Gems in the Wastes (Exalted/Warhammer Fantasy/CK2)

eh , demon armies are just more warp energies for the Wyld Cauldron, in fact it won't even get that far , in order for demon armies to even manifest and stay in reality they need both massive and constant streams of warp energies to sustain them in realspace which Wyld Cauldron would just suck up
Really? Because if it was that easy to beat the Wild, it wouldn't be such a danger in the Exalted world.

true but we are talking about the warp and its entities here and in warhammer the rule goes that demons are made of warp energy and need a constant supply of warp energy to stay in reality, in fact this is the biases for the Vortex in Ulthuan and why the world isn't covered in ocean spanning armies of demons , the vortex sucks all the warp energies coming from the polar warp gates and shunts it back into the warp before any demons can have a chance to use it to manifest while keeping the ambient warp energy levels of the world too low to sustain free rooming demons ,most of the time anyway

Yeah, but despite the Vortex demons manage to materialize in the Materium pretty regularly, so it's not foolproof. It wouldn't surprise me if Choas manages to find a way to mitigate the disadvantage caused by the Cauldron. And concerning my original point, Cjoas has other ways of acting in the Materium than sending demons.

true but its never easy or simple, it could be a case of someone summoning the demon fronting the energy costs they need with their own magic and lots of sacrifices, a mage miscasting really badly as the energy he is wielding goes out of control or lastly the green moon appears saturating an area in enough warp energies that demons can manifest and run wild for a while until its gone

That isn't how Wyld Cauldron works given you have to defend against a Wyld behemoth showing up with fair folk to kick your shit in.

Yeah, but it's still possibility we have to consider before declaring a war on Choas.

umm... dude, we are already at war with Chaos, every single faction on the planet that does not want the world to end is at war with chaos by default and the Chaos gods treat everyone with that expectation and anyone and everyone they can fuck with they do to the best of their ability , if there isn't already a demon army already on its way to do its worst to us it's not because the chaos gods don't want to send one it's because they don't have the ability to send one at the moment but the second they can do something to hurt us they will for no other reason than cause we were there , they could do it and we couldn't stop them

There's a difference between the Four seeing us as toys like the rest of the world, or as an existential threat. You can play with the first, you exterminate the second. The Four are busy amusing themselves with the entire world, because it can't threaten them. What do you think will happen if they realize we can actually threaten them? They will have their cults focus on us, try extra hard to infiltrate us, try to trick other into fighting us, that kind of things. There's a difference between being generally opposed to Chaos like everyone else, and being the specific target they want dead.

edit: and please, could you write using separate sentences? It's difficult to understand you when your post is just one long sentence.

First there are plenty of existential threats to chaos

like the high elves with their vortex and constant world spanning military campaigns to frustrate the efforts of the chaos gods

the lizard men with their everything whenever they decide to do something remain an existential threat of massive proportions despite how reduced they are

the Skaven with their own incredibly powerful god, global superpower tier empire, advanced magi technology and vast magical ability

the celestial dragon emperor over at Cathay who managed to wall off part of the chaos wastes and whatever cannon the GM will go with

all these are legitimate threats to chaos to one degree or the other, the high elves are reason chaos failed to take the world the first time around and continue to fail, the lizard men are the faction most likely and most able to fix the polar warp gates and with greatest ability to hurt the followers of chaos if they act ..ect

Our faction has Exulted in it we are by default an existential threat due to our abilities and what we can do as is

So no the chaos gods don't get to treat the rest of the world as toys or existential threats, the chaos gods haven't won, the walls of reality haven't come crumbling down and seen the world's population rendered the personal playthings of demons, every faction that hasn't fallen to chaos is an existential threat to them some more than others

tried your idea , this better ?

[X] Plan This Place Is Ours

I thought about crafting up some sort of migration-related plan with max Overwork, but most of the options present don't seem to support it much.

Actually yes, thanks:)

First there are plenty of existential threats to chaos
None of those factions present an existential threat to Choas, because they can't actually threaten the Four's territory in the Warp. The Vortex and all the other things you listed may diminish their ability to act in reality, but it doesn't pose threat to them personally. The mortal races can make it more difficult fro Chaos to invade them, but can't actually take the fight back to the Immaterium.

If I understand things correctly, the Cauldron can turn more of the Warp into reality. That would be directly invading the Four, going against their home territory and making it ours, which would weaken them.

Admittedly, that's probably my fault for not providing more options for that sort of play style, but I was having some trouble coming up with actions that lean towards that style. Maybe something to do with more extensive and durable tents, Surveying the local wild life? Not sure.

