Dragon Kings in the 41st Millennia (Exalted/40K Empire)

Ok, but there are only two items labeled "1 Divination AP" which is AP, not auto successes. If you replace them with the unused divination auto successes, you're still 1 over the limit. 52-2 = 50, not 49. There isn't anything leftover.
I'm not trying to be mean. I only want to be helpful.

Okay, I already took out 2 AP from the Dojo in my plan, I'm just going to put an extra Divination to help the Admin Office 3 turns from now. Thanks for checking my math.

And thats if its even necessary if you are bringing eldar gods back on line.
According to some of the Eldar stuff Ynnead is the father of at least some of Morai-Heg's children due to her acausal nature as the goddess of fate. Of course Khaine is also listed as her children's father in some of the Eldar myths as well, which is pretty RL typical of myths.

So your choice if not making Ynnead would fuck up the timeline.

Since we have well and truly left the chance to recruit a local abandoned pantheon behind here are some notes I had on them, the wyld market place would have been a three way between the Onyx court becoming essentially navigators for your, tzneetch teaching you sorcery and granting you immense favors to conquer a thousand worlds to rule as overlords, and These guys.

Me posting this means the chance to actual get this relationship with any of these is now gone.

Ancient Race: Bereshit

Noach: The fall of the Bereshit.

Tiamat: the mother of all things beyond the Primordial Waters (Pure Chaos) including the progenitor gods, the Rift (Wyld/Warp) and the Shallows (Material World). Possibly a personification of a primordial life-force or even the primordial ooze from which all life sprung. Possibly a Primordial like being that existed in this universe. Said to have been "slain" and dismembered by a being known as Marduk.

The below are the most powerful (basically an incarna down on their luck level) gods of the Bereshit pantheon. These call themselves the Progenitors under the suggestion that most of what exists that wasn't directly created by Tiamat was made by them. More exist of course either as less worshiped progenitors or the divine progeny of the progenitors. These beings have a core of wyld energy that can be sensed, but so do Jadeborn. They are remarkable stable for Wyld beings so the idea of them being some local variant of spirit or perhaps third circle souls that survived the death of a Primordial named Tiamat is possible.

Bahamut is a being of immense size, called "Unchained." It was said to be tranquil at most times, with cities and temples erected across its broad back, but to rumble with rage when displeased, responding to rebellion or heresy with apocalyptic wrath. These rampages were said to rock the foundations of the world and shake the skies. Bahumut acts as a guardian to all it cares about as everything else is inevitably more fragile than it is. In appearance it takes the form of a massive whale-like fish armored with impenetrable scales.

Temples to Bahumut allow the training of elite Guardians (not just bodyguard but guards able to do things like guard treasure or locations as well), Relics of Bahumut can evoke the aspect of Bahumut to grow warriors to massive scale and destructive power, and Arks of Bahumut can cause earthquakes on massive scales, summon giant Avatars of himself and other examples of Apocalyptic wrath as well as Adamant Circle scale protections of cities, region or when pushed the the utmost, whole planets. His displeasure at rebellion and heresy is well known and can be channeled to aide in acts of Astrology or sorcerous workings meant to find and quash such things. Using his Arks and Relics is easier when the foe is such a Rebel or Heretic.

Dagon, "the Hierarch" also called Dagon the "Arch-heretic," is a hotbed of life and sustenance - but not of ease or security. It is called "the Hierarch," and is said to give birth to countless creatures and serve as a source of "creation" in general. Religious edicts, practices, and rituals were its purview, and it rewarded compliance with full harvests and nourishment. It was the patron of faiths and fertility cults, and could call down rain when pleased or devastating storms when wrathful. It takes the appearance of a vaguely humanoid fish bearing a "beard" of tendrils.

Temples to Dagon allow the training of elite healers and boost the progress of biothaumaturgy that creates new lifeforms, Arks evoking Dagon can aid in harvests or planetary Archgenesis, or call down (or silence) devastating storms. Rituals of Dagon can be used to boost fertility or aide in astrology and workings tied to faith and cults, rewarding them... or punishing them. Dagon allows God-Forging just as Abraxan temples do, although he can manage to make high powered gods slightly more easily as long as they will quickly gain a cult. He may work with Abaxus to forge more powerful divinities than either could on their own although such a god would need to have ties from elements of both Abraxus and Dagon.

