Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

Yeah, but I am not sure if Sasuke had a bunch of chunin level skills by the time he graduated. His chakra control clearly wasn't, since he had to learn Water Walking under Kakashi. Shurikenjutsu and Taijutsu most likely were. I don't recall him using genjutsu until he got his Sharingan, and he didn't notably use Transformation in his early fights?

As for non-Academy skills - He'd clearly learned the Grand Fireball, but he didn't use kenjutsu back then and also didn't use sealing / whatever. I'm not sure if he'd even clear the requirement to have 3 non-Academy skills at an adequate level.

Hmm, maybe I should watch all his Wave Arc battles so I can get a feel for his skills. I think he did fight against a chunin missing nin (the Demon Brothers?). He was fighting with Kakashi and Team 7 though, and he still doesn't seem to have the exotic non-Academy skills down.

If Genjutsu includes being aware of them and dispelling he might actually have been chunin level in it.
He's shown using Henge in the first episode and Iruka seemed ok with it.
He definitely has Ninjutsu, also the fireball, maybe trap-making and wire skills? he did prepare a kunai trap vs Kakashi in the bell test.

He never actually uses Bunshin, but nobody really does. I think the only one to ever use it was Sakura vs Ino.
Temari planned to use it, but Shika captured her before that.

And we have no reason to doubt he's good in Math and History.

Still, he has stronger competition here between us and Ino, so that might actually have pushed him a bit more.

Right now i think he's in this situation:

Of the 12 requisites for our quest he probably doesn't qualify only for a few between Chakra Control, Outdoor Survival, Stealth and Tracking, History, Mathematics.

For the three extra skills he definitely has the fireball, and he might have trap making and/or his tricks with wires.

our quest should barely put us above him if we get the 8+3 . So he's probably somewhere around 7+2. or maybe 9+1. or something like that

Don't underestimate him or even confuse him with canon-Sasuke. This class is noticeably different to canon.
Canon Sasuke was also crazily training all the aspects of ninja arts he could train though. We haven't interacted with him much to butterfly that, though I guess he could be feeling the heat due to us beating him in spars and so train harder.

Sasuke might be a bit better than canon, especially in Taijutsu as he has US as opponents, but even in canon he was really good.

Really, he was nearly chunin level by the bell test i think. In wave he easily kept up with the Demon brothers after all, with maybe an extra month or so of training and D-ranks. And just tree-walking nearly put him on par with Haku (not counting the mirrors)

@Vesvius would superhuman chakra control let us replicate tsunade's strength technique?
That's more pinnacle than superhuman, and getting it won't automatically give you the technique. You'd still have to, you know, learn the technique.
How much would a version of Eidetic Memory where we could choose what to recall in perfect memory cost, @Vesvius ? :V
More than I'm willing to allow. No dice.
Also @Vesvius the Achievement states we need to show significant skill in History / Maths, but we don't seem to have a skill for those*. Is it covered under Academics / high INT?

*I actually think this should be a separate skill. Ninja have pretty good mental math feats. Temari was able to look at Shikamaru using a wall's shadow and rapidly calculate its range down to the centimeter, for one.
It is mostly covered under INT, but you're missing something. The goal here isn't to have your stats at some absurd level. It's to demonstrate that your stats are at said high level. It will be done narratively. You can have your stats as high as you want but if you can't figure out how to show them off, they'll do you no good. Alternatively you can have shit stats, but through creative use of showmanship and cheating, you could 'show' your skills.
[X] Ask Sakura for help in Math and History in return for helping her improve her Taijutsu and Kawarimi in order for her to show up Ino. Help Ino with her math and other academically weaker areas in exchange for assistance with Shurikenjutsu. Keep them separate by keeping the seat between them, while also having Jabari and Yui keep the other occupied when you're not with them by having some training of his own (the guy needs to step up if he wants to pass anyway!). Maybe Jabari could get them to help with improve combat analyses? Yui could certainly whisk these young ladies away for proper teaching in substitution! Once you're sure they're good enough, get all three of you working together, with any fighting being met and dealt with personally by you.

I altered the writein a bit since I had the obvious flaw pointed out with my original. Nothing was keeping them from fighting while we helped solve the issues, and that could only make things worse. So, our friends are getting drafted (also helping with their actual interests to make things easier) to help defuse this timebomb.

@Vesvius is this acceptable?
Doable. Accepted.