My two cents would be to lay down the plans for some sort of migratory sea fleet, but the quest itself revolves around us being confined to the Chaos Wastes, so I suppose that's out the door.

Maybe some sort of short-term mobile reality stabilization method to cart around with us as we travel to a new destination? I dunno.

I'd definitely replace the 'Money Matters' action in my migratory plan with something to actually help the migration directly.
I'll get on it when I get off work.

In other news, I had initially planned for the advisor vote to be the last part of the results for Turn 1, but with how I'm about 2/3 of the way through, I might as well do that part first so that I can write up the results during the voting period for that. So once the Turn 1 vote ends, the advisor vote will start up shortly thereafter.

I'll also be doing the rolls for the Sorcerer students today once I get off work. I will admit, they're probably not going to have really distinct personalities at first. They're stat sticks primarily, and well-rounded characters second. Once they get placed in a position, then I can work on extending the depths of their personality.

One interesting thing I noticed in the update was Sango saying he is not sure if this is the Bordermarches or the Middlemarches. In a sense I do not think the distinction matters that much to us as we hoover up as much of the corruption as we can, but there is one group of people to which this is life and death: the Fair Folk.

Raksha have a far more complicated relationship with the Wyld/Aethyr than your average daemon. They are indubitably creatures of the Wyld, living stories, but in passing through the gate that is the Shima of Identity they create a false body that is like that of the creation-born, which is what makes they distinct from the terrifying Unshaped of the Pure Chaos. The specific shape that any single Raksha might wear will change, but that they wear shapes does not, they come to both enjoy it and fear being without it. the native realm of the Raksha is thus not anymore the Courts of Madness, it is the Middlemarches, the place that is more Wyld than Creation, but still bears some affinity to the rules of the world. As an example this is the place one might find a tree made of cats or a living song that sings itself.

This is both the place where most Raksha change their shape and crucially the place where they do not have to feed, not on the souls of men, not on an uncapped Domain made Freehold, they can just breathe in the general wyld in the air and survive.

If we are in the Middlemarches (or equivalent) the Fey are not obliged to think of us as food, some of them still might because we are tasty and they are assholes, in fact many of them might, but the basic opposition of Fair Folk and Creation-born does not apply especially since all of us will have a bigger meaner enemy in the form of Chaos.

Sorcerer Student Rolls
Alright, I'm home now, and it's time to do some RNG to get the stress from work off of my back.

As a reminder, Sango had 5 students that he took under his wings: The daughter of a relative, the child of an employee in the Ministry of Records, the child of a general, a poor farmer's kid and finally his newfound son Mobolaji. Whenever I do rolls regarding these five, they will be listed from that order onwards (Relative, Records, General, Farmer, Son). One thing to keep in mind for mortals is that their stat bonus is inherently less compared to everyone else, which is because they don't have access to stuff like Excellencies. Keeping that in mind, I'm also going to giving them +1 to all stats to represent the superior nature of Sango's teaching skills. It won't really make up for it in the long-run, but at least its something.

Everyone of these kids (well, they're teens/young adults now, but you get the point) is going to have Learning be their best stat, since obviously that's what they would focus on for Sorcery. I will also roll for their second best stat just to differentiate them, as well as their worst. Unlike the other candidates, I'm also just going to post all of the stat rolls here both for transparency and ease of location.

So, 2nd-best stat. There's only 6 options available, so let's see what we get:

Result: The Relative's Daughter and our Son get Stewardship (I guess living on the streets made Mobolaji very cautious with his money), The Records Individual is Diplomacy, The General's Kid gets Intrigue, and the Farmer's Child gets Combat surprisingly enough.

Next is Worst Stat. d5s, let's go:

Result: Mobolaji, the General's Kid and the Farmer's Kid all get Martial, oddly enough. Maybe Sango has yet to really instruct his adopted son in the ways of war thus far. The Relative's Daughter gets Piety, so we're not alone at least, and the Records kid gets Piety as well. Maybe they've adopted Sango's attitude TOO well. :V

Next, gender. I already established the Relative's child as female, and Mobolaji is male, so it's just the three in the middle. d3, 1 is Male, 3 is Female.

Result: Records kid is female, the other 2 are non-binary. Neat. Sorcery definitely helps with that.

And now, I will get to rolling their stats offsite, and then edit in my results later. Again, I'm not making these character into fully fleshed out individuals (except maybe Mobolaji) unless they get chosen or used later on. They are stat-sticks for now, we'll see if they'll prove useful there.

