Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

[X] Konohagakure, the Village Hidden in the Leaves, located in the Land of Fire.

Sorry, wanted Kiri but the divide is too strong.

I don't believe it strictly refers to anything outside of "Game of the Year Edition" releases for videogames. It's just a quest title for it being a Gamer-type Naruto quest.
You're not right actually you youngin of the internet, GotY stories have their own unique tropes, rules and expectations. It's often more point based, with points being used between deaths/level ups, with checkpoints through out to save your progress, and less constant cheeky interface. Observe is also not a thing?

What does game of the year mean, I am familiar with gamer fics. However this is suppose to be different?
It means... Okay, there is a relatively shit manhwa called 'the gamer', basic premise 'what if reaity is a videogame rpg?'

Game of the year is similar, but different. Game of the year is a naruto fanfic, I think it was taken down, and it came out before 'The gamer'.

Anyway it did things differently, and set the trend of gamer style fics. I think this is the fic that had naruto avatars like dobe naruto, rinnegan naruto... A score sheet (-1,000,000 died a virgin), and might have had naruto go crazy by putting the sage of six paths as Naruto's chosen religion. Or this is the very short (relatively short, small # of chapters, but thosse were long chapters) fanfic that focused on avatars of naruto.

edit: The difference is between how original the author is with a gamer setting. Between shitting on a point system, and incorporating aspects of a videogame into the plot. Game of the year is less focused on 'bound by point grind gamer fic', and more 'this is a fun written scenario'.

edit2: I think this is the story that had Jiraiya shout and demand answers from the divine with a 'the multiverse is screwed plot' in the background.

I believe the original "Game of the Year" fanfic also had Naruto getting frustrated with Haku's gender switching with each playthrough and accidentally making the game crash when he confronted Haku on it, which led to a scene younger me found hilarious where Naruto freaks out when Jiraiya starts quoting Homestuck at him because it seems like the game's crashing again. Fanfiction back in the day was wild.

[X] Kumogakure, the Village Hidden by the Clouds, located in the Land of Lightning.

If joining Orochimaru isn't an option, this is pretty much the best.

[X] Shukufuku, a humble village with no Shinobi presence, located north of the Land of Fire.

Anything other than Konoha please. For once.

With no shinobi presence, it'll be harder to grow and protect ourself. We'll essentially have no village or any backing whatsoever, so it's like playing on hard mode.

Being in a village offers a lot of benefits (teachers, training grounds, protection from rogue invaders, healing) for relatively little cost (since this is an action story, we will most likely risk life anyways, and being loyal isn't that hard).

It's silly to not affiliate yourself to a village if you can.

Indeed, and what better choice than Kirigakure!

Well, there's two reasons I'm picking Shukufuku, really.

The first is that it's the in-character choice. Our Average Joe here just wants to live quietly (reference entirely intended). That may change in the future, but for now, he'd be most likely to choose Shukufuku as the choice that would most likely give him such a life.

The second is that, out-of-character, literally every Naruto story bar one or two is set in Konoha. Furthermore, those that are not are set in one of the other major ninja villages, usually Kumo. I'd like to explore a new part of the setting, and a civilian village is exactly that: something new, an unexplored subject.

He lives a nice quiet life until the ten tails awakens and then he gets killed by one of the missed Bijuu balls exploding his town.

I'd be fine with going the civilian route and changing my vote if someone can point out 1 canon character who got even close to S class while living in a ordinary peasant village

I wanted Iwa but sure, this is a good second.

Man I want to pick Kumogakure but so many people want the civilian village.

You really have no faith in that QM can do non ninja things well do you. Beside no ninja presence dose not mean that there's no samurai or monk presence. (Iron is one of the possible starts, Rice is also one)

Even if we wanted to become a monk Konohagakure would still be a better choice than Shukufuku, due to the fire temple's Gift of the Hermit Group.

This seems pretty set. Konoha it is.

Ah well. As long as we are not in overused eyeball club I'm fine.
I'm personally hoping PC is like Guy. Perhaps we can learn under him once Lee can independently do missions.

Kirigakure is either in a civil war or will be in a civil war - it wouldn't really be a safe vote. There are advantages - we could side with Yagura and capture bloodline users to dissect for transplants - but I doubt it would get traction as a vote.

Don't really see the appeal could you explain why you want that?
Minato is probably the sexiest character in Naruto, or at least a close second. Plus, he got pretty close to EoS Naruto working without bloodline/tailed beast advantages. He's pretty cool!