Lahamu, called "Watchful" or "The Celestial Eye," is the guide of the innumberable, described as its many ever-watchful eyes, yet itself never came to the light. From reclusive secrecy it monitored all things and declared edicts and directed its people, gifting them with prophecy and insight into the minds of others. Nothing escaped its gaze and those that attempted to deceive it would be dragged screaming towards its gaping maw. As implied Lahamu is hidden from view inside the "substrate" of existence although it has been implied she takes the form of a slug hidden under the "seafloor" with all of her innumerable eyes being eyestalks poking out of this hidden place.

Temples to Lahamu can engage in prophecy and attempt to scry distant locales (or minds) in time and space, specifically you can engage seers that work off principles that would be more familiar to Psykers. Relics and Arks evoking Lahamu allow for hiding of powerful units, small armies, even potentially small cities or star-vessels from prying eyes or can be used to reveal them if such are hidden by other methods. Rituals to Lahamu are simply more concentrated version of prophetic seeking or scrying attempts, (or attempts to conceal something from the same) although most common would be attempting to pierce a potent or veiled mind and gain insight. Large boosts to Astrology when used for divination or concealing purposes.

Nu, the "Elder," also called Naunet or Nun, is said to be the first of Tiamat's offspring, and to have the most profound connection to the Primordial Waters (Pure Chaos). It was the stirrer of the seas and the sky, having inherited their mastery from its creator, and its fluid form could go anywhere and take any shape. Nu was the most distant from the Bereshit and yet was subject to great fear and reverence, for its control shaped the known world. Knowledge of Nu remains in fragmented tales of primordial ooze and original waters from which life emerges - as well as in the terror presented by storms and floods. Nu's appearance is hard to pin down as it likely is either primordial ooze, or microscopic life from when such first formed.

Temples to Nu allow the training of elite units which gain control of their shape as if shapeshifters and a boost in ease of recruiting gene-forged shape shifting warriors. Relics and Arks evoking Nu can be used to reshape the world, especially the waters and tides. Rituals calling upon Nu tend to be used to acts of Genesis, that is the alteration or wholesale creation of lifeforms. Easiest being the creation or "curing" of the simplest of lifeforms, such as disease, as such Temples of Nu allow a major bonus in Astrology or sorcerous workings to create, spread, detect, or inhibit the spread of diseases.

Oceanus, the "Father-of-Seas," is said to have been granted dominion over a greater portion of the Bereshit masses due to its incredible beauty and allure. As a deity of a people, it was said to have created the rivers and lakes that sustained them, all in exchange for irrational fealty and servitude. If denied reverence, it would break the minds of the rebellious, or turn their families upon them in furious storms of zealous violence. Even among the Progenitors, it was a source of horror, for the wrath of Oceanus had faces and names; it would come as a loved one with a culling blade. Oceanus is beautiful and terrible to look upon, whatever your standards of beauty. This usually involves bright colors and brilliant halos.

Temples of Oceanus may train elite diplomats/cult leaders. Relics evoking Oceanus bring his glorious light upon the target's of the evocation making them so beautiful and alluring it transcends limits of species or capacity to appreciate. Arks of Oceanus may manipulate rivers and lakes or can be used to break the minds of targets either into pure madness or in betrayal (ie you can do rituals which make an enemy unit turn on its allies or go crazy and self destruct). Astrology and Workings intended to encourage fealty or servitude and punish rebels gain a major benefit.

Tannin, called "the Unbending" and the "Sinner-Devouring," is hailed as the foremost predator. It was said to stalk the Primordial Waters, unseen but all-seeing, wreathed in gaping jaws and poisonous spines. Those that crossed its path, if found wanting, would be devoured without hesitation or remorse - Tannin's mouth was the gate of Hell. Whole nations of rebels were said to have disappeared between its razored teeth. It is immortalized in the stories of devouring beasts and the images of Hellmouths, as well as mortal race's terror of the predators of the deep blue sea. In appearance all that can be made out is one method of killing and devouring after another, the only other consistency in description is glowing eyes that see through all deceptions.

Temples of Tannin can train elite hunters of corruption, just don't expect them to be gentle if they find it. Relics evoking Tannin can be used to summon a lesser aspect of his being for purposes of sending a "sinner" to "Hell." Arks can summon more powerful creatures or area effect "Cleansing" rituals (cleansing is definitely a euphemism here). Rituals calling on Tannin can be used to prevent deceptions and view corruptions, so astrology and workings intended to pierce deceptions, or find corrupted gain a major benefit... as long as you do not have pleasant intentions for the target when you find them.

