Digging for Nations in the Desert (No SV, You are a Micronation in the End of the World)

Outer Heaven OP PLZ NERF
Hypothetical future Wargame: Red Dragon chat room
Outer Heaven OP PLZ NERF
SRSLY. Their infantry just don't care what is sent their way. They have shredded far to many tanks, and even bombers need to beware of their Manpads! And that's even before going in the few vehicles they field. I know their big weakness is simply lacking much beyond infantry but it feels like they Overbalanced that here!
Lesson 1 when fighting Outer Heaven, unsecured towns are nothing but death traps lulling you into a false sense of security. Every forest is a potential ambush spot, or even little areas out where there seems to not be much cover might hold an ambush. More so than any other faction, they love their ambushes. Lesson 2, losses are guaranteed, the quality gap is a given, the only chance to win lies on their small numbers, skewed heavily towards infantry. So, they feel losses harder than you, especially if the losses are vehicles. Lesson 3, SCOUT, SCOUT, SCOUT! No matter who you play against, scouting is the difference between victory and defeat, and Outer Heaven can punish insufficient scouting far more heavily.
So the Queen of mercenaries essentially trades significant armor and aircraft for significant extreme quality infantry? Town assaults are probably hell against that faction.
And lots of smoke are needed to not just get murdered by anti-tank rockets if one needs to get slightly too close, due to the rockets better range
So many people assume tanks are some ultimate force. The series quickly disabuses people of that notion, and few manage to stick as big a middle finger of the concept as Outer haven.
And got forbid if they start spawn camping you with their equivalent of Special forces.
Are towns chewing up and spitting out massive convoys a regular thing in this game?
Well, yes, especially if you are dumb enough to mass move them through an unsecured town. You don't even need Outer Heaven level infantry to cause that level of devastation. It's just much easier for them, especially as they could make roads by forests just as dangrous, even if it is more dangerous for their infantry.
Isn't logistics kind of vital for any of that? As in the moment a unit runs out of ammo, they can't shoot?
Everyone needs to do logistics, which is only so much of a relief when spec ops blows up hundreds of points worth of units before running out.
But still is certainly vital no matter who you play as.
...So Outer haven has arguably the best infantry in the game?
...So Outer haven has arguably the best infantry in the game?
Hell yes they do!
That is kind of their one major advantage that aren't risk of vanishing after a few casualties, thanks to just how few tanks and aircraft they have. At least every infantry comes with an APC or IFV.

Why did Egypt and Sudan pursue Outer haven till collapse?
Why did Egypt and Sudan pursue Outer haven till collapse?
This is a question many groups asked after the two nations pushed themselves to collapse trying to take out Outer Haven. Recent investigations have however found a possible explanation. Namely, the death of Abdulla Salafi which contributed to the powder keg being lit seems to have been set off due to a bunker being raided, which seems to have been located in Outer Haven Land. Considering just how convenient that was, it is almost certain this has colored their perception of her from the beginning, possibly even explaining why that now infamous tank raid happened. Presumably, they likely assumed that she was trying to turn the 'civilians' against them. Though that still don't explain the exact reason why said attack went so badly. And then there was the UN meeting, where their warnings fell on death ears, and Li Mia, the woman seemingly responsible for everything wrong, managed to talk half the world into recognizing her, and presumably having bribed the US with promises of oil. And honestly, in light of that perspective, is it any wonder they threw everything at wiping out what was 'merely' a tiny micronation?

A New Age, And New Equipment
A New Age, And New Equipment

(Agent Fields POV)

Samuel J. Fields was a tailor's son, born in West Virginia to a Seamstress and a Tailor, he took up the Needlework and textile as all men in his family did at such a young age.

He learned materials and their qualities like Hemp, Cotton, Silk and even Leather when the need arose. He only got into college on his Ball throwing arm and his eye for detail made him perfect for field work.

He promised to never wear cotton underwear in the South East ever again.

So much Chaff in places where chaff should not be…Ugh.

But looking at him now was his direct superior, looking at him square in the face wondering out loud if he could do what he's asking.

"Run that by me ONE more time sir?" You asked. "I was zoning out thinking of materials that might need to use?"

Your Superior, Agent Goose, was not a man who was asked to repeat himself often, but the reality was…the request was ODD as all hell. Even in the Oddness of the Cold War's state department.

