This would never happen but I'd lol if at the end of the 3e Abyssal book they reintroduce mirror charms as a sly way to get out that 3.5 Solar charmset people have asked for.

Not like bringing back virtues but the charm effects are themed off of displaying the Four Virtues like how Sidereals have the House charms. They'd get ability charms like normal, and those could be used as prereqs for the Virtue charms

That sort of locks out a ton of Solar concepts, though, and invites a lot of bleughness into things, magically speaking. A Solar who is fundamentally based around their own passions and ego shouldn't be weaker than someone who just so happens to function well within an artificial and simplified set of virtues, and making Universal Charms except Virtues would almost inevitably prioritize stereotypes over characters.
 
That's why you've got to create a good set of virtues! Things that frame human passions as well as duties to causes, and include things like being pure of heart or brave and heroic, and a multitude of other things. There's probably some way to do it. Regardless, if I was going to do a reworked version of Solars the first thing I'd do is take that 'epitome of human excellence' thing and toss it out the window, because every Exalt starts as a human and then gets some other cool shit to do. Solars being 'da best at human things' is a concept filled with dead-ends. Give them light, ascention, glory, victory, but never make them boring.

As for Eye, I think that's one case where the fanon machine did a good job. As I recall, the character as-generally-discussed kept most of the interesting stuff and did away with most of the weird semi-bigoted stuff from the character as-written.

2e Ma-Ha-Suchi was poorly served by that same machine, though. I think the character in the books actually had some really interesting stuff going on, stuff that was generally ignored by the community in favour of raperaperape. I'm not big on his 3e portrayal, either, so I'm in a bit of an odd place with him.

Like someone said while I was still on vacation, Expansions are just Charms; you buy them at the usual cost. They're just given shorter formatting to save space.

That's the thing tho, it doesn't. There's still regular ability charms, with the option of the Virtue charms. Like how a sidereal can be built without any Maiden charms

IIRC You've said you like characters that are horrible people and your Solar isn't moral so... I had another idea. Gervesin, The Grieving Lord (Roll 2, Pg 60-61) Combat stats and charms, should be hideable. "Gervesin (typically) takes the form of a great and terrible lance of strange verdigris-covered brass, burning with viridian light." Problem, he destroys the mind of his wielder. So 'give' him to a mortal dupe/sacrifice. You will have to replace the mortal after most battles, he doesn't protect the wielder and can keep fighting while wielded by a corpse.

In a related note, if Abyssals also gives us more ghost mechanics/powers, then I hope that the ghost powers will be like, good, and interesting, in this edition.

Edit: At the very least, this time I would like to feel that any ghost who doesn't sell their soul and/or identity and/or sanity to the Neverborn and the Void isn't irrelevant as a power player in the Underworld.

Solars have no horoscope mechanics, nor do they have a deliberately limited Charmset which can be filled by universal effects, is my point. If you give them Valor Charms, you're giving them additional Presence and Combat Charms, but specifically you have to be Valorous. Compassion Charms seem likely to be giving additional Presence, Performance, Medicine, and Combat Charms, but you have to specifically be Compassionate.

I really, really don't think you'll get the effect you want out of this, especially with the Solar set as powerful as it already is.

He has gone from gross and deplorable to just another boring, do nothing elder. I feel like they probably should have just ignored his existence completely for 3e. He is never going to be able to fully escape his first and second edition roots and I have never seen anyone who cared about him beyond wanting to kick his ass.

You could do this for the Dream-Souled, because of the association between Raksha and the old Virtue system.
 
I kind of dig 3e Ma-ha-suchi as the boring, do nothing elder. He's someone who used to be very important but now... isn't. He's most relevant for being the person he used to be. He's not the most secluded elder Lunar, but he's seemingly the least active. The most immediately evident story hook for the guy is "try and get him to actually do something." His intimacies include "this shit wasn't worth it :(" and "everyone I like disappoints me :(".

It's a comical and charming level of pathetic.

Anecdotally, MHS is pretty popular in my play groups and in Lunar gaves I've played in! Big sad wolfgoat daddy has a lot of charm to him.

As a warrior aristocracy of hereditary demigods, the Scarlet Dynasty naturally places heavy emphasis on the particulars of arranged marriage between its various households. However, keeping track of the minutiae of genealogies, familial histories, social reputations, and economic ties among the myriad scions of the Dynasty is a mind-boggling task. Matriarchs and household heads naturally wish to be kept abreast of these affairs, but allocating time for studying such matters can be quite difficult when one also has the responsibilities of running a family of Dragonblooded. It is for this reason that a particular niche has emerged among the Great Houses, that of the Family Matchmaker.

Unlike the freelance matchmakers available to peasant families in the Realm, Dynastic matchmakers are typically dynasts themselves, and kept on retainer by a household to keep a living record of its genealogy and the deeds of its various members. These women advise the household head or matriarch on various marriage prospects for her descendants. They collect information on the pedigree of would-be fiancees, track the finances of neighboring households, and act as go-betweens for negotiating the specific legal agreements that go into arranging a dynastic marriage. They often help plan weddings and assist dynastic mothers during labor as well.

There are vocational schools that provide an education in matchmaking, and graduates of these programs tend to net a higher stipend than dynasts who do not. These often cover a variety of topics, from hereditary traits to auspicious dates for conception. Typically inordinately versed in both marital and contract law, Dynastic Matchmakers sometimes fulfill the role of family lawyer in an advisory capacity, though the Dynasty would never openly admit to something so gauche and foreign as practicing law.

Indeed, while matchmakers wield considerable power and are granted significant latitude in fulfilling their tasks, they often work behind the scenes. Many keep out of the way chambers full of documents detailing blood relations and economic forecasts, seen only rarely by their relatives as they spend hours poring over their records. To be fair that's pretty similar to how his human form looked in 2E, it's just that his Issues meant he stayed in hybrid form whenever possible.

iirc he went from Appearance 7 to 5 and never got over going from "impossibly beautiful" to only "Most Attractive Man In His Direction".