"Island-Breaking" Thalassa or "Mighty-Armed" Thalassa, is a being of the deep, suited to the pressure of the seas. Its power and grace were legendary, both raising up landmasses with its strong arms and gracefully sculpting mountain ranges or delicate palaces and temples of coral - or destroying them with singular, devastating blows. It was a being of fluid form but impossible strength, as much appeased as revered. It survives as in legends of treasure guarded by mighty beasts and the mythology of crafted terrain - mountains said to be the bodies of immense beasts felled in bygone days, or collapsed piles marking a captured titan. Thalassa is a divinity of wealth, power and status to all which can appropriately appease him. Thalassa possesses a crab-like exoskeleton and some of his arms are powerful grasping claws but others are as much elemental sea and storm as flesh and can be used to shape the heavens.

Temples to Thalassa can be used to commission elite traders or merchants, evocations praying to Thalassa use mighty sacrifices to create "wealth"(for example the genocide of a sapient race might fuel the wholesale creation of a garden world). Rituals calling upon Thalassa use lesser sacrifices to placate him before journeys or comparable business endeavours, insuring smooth travel and no disruptions. Whether the cargo and journey or business enterprise was worth the sacrifice is another matter (and usually depends upon how favored of Thalassa you are). Relics can grant the user tremendous power and grace, incredible toughness, and enhanced craftsmanship. Arks may be used to raise up or destroy landscape, create cities or manses instantly, or pushed to the extreme can shatter a world.

I like how you've blended a bunch of ancient deities with a Cthulhu mythos flavour.

I thought that we couldn't get them even if we built the market place since we had a bunch of other stuff.

Fate of Ivory Flame
Omake

Soaring Flaxen Wings completed the warding to complicate efforts to spy on the meeting before assuming her perch near the conference table. At the head of the table was One Hundredth Warrior, who Wings knew best as Fist of Bitter Iron in another age. A better age, one where the Anklok hadn't scarred his handsome face with silver and remembered how to laugh without it sounding like it was at someone's expense. Stalwart Daughter was the youngest here, the Raptok being tutored by Secret Tsunami in the clandestine arts needed to keep society safe and also one of two who'd known the topic of discussion before the incident.

After Wings had gotten her stylus ready to take notes, Warrior clarified the purpose of the meeting. They all knew the reason, or at least most of it, but records were important for these sorts of thing. "Two days ago a senior apprentice at the Brilliant Descending Hammer foundry was hospitalized after producing an orichalcum macuahuitl of uncommon potency. The forgemaster, Elder Charhrik, was in seclusion following a fourteen hour session synthesizing Moonsilver for Project Perfected Sphere and was unavailable for comment during the incident. He did however give a character reference for" here he glanced down at his notes. They were warded with a prayer to the Maiden of Secrets to keep the words or images on its surface from making sense to any who looked upon it save for whomever was keyed in. "Ivory Flame. He said the apprentice had been seized by a fell mood months ago and sequestered himself. Elder Charhrik assured me that the occasional manic fit focused on the creation of an item is both known and, in moderation, desirable in an artisan. Apparently he was going to evaluate the work upon its completion for elevation to journeyman, though that seems unlikely now. Stalwart Daughter, what has your investigation revealed?"

The Raptok stood and did a good job of not looking intimidated by the age confronting her. "Ivory Flame was admitted to my clinic with acute malnutrition, sleep deprivation and lacerations of the intestinal tract congruent with Waking Life Drought, as well as a number of second and third degree burns from molten metal. He remains alive for now, though his recovery is in the hands of the gods right now." She winced at the idiom, but none of the others seemed to notice the slip of the tongue.

"Pardon me" Wing said, pausing her transcription "Waking Life Drought? I'm not familiar with that one."

Stalwart Daughter nodded. "I'm not surprised, it's not common for a reason. It's a stronger version of the Drought of Blessed Respite in that the imbiber remains awake and alert rather than resting efficiently. This is done by acting as a catalyst for vital energies within the body, which in a healthy person generally results in hospitalization and in someone whose vital energies are already stressed generally kill the imbiber unless they are near appropriate medical resources. The Realm keeps a small supply of the potion in our stockpiles, but other than taking a partial dose under controlled circumstances so soldiers know what it's like I don't think we've used any since-" The Raptok seemed to remember how old the rest of the room was and what 'sensitive subject' meant before gracelessly changing what she was going to say to "since I've been alive."