Goose sighed. "I want a multi-purpose Combat and Infiltration Battle Dress, for CIA Operatives across the World when forced to engage in with and against Local forces."

"Is this about the Condor shit that we're planning on doing…because if its that we can get equipment from the South Americans instead of-" You started.

"No..it's Not about Condor…god who the fuck told you about that plan going down?" He said.

"Steve and Bob, they chatted about that at the Water Cooler while moving files for the Central American guys." You said.

"God…I really have to to tell the Central American Guys to stop fucking around with what they chat about." He said.

"Sir..you deal with Asia" You noted.

"That I do…and I'm only here to check in before going back out into that Power Struggle." He said.

"So…Multi-Purpose Battle Dress?" You said getting back on topic.

"Can it be done?" He said.

"How insulated do you want it?" You asked

"Yes…I want it insulated enough so a man can walk in a blizzard at night in Alaska or high noon in the deserts of Arizona and still have all his fingers and toes when it's over." He said.

"Thats going to be a hell of a thing? Anything else?" You said.

"Well I know its not your specialty? But can an updated version of our old Noise muffler soles be made in order to increase sneaking and infiltration viability?" He said.

"That techs a bit old…but I'm sure we can talk up the older guys for an updated model." You said.

"Good, now is anything else required?" You asked.

"You know the Flak Jackets and the attempt at making it more effective? Kevlar Plates?" He said.

"Yeah you want them on the vitals right? I'll try to make it work." You said.

"Oh and Feilds…You have Four Weeks to get this done." He said.

"Why?" You asked, wanting to know why such an order would be given.

"Because CIA assets are being deployed into Egypt with the Military forces to eliminate radicals and hostile elements." He said.

"Shouldn't we leave that to the Military?" You said.

"State Department wants us to put some faces in the Press and we need to look good, after Nam and Guangchou kicked our ass politically its time for some work in the light instead of the Shadows." He said.

"Isn't that against our Mandate?" You said.

"We need the PR, and Helping the Boy's is a good thing." He said.

---------------------------------------------

Weeks Later.

"Understand it's a Prototype and hasn't had all the kinks worked out." You said.

"The Balaclava?" He asked.

"Can't keep everything warm in the snow, so it comes with." You said.

"How quick can field testing begin?" He said observing the Two agents wearing the Suits.

"As soon as we make a few more Prototypes in order for it to be tested in as wide an array of environments as possible."You said.

"Make the Order to a Dozen and begin field tests immediately." He said. "Anything I should know Agent?" He said.

"I made and selected all the material personally and sewed it myself with my Mom's help." You said.

"You let your Mother run around sewing a CIA Battle Dress?" He said.

"My machine at home broke and I had to use her old one and she offered to Help Goose…she also made Dad help me take care of my kids because my Wife is in a big legal thing in Washington." You said.

"You could have called and we would have helped." He said.

"I know…" You said.

"And the Fitting Pictures?" He said.

"Mom thought I was making a Halloween Costume." You said.

He smiled.

"Well, at least field testing will be easy." He said.

"Did you slap Lind for me while I was away?" You said.

"You know I did." He said.

------------------------------------------

"So…we're making the SEAL's do all the tests for us?" You said.

"Yeah…what is it a bad choice." He said.

"No it's just…odd that's all." You said.

And so the New BDU was being tested for the field and the many challenges ahead.

You only hoped that they would continue to make them by hand.

AN: The US will make a good decision, even if it is only related to Style and equpment!

The Queensguard and their nature as airmobile Force
The Queensguard and their nature as airmobile Force
Around the same age, if not older than our own, it would be prudent to understand their strategy and tactics, especially with how crucial such forces were in Vietnam, and likely other areas we may face. They have earned quite a reputation for their speed, mobility, and awareness. They seem to focus on trying to complete contracts quickly, even becoming somewhat known for trying to use the helicopters they have to airlift heavy equipment like tanks and artillery they have access to. While they seem to have had issues near the start of the career, it seems like their leader, unsatisfied with the results had them practice and experiment how to do it semi-reliably. Something which had come to serve them well, thanks to some of their missions where they managed to deal with forces prepared for their airdrop, by rolling in tanks from unexpected angles. Though there are rumors that the leader is trying to look for someone to make a new helicopter, though what exactly she wants isn't clear, though possibly looking to get a helicopter reliably able to carry all the newer tanks and such being developed?
It seems like the Queensguard generally tries to deploy from an angle that is not anticipated, sometimes choosing to ford a river if they think their enemy believes that to be an unlikely path. Though sometimes they seem to deploy forward scouts, that sometimes are able to take out key elements of the defense to allow safer use of helicopter support. Though there are some cases where they set up artillery in odd places using airlift capability to try and sow confusion, or obfuscate it's location.

