I think the idea was that they'd already started doing that, and that he was saying that he successfully convinced Rich that their newer idea was better than the old one.

Holden also explained in the comments that they won't be like the Evocations in the leak and that they won't be quite the like the ones in the core, so who knows what form it will take?

They describe it as an additional way to approach them rather than an errata to replace what's in the core. I imagine in practice that a more in-depth system might attract more interest and that it might become errata in effect.

wat...

Pity, I actually liked the evocations from the leak.

My first thought is "man I hope they do away with the 'Special Activation Rules'/Free Evocations."
My Second is "There was no way in they are doing away with the free evocations.:("

I mean, if you interpret doing them differently as a form of errata, sure. One certainly could.

They said they won't put out errata for the core, but that it's possible for stuff like future books to provide systems and concepts to use in addition to or in place of those in the core. They've said that will be the case in Arms and have also noted elsewhere that the Excellencies provided for each Exalt type are provisional and might change when their books drop.

Have you guys played or had (as NPCs or PCs) any particularly cool Sorcerers in your games?

I have found that the best way to think of Exalted third edition is that it is a beautiful representation of the themes of Exalted.

You know, the concepts of immense hubris, of good intentions gone awry because of politics and stubbornness, of people being overthrown by their lessers and becoming the new rulers, arrogant and aloof...

Okay the last is a bit of a stretch because a lot of the Ex2E authors were really bad but I had to stick it in.

tenfold: "i'm really interested in exalted now and infernals like scorp writes are really cool"
tenfold: "while i'm leafing through some of the 2E books i should check out infernals"
tenfold: "i mean i know everyone says its bad but it can't be that bad and i'll just skim over the beginning anyway to make sure i don't miss any-"
*turns the page*

Yeah, there's a reason the developers have publicly disavowed those parts.

I seem to recall hearing that someone literally tore those pages (as in, the entirety of chapters 1 and 2) out of their copy and burned them.

And you discovered that we were entirely honest with you. :V

If nothing else, the Ex3 devs have become exceedingly efficient at writing twice as much book than anyone saw necessary, to deliver half as much worthwhile material than anyone wanted.

Well, that and making excuses to Rich Thomas that this will all end in Big Moneys Yeah for everyone involved, just wait and see! Even their own boss isn't escaping Christmas Morning.

I just want the fucking Dragonblooded book already.

The rest would be nice, but running a serious campaign that goes on for any length of time is exceedingly difficult without access to Dragonblood rules.

...

Anyway! In other news, I finally managed to land myself an Exalted game in person where I'm not stuck as being the Storyteller. We had our first session on Sunday, and... well, I'll just quote myself here.

*ahem*

"So, we are ten minutes into the game, and the aristocratic Zenith has already managed to rub chilli powder into his genitals."