EDIT: Just finished the offsite rolls. Before I do that, I'm going to be rolling for 1 stat of each character to get a +1 based on personality. It's what I'm doing with all of the other characters, might as well do the same here but roll for it.

Result: Relative gets Piety, Records daughter gets Learning, General and Farmer's kids both get Stewardship, and Mobolaji gets Combat.

EDIT 2: Alright, the final results are in, and I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is, you actually have 3 viable candidates for the Minister of Records from your students (with 2 in particular doing quite well!) The bad news is, every single one of the Exalted (save for you) did so awful with their Learning that MORTALS ARE VIABLE. That's how much we're going to be metaphorically scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

With that said, I have collected the rolls and the final stats and will be placing them into their own spoiler boxes below. The Records Daughter, the General's Kid and the Farmer's Kid will be moving onto the final voting process for having decent enough scores. Mobolaji is sadly too average to be placed in this area.

@Vardei and @DeadmanwalkingXI , I've updated the Turn 1 Post with a few more options if you'd like to take a look at those. I'm still trying to drum up ideas to help with the migratory route, let me know if you think of any.

Also, for those who haven't seen the edits, I've finished up the sorcery student rolls. Needless to say, some are viable for future use.

EDIT: Eh, what the heck, I'm feeling in a generous mood today. Here's my character profile for our Wood Aspect Immaculate. The other DBs, Sovereigns and Slumbering Star will all have profiles like these when it comes to the Advisor vote:

  1. What you know about Innocent Songbird is this: She is the daughter of a Patrician family in the Realm, though she is hesitant to speak about her parentage for reasons that she elaborated on later. Her family had very little of the dragon's blood flowing through their veins, so it was a pleasant surprise when she took her Second Breath in her mid-teens. From what she was willing to disclose, the family had been planning to marry her off to House V'neef for a sizable helping of money (she seems to bear Milosen no ill-will for this). In response she had left them, running away to the Cloister of Wisdom, where she was taken in as a student. During her stay, she studied one of the famous Immaculate Dragon Styles, Wood Dragon Style specifically, and was eventually taken in as a full monk of the First Coil, a phrase you do not know but from what she tells is just the status of a full initiate.

You then proceeded to ask her why she was here, and her answer was simple, though sorrowful. "I have performed an action which harmed the Order, two really, and ruined their trust in me. I showed not just mercy to an Anathema, but instructed them in our ways. Those ways were then turned against my mentors when they caught the Anathema with me. Rather than accepting my punishment, I fled from them like a coward. Now, I will likely never rejoin them or the Elemental Dragons when I die, not for several lifetimes." When you asked about her thoughts and feelings regarding your own "status," she said, "I do not have a solid answer I can give you. Once my thoughts are clear as the steady stream on the subject, I will give you my response."

On a lighter note, her answers regarding her companions were a lot more… well, it felt like a huddle of housekeepers gossiping. It was like the monk with heavy-laden shoulders had been swapped with a teenage girl, so sudden was the shift in personality and speech. "Oh, you didn't see it, but just the other day Nokun and Flaris were getting into each other's faces, and they were so close it was almost like they were going to KISS! I was SO excited to see-"and things just continued on from there. You ended up going significantly overtime thanks to this tangent.
    1. Essence 2
    2. Wood Aspect
    3. Personality: Repentant (+1 Piety)
    4. Stats: Martial 10 (+5), Diplomacy 13 (+8), Stewardship 10 (+5), Intrigue 9 (+4), Piety 13 + 1 = 14 (+9), Learning 12 (+7), Combat 15 (+10)
    5. Advantage: Wood Dragon Style (Able to use and teach the powers of the style up to the Form. Somehow, she can learn more of the style over time.)

EDIT 2: Changed the This Other Place plan with the new choices.

IIRC we have everything but a learning advisor. They aren't amazing for exalt standards, but 19 learning is still a +9 bonus. Which is better than a lot of exalts tbh.

Swapped out two actions on the This Other Place plan (lodestone and tent-making). Updating the compilation post is a good idea.

Yeah, the General's and Record Keeper's kids are actually ridiculous at Learning specifically, and one of them may make a pretty solid Records Advisor for us. And the farmer's kid is some sort of absurd omnicompetent badass.

Yeah, an Exalt (of the varieties we have access to) would need a 15 Learning to have better, which is possible, but not guaranteed by any means.