Interlude: More Oil Than God, More Water than an Ocean.
Interlude: More Oil Than God, More Water than an Ocean.

You had raised an eyebrow as you looked at the paperwork. The man who had been before you was a minner that had formerly, worked for the Saudis before he broke his oath to his king, and converted from Islam, to be his Wife's faith. He was also an Egyptologist, someone who knew what the Ancient Egyptians were doing. To an extent.

He had been one of the best, a surveyor that had, for decades looked out into the desert sands of Arabia, and not only saw Gold under its sands but influence. Power.

Just as people are power, you know that resources are power. And depending on the resources, it can mean the difference between wealth, or destruction.

Or in your case, become the Queenpin for all of the worlds to focus on.

"Say it again, one more time?" You asked as you looked at the map.

"What you are looking at, is the Map of the Region, the Triangle, and the surrounding five hundred square miles, north and south. You see on the Western side, there is large, rocky gravel that is common in the desert, Much of this land, used to have marble and stones that were moved from the South to the North, this is one of the places they assume where they got some of the material to build the pyramids. but, look fifteen feet deeper from topsoil, you will see not only the remnants of former settlements from the ancient times but Water."

He pointed towards the Nile. "We were wondering how this settlement could exist, this far from the Nile. Then we realized that the Nile, perhaps back millennia, had other, smaller tributaries." He pointed to the map. "Under our feet, is a still actively flowing tributary, of an underground aquifer that surfaces into the Nile."

"You mean it's connected to the Nile, and buried by over fifty miles, and it can be… surfaced by simple excavation?" You asked. "How much water is there?"

"Enough Freshwater to greenfly the Desert we are here… and of course, maybe even beyond."

"Will that affect the oil?" You asked.

"Yes, and no." That made the man shake his head. "That is where the Oil comes in."

He then pointed to another map. "Twenty feet below that, at the maximum range of modern drilling and extraction technology that we have, is the largest oil reserves I believe in all of Mainland Africa. From here all the way to the Red Sea. We are at the shallowest point of the entire Reserves, and in a place like this, it's little wonder why they never found it. Everywhere else is too deep to get to, or too isolated to even try.."

"How much oil?" You asked.

"If I am being conservative… as large as Saudi Arabia's currently. If I'm being in my speculations?" He laughed. "Enough to fuel the world for the next three hundred years."

You frowned. "How the hell did everyone miss this?" You asked.

"No one knew where to look. But of course, that leads us to a problem."

"And what problem will that be?" YOu asked.

"Water, or Oil?"

You frowned. "Why not both?"

"The problem is, if we start drilling for the Oil and are not careful, there is a very large chance that this water reserve and the river will flow pollutants into the Nile, and it will Poison everything in it, it will kill Egypt and possibly every nation that has it flows through it." He paused. "We could kill millions of people. And make the entire region worse."

"And that is just a hypothesis?" You asked.

"A guess, The marble that is in between the River and the Oil could still be thick enough as long as we are careful…" He paused. "I just don't know."

What do you decide?:

[]Unearth the River: You are going to reconnect the river to its tributary on the Surface. Doing something, and reversing what the Egyptians, at least in theory, did almost 5,000 years ago. (Will begin a large project to bring a river to the surface. Will not have any risk of starting an environmental catastrophe. Will make Drilling for oil harder.) Reward: Sustincene Agriculture, Comercial, will move up to Meh, and can be made to Perfect Levels

[]Dig for Oil: YOu need the Crude to supply a new industry and build up. The World runs on oil now, not water. (You will start drilling for oil. There is a moderate risk for an environmental catastrophe, and every four turns, if you do not invest in it and they succeed, there may be an accident.) Reward: Oil industry will be set to Meh, And can be made all the way to Excellent

[]Do Both: You are going to be mad, but who fucking cares, you are doing to do the impossible. And you will succed. (You do both projects. Be Warned if one Fails, the Other Will as well! And if the Oil Fails, the Nile will forever be contaminated and the entire world will want to kill you!) Reward: The oil industry will be set to Meh, And can be made all the way to Excellent. Sustincene Agriculture, Comercial, will move up to Meh, and can be made to Perfect Levels

AN: enjoy.

