I fixed them.

Thank you, had missed Adversaries of the Righteous. Have relayed the homebrew as well.

Here, have some flesh-weaving glass spiders.

Xefas wrote some great conversions in her Demonarium and Sinister Laundromat thread, back when 3e was just a little baby. I think her writeups for Gethin and the Teakettle Courtiers are notable standouts, but all of her writeups capture a fun whimsy that feels to me like some of my favorite parts of Games of Divinity

Resensit, the Midnight Scale Prince

Demon of the Second Circle
Expressive Soul of the Rampart of Serpents

Once Sibiri wed a Solar queen early in the First Age, for the queen had been brought low by the struggles of their kind and Sibri felt a strange and earnest kinship with her. From their union was born a child, one whose heart overflowed with poisons of all kinds. His human mother cared for him (as she understood it), but in the end she chose the chance to restore her power over what her child longed for. Thus the child shed his birth name and his human soul and his first skin, and joined his other mother in Hell, having learned the lesson she had whispered to him at his birth.

Resensit is an ill-favoured prince, pale like a cave snake with inky hair, a scarred chest, and a gangly, sinuous build. His golden eyes weep his mother's venoms, which he coats his long-bladed glaive with, and when he serves his mother's interests he armours himself in blackened steel forged by Alevua. Those men who fly his banner drink his venoms and find the softness of their heart withering, able to withstand all pains - whether physical or moral - at the cost of all food tasting as ash and a numbing of all feelings. In battle he seeks out foes he considers to have promise, and calls them out. Yet he spares their life even if he defeats them, for what interests him is to watch and train them as he tests their mettle in the aftermath of the poisoned wounds and grievous scars he inflicts. He identifies with naturalborn children, the outcasts, those whose shape is not as they would wish, and those who are usurped, but the bitterness in his heart leads him to betray even them when fortune denied to him strikes them.

In Hell Resensit holds court in a tower that protrudes from the side of a great fissure in the 832nd layer of Malfeas, where the light of the Green Sun deigns to shine but weakly and where a tributary of the Demon Sea falls in a great polluted waterfall. He has twenty legions to his name, but they are thinly scattered through Hell serving his mother's interests or his own laconic ambition. The seventeenth of these legions is bound to a deep violet banner that they are bound to follow, and he has granted it to a sorcerer in Creation - and is paid a soul-tithe twice a year in recompense.

Sorcerers call on Resensit to be their general or their champion, but he knows the wickedness in their hearts and will offer with cynical gloom to perform all kinds of wicked deeds for them so that their hands might remain clean. He does this to demonstrate to them how effective such methods are. If ordered he can call up many kinds of wicked cold-blooded reptilian beasts from the earth, but these creatures will only accept riders whose hearts have been cooled by his venoms. The presence of one who loves him purely and unconditionally pains him terribly, calling back his long-lost human soul to him and leaving him unable to wield his demonic magics. He can slip the gates of Hell when an illegitimate child is rejected by their powerful father, slithering up in his serpent form to aid them and counsel them in pursuit of their birthright.

As a second circle demon, Resensit has the following qualities: Immaterial, Immortal (Demon), Measure the Wind, Heroic, Significant. Additionally, he possesses:
  • Ebon Reaper Form - As White Reaper Form, save the halos generated instead take the form of writhing shadow serpents sprouting from his back.
  • Venomous Arc Strike - As Bleeding Crescent Strike, save if he spends two or more halos, an enhanced attack also inflicts one dose of Contact Poison on the target. This poison explicitly can affect an entire battlegroup.
  • Veiling Shadow Barrier - As Flickering Corona Barrier, with Resensit benefiting from the Lunar mode of that charm.
  • Serpents Called to their Prince - Once per scene, Resensit can commit 2 motes and at least one halo, and create a battlegroup of shadow snakes with the traits of first circle demons, the Qualities of a Giant Constrictor, and Size equal to the number of halos spent. These demons treat exposure to sunlight as a fire environmental hazard.
  • Principle of Motion - as the Quality.
  • Sibiri's Child - He may take an action and commit 1 mote to take the form of a giant constrictor (see Exalted Essence p327)
  • Heart-Numbing Teaching Venom - When Resensit performs a training venture, he may spend 1 mote. He may use his Primary pool, and in addition, if successful, his targets gain an additional primary quality of "Callous Violence". Characters with a Compassion Virtue must replace it with Ambition. Significant characters may take a hard bargain to avoid this. Alternatively, he may conduct a recruitment venture to call up all kinds of strange twisted reptilian beasts to serve him or his current master. These beasts may only be used as mounts by characters targeted previously by this charm.
  • Lost Human Soul - If in the presence of a character with a Major Intimacy of love towards him and no other intimacy that would seek to benefit from him, he loses access to all his other supernatural qualities. Additionally, Resensit is counted as human rather than a demon and is not a creature of darkness for all magical purposes.

Yes. I love him, I could fix him, I know it. I'll just go summon him and I'll melt that poisonous heart of his~

More seriously, this is excellent Sibri Souling, with great mechanical support for his whole deal. I could do Sibri Soul Stuff with him in a game just jumping from this, and communicate the important stuff about her rancid fucking vibes at the time time. I really love him <3