Current trait ideas:

Sleep stamina: through conditioning and strategies, you've reduced your need for sleep. You can go longer without sleep with less detriment, and can run just fine getting up earlier and going to bed later than your peers.

Mnemonic master: These little family tricks mother taught you are finally starting to show some results! The techniques you've learned pretty handy at keeping what you've read in your mind much more easily.

Reincarnated insight: Most of your memories of your previous life have slipped away, but some is diffused into your subconcious. Occasionally, when relevant, you get flashes of insight or hunches where your old canon knowledge tickles your brain.
All are doable, but costs will vary. Mnemonic Master will be what I said the earlier trait would cost (300, IIRC), Sleep Stamina would be more like 400, and Reincarnated Insight will soup up what Daisuke already has, but not give anything new. I'll say 200 for that one.
@Vesvius I'll put my 40 exp in Chakra control.

can you tell if it helps learning jutsu faster? How about shinobi skills like ninjutsu? for example, would we get more from training Bunshin and Henge with superhuman instead of above average chakra control? I assume some techniques we simply CAN'T learn if it's not high enough

those are nice. also a lot more suitable to Daisuke than sudden perfect memory.
Heard! And yes, they will. It's easier to train stuff involving chakra if your Chakra does what you want it too after all.
I should probably get around to actually doing my homework...>_>

Nice! I have nostalgia again! Take 150 XP.

This is a more explicitly thought through write-in for what I generally had in mind, so I like it.

@Vesvius does performance not count for the secondary win condition? Is it not high enough, or do the teachers not attend school plays?

that's it. We get henge to intermediate, come to class early, pretending to be iruka and see if anyone figures it out before he shows up. No way he can ignore that.

I see it as a manipulation-based alternative to simply trying to have them talk about it (which i assume is the basic diplomacy option).

Right now it might be hard to get them to talk calmly about the problem, so with this we're both helping them feel better, avoid more outright catfights, and getting help for our quest.

Even if it doesn't work it should not make things much worse, and really, they can always make up later. They had it a lot worse in canon.

I honestly feel like we shouldn't be able to reach higher than the following thresholds without significant effort in-story.
Similar, I think gaining xp for stuff we never had any contact with just through omakes (unless canon) or art is just as game-breaking.
Just my humble opinion.

Journeyman (800 XP)
Above Average (800 XP)
Intermediate (500 XP)

free to have your opinion, but if the mechanics allow it people will take advantage of it.

After all it means Vesvius is fine with it.

Your position is basically a more extreme version of the current one, where we can't go above elite jonin level in a skill without narrative reasons.

...Now that i think about it it would make A LOT of sense to have "Mastered" techniques also limited by narrative, at least for those above a certain rank (maybe B+?). After all canon characters usually specialize only in a limited number or jutsu, and it takes them a long time to reach perfection with them.

Example: Rasenshuriken without sage mode and without clones takes Naruto until the "The Last" movie. Rasengan one handed is somewhere around Pain, or maybe a bit later. Sasuke using Chidori without seals comes only after the timeskip.

Let's have the five of us take top 5, and see how Sasuke likes being middle-of-the-pack!

Also, if we can 'discover' Naruto's amazing henge ability (like we noted in the recent update) we could try to integrate him into our group a little, and maybe have him actually pass? Unlikely, but I like long shots.

If I had to describe what this quest was about to a friend, I would say--

GotY [NARUTO]: Conflict Management for Pre-Teen Girls
also jutsus I guess.

Okay I really like the current write in by @Iandude0.

However I think it could be improved with a few addendums. First of all we should attempt to explain to them that we are all friends/potential teammates who rely on each other to help us fill in our weaknesses.

Secondly I think it would be a fantastic idea to help Naruto out with his problems in school in exchange for Henge tutoring. Maybe even teach him how to interact with Sakura and other people in a less abrasive manner.

All he really wants is attention, so he will probably be at least somewhat amenable, especially if we phrase it by saying we need his help and aren't just pitying him. Also we can say that Sakura is our friend and we can help him fix quirks of his personality she doesn't like.

In the end this will probably be extremely useful, especially if we end up on a team with him, but a more mature and stable Naruto is only a good thing.

Plus literally every social solution presented here is also training in things we aren't great at, by people who are essentially the prodigies of their generations.

@KaintukeeBob Pretty much my thoughts as well.