The Red Tsarina Plots Her Revenge
I decided to write another omake. No idea if it's canon or not though.

The Red Tsarina Plots Her Revenge

Elisebeth Spencer was having a very bad day. Though, to be more accurate, she was having a very bad year. Oh, things had started off so promising when she had managed to set up her Commune of Southern Cambridge within the Bir Tawil Triangle and somehow convinced the Soviets to support her. But then that fucking dyke from the same island of disgusting degenerates that her own damned father had come from had come along and ruined everything! If she hadn't blown up her own base in the nick of time, she would never have managed to escape, and even then, she had nearly died from the blood loss she had incurred. She had spent weeks in a hospital bed, praying that the bitch would die a gruesome death, either killed by her neighbors or by a tribe of savages or by Chinese assassins. But no, not only had Lia Mia survived against all odds, she had fucking prospered.

Elisebeth glared at the TV as it showed Lia Mia making a speech to the United Nations. Who did this pretentious bastard think she was? It should have been her up on that stage, introducing her new commune to the world and extolling the virtues of a revitalized Communist British Empire. Not this disgusting waste of a whore! With one sharp swing, Elisebeth threw the remote so hard at the television that it smashed through the glass screen. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself down as sparks flew from what was left of the TV. Everything was going to be just fine. After all, she had noble blood running through her veins. She was practically destined for glory.

The sound of a ring suddenly cut into her thoughts and her eyes flashed over to the red phone on the table next to her. Her heart pounding in her chest, she pulled the receiver next to her ear. "Hello?"

"Congratulations, Spencer. Looks like all your pestering has paid off. The Premier has agreed to lend you support with your plans to reconquer the Bir Tawil Triangle. You'll get a full debriefing on the details tomorrow morning at 9. Don't be late."

Elisebeth slowly put the phone down and started giggling to herself. Finally, her prayers were being answered! "I'm coming for you, Lia Mia," she whispered, a crazed look in her eyes. "I'm coming for you."

Turn 10: Death Is Not the End
Turn 10: Death Is Not the End

You were, frankly, annoyed at the whole thing. It was going by slowly, and you were sure that if it were not for the fact that half the people who were working on this project would rather be wishing to be fighting some foreign war someplace else, they would. This nation of mercenaries and outcasts was willing to listen to you and follow you out from hell, but that is not the point.

Progress was going slow. You had managed to make sure the river was seen, and with some clever working and engineering skills from some refugees, you were able to keep the water from being evaporated.

The effects, at least for the moment, were immediate. Life, fish, and algae were growing, and seaweed and other kelp were beginning to sprout and grow.

It was something.

Now you just needed to discover something amazing!

History:

Employer Testimonials:

Deployable Strength is essentially how many forces any company can bring to bear. Depending on the category of the company, it's either counted a formations (infantry company, armored battalion, etc) or number of employees excluding administrative staff and stuff.

Experience is rated from lowest to highest: green, regular, veteran, elite

Reliability takes into account the company's record, the employees records, and stuff like discipline and stuff. From lowest to highest: Questionable, regular, reliable, fanatical

Equipment Rating grading on a scale of F to S. Grades how well a company's employees come equipped. As an example, a company with an A rating can be relied on to provide enough of their own equipment to equip their forced like a modern military formation. D would be if a company can barely provide machine gun armed Toyota Hiluxes. An F rated company likely couldn't provide that. This rating isn't necessarily an end all be all however, as it doesn't take into account training or technical proficiency if an employer provides equipment for the purposes of the job.

Support Rating grading on a scale of F to S. Grades how completely a company can logistically support the employees and equipment in the numbers that they usually work in. A for if the company's own resources provides enough food, ammo, training, spare parts, technical support, and logistical support to a "large" number of deployed employees. D for if they can just about keep a handful of dudes in the fight. F for if they can't even provide that. As an aside, this does not count how well a company would be supported if they had access to an employer's resources.