Soaring Flaxen Wings didn't say anything to that, and One Hundredth Warrior loudly didn't say anything, but Secret Tsunami snorted causing his protégé to wilt a bit. "We'll need to track down how the kid got ahold of so many doses, but given what we already know and suspect I think we all can guess. Apprentice craftsdragon with access to a proper workspace to make an artifact, completely believable. Access to several Obol of magical materials, he shouldn't have access to so much but that sort of overreach has happened before and it might not even be the kid's fault. Given who picked up the blessed thing-"

"We'll get to that." One Hundredth Warrior cut off. "Soaring Flaxen Wings, did the vision questors discover something?"

The Pterok nodded. She didn't need to consult her scroll, unlike her Anklok friend. This wasn't because of an innate power or simple intellectual advantage, but when she heard the news she knew she wasn't going to forget it. "Ivory Flame's prior incarnation was Towering Bulwark Flame, and he was at the Screaming Meadows." Her two peers winced at that, Tsunami even muttering a heartfelt prayer to the Unconquered Sun for compassion for the poor damn slipscale. Stalwart Daughter, fortunately, kept her mouth shut.

The Battle of the Ever-Resounding Shriek, or the Screaming Meadows, happened late in The War and was noted as being among the more unpleasant encounters in a war that was defined by horrific, mind-shattering things. The details were fortunately few, but whenever a Third Circle Deva of the River of All Torments took notice of those who would wade in their waters.... Wings cut off that line of thought as being unproductive.

There was a long silence, finally broken by Tsunami. "That confirmed?"

Warrior nodded. "Lord Final Hymn spoke to me about it. The youth approached him to speak about it, and it was agreed that he would be allowed to be sandblasted with grit from one of the Adamant Crucibles as his remembrance." Something that could almost have been a wan smile of approval. "Apparently he bore it well, and when the other workers tried to call him 'Glitterscale' Elder Charhrik put a stop to it, as is proper." Stalwart Daughter was obviously feeling left out of the conversation, but like a good operative let her superiors talk over her while keeping her ears open. "Their past life is noted, please continue."

"There was some sort of working using Towering Bulwark Flame as a channel. Ildiko the Pillar lost his Lunar Mate and his wife went mad enough that she had to be put down. When he was unable to bear his grief, Venus stole it from him and cast it into the dream Ivory Flame had. The only way for him to bear it was to make it into..." the Pterok stopped herself from naming the artifact. Not from any fear of the thing itself, but because it was stressed by the gods that to name it was the sole prerogative of its intended wielder. "Into the artifact of discussion."

That caused a bit of thoughtful frowning all around the table. "That will be another thing to follow up on, then. It is not often one of the Maidens shows her hand, and to do so as obviously as this..."

Secret Tsunami snorted. "If you're seeing the hand, it's only to distract you from whatever they're really doing. But yes, concur."

"The artifact in question" Warrior continued "Was taken into custody at the hour of its completion by Nysela and removed to an armory in Teteocon. In her company was Little Beam, five Celestial Lions and two flights of Aurichim. Instructions for the non-discussion of the artifact in question were given at that time."

The old Mosok stroked his jaw in thought for a moment. "Well, the disposition of the artifact seems to be in order, but there are some interesting possibilities open to us concerning young Ivory Flame. So, here's what we're going to do...."

That was something I said. someone argued with me so I took it back. Its triple dead at this point though.
I never heard anything about you taking it back. So I gave up on it as you said it was not going to happen (QM's word is law unless told other wise by QM). If I had known I would have tried to push for it more.

You told us that we could not get them any more before this point, and you never told us you took it back, as such you effectively did not take it back. You left us thinking we had no chance and now you are saying we had one only after that chance is gone. @StarJaunter the way you just did this tells me very strongly that you did not want us to pick this possibility. :mad2:
It was an extremely disingenuous and dishonest of you. Effectively you have cheated us out of that option by not telling us that you were giving us that chance after you told us that it was gone.

//Edit: Sorry I am just very upset  I tried hard to get this. It feels like I was punched in the gut.

