Basically how it went. I had three latch onto my face, and attempt to Cut my throat with an axe, stab me in the eye, and one jammed a scepter into my ear. The last one is the only one that did even a little bit of damage. Massive amounts of natural soak, and a decent bit of hardness is good.

Oh my, this is a new studio too, and their only other slated project is for Scion...

Oh this could end badly :V

Whelp okay there goes any small amount of faith I had for the project, Live Action is the absolute worst medium for Exalted. :V

I can see basically no way in which Exalted could work well as live action, unless you throw a Marvel-sized budget at it.

...admittedly there might be some Chinese studios making (incredibly pulpy) Xianxia/Wuxia with terrible CGI that could make something worth seeing, but I doubt that will be the result.

Well, I know some notable Bollywood clips drift around Exalted circles on occasion, so I actually think live-action could be done satisfactorily, but out of a new studio? I don't like the odds.

Well, the good news is that it'll probably be a "quickly forgotten amongst the mainstream crowd" type of bad, so it won't stain the franchise in the eyes of the normies too much.

The only thing giving me hope is that Paradox is involved. And that's somewhat tempered by the fact that they primarily work in video games.

Yeah, the combination of it being a new studio and live action is a warning sign. Either one of those could be fine, both together is... Ominous.

Wow, sad.

Nobody, whether here or on Discord or on the official forum, seems optimistic at all. Hard to imagine a worse omen for a licensed project.

Apparently, the maker is a fan. So there's that. And I do feel bad that I'm not excited for it; I've wanted an Exalted series for a long time.

But Shyamalan was a fan of the Last Airbender, too. And live-action for a series like this?

I think part of it is the animation ghetto. It might be where it's an honest attempt to elevate it in the eyes of the public by making it live action and not animated.

I'm a Stormlight Archive fan, so I've seen quite a few "animation vs. live action" debates for this kind of story.

Hey, since Terrestrial Exaltation is so different from the other types of Exalted, could one theoretically exalt as a Celestial? Like, say, a Deathlord gives one right about to die the chance to become an Abyssal?

I mean, I imagine they'd no longer be a Dragon-blooded anymore, at least.

No, this is not possible. The Terrestrial Exaltation remains an Exaltation, whether by or of the Dragons, and though there is one terrible story in which a Dragon-Blood was Exalted as a Solar, it was full of other errors and has universally been decried as terrible and is not canonical anyways.