Job ratings are based on stars, with lowest being ☆☆☆☆☆ and highest being ★★★★★, a rating which is entirely subjective and based both on historical performance, kit, Li Mei's personal assessments, and the prejudices of people she consults with.

Concerns consists of various issues regarding character and business practices of the company seen by various organizations from Li Mei's personal prejudices, to her associates' judgements, to various human rights watchdogs.

Dragoon Rating is a near entirely subjective "Quick and Dirty" rating with the Lowest at ♡♡♡ and Highest at ♥♥♥. It's based on Li Mei's gut feeling and the perception of various drinking buddies friends consultants on how they view a particular company. Reasons and rationale behind the dragoon rating can be obtained via the Soldier of Fortune phone line for a fee. It's for the kinds of things that just can't be quantified by rating on a stat sheet.

History is fairly straightforward and consists of a timeline of notable events, about two paragraphs long.

Employer testimonials is also straightforward, as select reviews are published by the newsletter, and additional reviews can be requested through the Soldier of Fortune hotline and sent by fax or mail at only a nominal fee.

Turn 11: Let There Be Power!
Turn 11: Let There Be Power!

-[X]Balance the Powers: You know for a damn certain fact that there is going to be a war coming your way, and now is the time to see if you can't stop these idiots from killing themselves over little old you. (Cost 3 Control) Rolled: D100 + 30 => 52

It wasn't that simple, but in the end, those idiots managed to not only have a nice diplomatic chat but only threatened to kill you once and bomb you to the stone age twice.

After you had shown how little things like bombs and threats from people more powerful than you, lost their effect ages ago.

And after you showed how utterly incompetent they were… well, let's just say that they started begging to stop.

Reward: You managed to get them to at least pause, enough for you to truly fuck them as they should.

The Aftermath was glorious.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-[X]Offer Humanitarian Observers: The UN Observers are here. Time to give them the Grand Tour (Cost 2 Control) Rolled:D100 + 30 => 113+D100 + 30 => 112+D100 + 30 => 110+D100 + 30 => 72=407

Secretary Abdelaziz Bouteflika felt warm, but not nearly as warm as the hundreds that were prepared and huddled at the camp set up by the Mercenaries of… Outer Heaven, he preferred calling it the English name for simplicity's sake, as many of the… members were not exactly fond of it's full, grandiose title that it's leader had.

But he could only be in awe as he saw the organization, not only in the safety and security of the camps but also in many of the ways supplies were organized and handled, not only with grace and care but also in the manner that it arrived.

Helicopters from nations with volunteers, coming from Ethiopia and Yemen, came and went every half hour, their supplies were counted, organized and out in less than an hour.

He had never seen such efficiency, not even in the UN's own peacekeeping operations.

He looked at Lei Mei, and asked. "Why do you do this?"

"Good reviews mean good pay." She stated. "We're mercenaries, not monsters."

And those words struck him deep.

Reward: THe UN is considering bringing on anyone who worked on this crisis for a substantial fee to help and commit to peacekeeping operations around the world.

You prove to the World you are not monsters.
--------------------------------------------------

-[X]Finding Common Ground: You want to find some nations that will not kill you given the chance.(Cost 3 Control) Rolled:D100 + 30 => 88

You had met with Saudi Arabia, who was very keen and interested to make friends with you.

It was fruitful, but you feared that the way he spoke to advisors made you fear he had other plans, and he wanted to do more than just be friends with you.

Reward: You think that there is something going on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
-[X]That One Security Mission: So you have a simple mission, go to China and Protect a Hong Kong national that is trying to escape. What can go wrong? (Cost 4 Control) Rolled:D100 + 60 => 158+D100 + 60 => 131+D100 + 60 => 134+D100 + 60 => 156+D100 + 60 => 101+D100 + 60 => 123+D100 + 60 => 99+D100 + 60 => 120+D100 + 60 => 130+D100 + 60 => 112+D100 + 60 => 75= 1339

You only had one thing to say to these fuckers.

You were never going to let them live this humiliation down.