I know it sucks, but I think you are being too uncharitable. I have made similiar mistakes in the past. Humans are fallible beings.

Did you made such mistakes as a QM? Did you own up to such mistakes and apologize? Or did you leave people just swinging in the wind. Not telling us that the option was still there after telling us it was not, is the same denying us that choice. If it was a mistake than an apology is in order. Humans maybe fallible beings but does that excuse not apologizing for those failings? If I am being uncharitable it is because if I had made such a mistake I would be so hard on my self and would apologize for the mistake, instead of just saying I took it back and did not tell you after it would be effectively impossible to fix.

I am trying to see it from the QM's position but it is really hard to do so when I feel so cheated and hurt.

Someone (maybe you) made almost this exact argument, so I said Fine I would allow it. THAN NOTHING HAPPENED!

So its dead, resurrected, dead again, and a hotel was built over the cemetery.

Okay can we adjust our plans to build the wyld marketplace this turn and get them?

It WAS you.

Was about to say no but you know what sure.

It will absolutely NOT be quite as good as if you had done it 20 turns ago though.

Boom, YOU asked, I quoted you, said you could do it on the next turn, it didn't happen, so the Wyld Market is officially dead and I was an awesome QM who allowed a second chance and should not be critiqued at all.

The forgemaster, Elder Charhrik, was in seclusion following a fourteen hour session synthesizing Starmetal for Project Perfected Sphere and was unavailable for comment during the incident.

Small note that starmetal is not synthesizable, maybe declare it moonsilver. Thats the material you cannot source another way than an elder slaving over an adamant crucible.

Soaring Flaxen Wings completed the warding to complicate efforts to spy on the meeting before assuming her perch near the conference table

1 AP to anything

You can do 3 AP to
[ ] Administrative Oversite Revisions: Because its a bureaucratic meeting
[ ] Mark IV Not-Heavy Sonic Cannon: Because of the heavy referenced to sonic battlefields
[ ] Noble Warstrider Design: With the implication the artifact Ivory Flame designed was a warstrider
[ ] Alchemical Design Solutions (Champion): with the implication its a weapon for a Transdraconic Champion
[ ] Hymn of Judgement: For several of the combined reasons above

If we get a chuni name for it we can also say this has created a Rank 5 Artifact a weapon filled with Grief and Trauma.
*Not sure if it would be better if it made a battlefield more noisy and memetic hazardy by being there or if it made a battlefield distressingly silent. Like: "Peace among scattered blossoms" or something else.

Leviathan the tempest? Or culture chronicle now I suppose.

I see a fellow cultured individual. Although I have only checked things out as of the Tempest. I have not kept up with the updates upon conversion to the culture chronicle.

I am trying to see it from the QM's position but it is really hard to do so when I feel so cheated and hurt.
I had not read this post before discovering it was you who convinced me to give permission to try again and such permission explicitly has you quoted on it and it only burns like acid in my soul to read it now.

I'm sorry and apologize for that and for lashing at you :(😔🙇‍♂️.

I had thought that I had convinced them to try but apparently the chance was not properly recognized or was disregarded. Then later it felt like it had just been not given in the first place. Every one just seemed to passively ignore that chance and let it fade away.

To be honest I was actively ignoring it. We've already got one set of pantheon recruitment quests (for a pantheon that WoG was better) plus our Oaths, plus our domestic concerns, plus StarJaunter said there would be conflict trying to curry favor with both the Wyld Marketplace pantheon and the Aeldari gods. These gods sound cool but the fact of the matter is we're busy enough with our current divine dealings that the time and effort to not only recruit these gods but also the additional resources required to prevent jealousy and friction by shooting for both didn't seem worth it.

There has been a year hiatus. In my opinion there is too much to keep track of or remember in this quest. If the QM does not remind us of it we will forget.

What I've got in my notes is "Orphaned Peal of Heart's Release", and that in addition to the actual effects that you'd expect from a 5 dot artifact a killing blow releases a single note that to a discerning ear (ie, someone with Telltale Symphony, All-Seeing Sorcerer's Sight or See the Winds of Essence) that provides a hook for divination involving the deceased (for Dragon Kings it's probably their astrological profile) and probably is a useful tool in dealing with Fetters.

I'm tempted by AOR but I'm still mulling over my options. Input from the peanut gallery is invited.