(Continued in Interlude: Li Mei, Makes a Huge Statement)

-[X]THIS ENDS NOW! (Egypt): You are not in the mood for a pisspoor neighbor, run by idiots! You are going to end this civil war, and then you are going to get drunk. (Cost 4 Control) Rolled:D100 + 60 => 118+D100 + 60 => 118+D100 + 60 => 88=324
-[X]THIS ENDS NOW! (Sudan!): You are not in the mood for a pisspoor neighbor, run by idiots! You are going to end this civil war, and then you are going to get drunk.(Cost 4 Control) Rolled:D100 + 60 => 96+D100 + 60 => 133+D100 + 60 => 105+D100 + 60 => 95+D100 + 60 => 87=516

This message is for all the Rebels and Islamists that are fighting. This is your one and only warning.

My men are about to roll right on in and kill you all. There will be no mercy, there be no quarter. I am not interested in politics, your grievances, or Islam.

I care about the peace and stability of Egypt and Sudan. I care about its citizens that are dying now, and suffering from your stupidity.

This war will end with me killing you all, and shattering your nations into the wind like you were naught but a glass.

You have 24 hours to comply with this message. If you continue, you will all die.

The message was clear.

And in the end, they listened.

Reward: The Wars End, and there is much to rebuild.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Peacekeeping the Peacekeepers: You don't trust the Americans. So you're going to keep their peacekeeping operations to your standards. (Cost 7 Control) Rolled:D100 + 60 => 158+D100 + 60 => 127+D100 + 60 => 104+D100 + 60 => 156+D100 + 60 => 120+D100 + 60 => 133+D100 + 60 => 140+D100 + 60 => 158+D100 + 60 => 140+D100 + 60 => 152+D100 + 60 => 157+D100 + 60 => 142+D100 + 60 => 64=1241
-[X]Dissuading an Invasion (Russia) So…You are going to invade your little home with that? Fuck em, let them come, let them die! (Cost 10 Control) Rolled:D100 + 60 => 160+D100 + 60 => 145+D100 + 60 => 112+D100 + 60 => 146+D100 + 60 => 108+D100 + 60 => 118+D100 + 60 => 137+D100 + 60 => 106+D100 + 60 => 122+D100 + 60 => 70=1077
-[X]Dissuading and Invasion (China): Hi China… Bye China! Hope the Door doesn't kick your ass on the way out! (Cost 10 Control) Rolled:D100 + 60 => 155+D100 + 60 => 159+D100 + 60 => 154+D100 + 60 => 71=539

You only looked to the Superpowers ambassadors that were standing before you. "Gentlemen, do you believe in a world without nukes?"

You then smiled. "Because I will say this, if you do not comply with my demands and reasonable offers, I will make sure there will be no nuclear weapons anywhere. Except exploded in your silos?"

(Continued in Interlude: Li Mei, Makes a Huge Statement)

----------------------------------------------------------
-[X]A True Hospital?: You need to build a building that can be a real hospital for the men? (Cost 9 Control) Rolled:D100 + 30 => 127+D100 + 30 => 126+D100 + 30 => 109+D100 + 30 => 123+D100 + 30 => 42=527

Wait, you're telling me that you found out how to build a hospital, in a bomb shelter, out of scrap, and tableware…

And then there was just another way of building.

You leave for two weeks and they build a fully functioning hospital, not even that, it was a state-of-the-art hospital.

How?

They were Board and wanted to give you a gift? What the Hell?

Reward: Health Services set to Meh!
-------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Census Time: You need a census of who actually lives here? (Cost 2 Control) Rolled:D100 + 30 => 127+D100 + 30 => 112+D100 + 30 => 128+D100 + 30 => 113+D100 + 30 => 90=570

How many people live in this shithole?

Well…

40,233 Permanent residents. All of them wish to be formal citizens of Outer Heaven.

Reward: You have what is functionally a small city living within your borders.
----------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Keep Developing Sustenance Agriculture: Well the Desert isn't the best place to farm, but it is a start? (Cost 5 Control) Rolled:D100 + 30 => 72

Well it didn't go as well as you suspected, mostly because there was a problem. Despite having water, and the desert slowly becoming a hospitable paradise, there was just a small problem.

You were running out of land. So you decided to think smarter, not harder.

Building upward to several, greenhouse-covered platforms with the water with pumps and pulleys.

In the end, the way of building up, was perfect.

Reward: Agriculture is improving slightly, but due to lacking infrastructure, it cannot be improved further.
---------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Digging Deeper: You need to find out if there is a way to get to that oil without poisoning one of the largest sources of fresh water on the planet. (Cost 5 Control)
--[X]To be clear we're aborting if this looks like it'll fuck up the water, right? That is absolutely the priority here Rolled:D100 + 30 => 130+D100 + 30 => 89=219
-[X]Create something New(Industry) Well maybe you can use that big brain and do something amazing. (Cost 3 Control)
--[X]Try to improve our digging/extraction abilities. We've got water to surface, that oil to extract, and even something below that? This is a toolset we are gonna use a lot. Rolled:D100 + 40 => 48

Well, it didn't go horribly wrong.

But it almost did.

The Men who were in charge of the drilling said that the problem that they were having, not only in protecting the drinking water, and the Nile, was the bedrock that was protecting the oil. It was solid limestone, and while it would take time to get through with the drills you had, they would require new diamond heads that could be produced elsewhere.

From Russia and America.

Well, it could be worse.

Reward: You just barely stopped catastrophe, but you need new… well everything to get to oil.

At least nothing fucked up happened.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Land Development and other signs of Civilization: Maybe you can make infrastructure, and roads that will make things. (Cost 1 Control)Rolled: D100 + 30 => 96+D100 + 30 => 46=142

To say that your infrastructure improved after your vacation was a vast understatement.

These people were building roads, lamp posts, lighting, irrigation, hell even an airport in less than a few weeks?

They were just mad, and because you didn't really have any laws about construction, besides sticking to sectors and not fucking everything up for everyone else, and trying to keep everyone from not dying in accidents by being very very thorough in inspections.

So no one died, and you have better infrastructure than your neighbors?

Hm… Well, when there is money to be made, well… dammit.

Reward: Infrastructure set to Good.

The civilian sector of the airport is now operational, now you can start chartering flights from other nations.
---------------------

-[X]Design a New Gun: You want a new gun designed by you. Perhaps one that can stand up to the test of time. (Cost 2 Control)
--[X]Do rocket launchers count as a gun? It's kinda like a really big gun, right? Rolled: Rolled: D100 + 40 => 122+D100 + 40 => 99+D100 + 40 => 96+D100 + 40 => 67=384
-[X]Create something New(Military): Well maybe you can use that big brain and do something amazing. (Cost 3 Control)
--[X]Something to shoot down enemy aircraft/missiles. We've got the Steves on a fancy computer, maybe it can give us firing solutions, but either way if the Second World decides to bomb us into the stone age I'd like to have some recourse. Rolled:D100 + 40 => 103+D100 + 40 => 95+ D100 + 40 => 124+D100 + 40 => 121+D100 + 40 => 49=492

You looked at Steve who was smiling like a little gremlin, trying to hide his excitement. "What did you do?" You asked.

"Well I was trying to find something that could be useful for our computer system out in the field, and I saw one of the Rockets that you had, well one of the launchers, and came up with an idea." Steve, you didn't know which one it was, then revealed a laser pointer attached to the rocket launcher. "See when we decided to make the computer, we felt a need to expand on its purposes in the field besides the basic usage. So the laser pointer guides the missile after it fires, and if attached to the launcher…"

"It can be a man-portable laser-guided missile, like on aircraft?" You smiled. "That's genius?!"

"Well not exactly, see during our testing, we found out that the rocket has a limited range of about half a mile. We tried to extend it using other possible rockets, but there is a problem… well the missile that could possibly extend the range doesn't exist."

And we have to get up close in personal. "So what do you call it?"

Steve smiled. "We would have called it the Apple Launcher, but Steve found it stupid, and it didn't fit. So we called it something more appropriate."

You picked it up and shouldered it. "We call it the Hornet."

Reward: Design made: The Hornet (MANPADS) Launcher has been designed.

Production can begin.
----------------------------------------------

-[X]Copy another Design: When they say that you were mad, well they do say that plagiarism is the (Cost 1 Control)
--[X] We have a bunch of rifles and ammo, presumably whatever type it is is common around here, and worth understanding. If our neighbors are gonna start shit with us even after our attempts at putting out those fires we are going to see a lot more of those guns. Rolled:D100 + 40 => 114+D100 + 40 => 137+D100 + 40 => 121+D100 + 40 => 78=450

"It looks like an FN-FAL?" You said as you looked at the rifle.

"Not exactly, we saw the lacking of the design and saw that it could use a bit of… modification for a modern battlefield, and while the barrel is the only thing that is the same, I guarantee you it is not a FAL."

"This puppy uses the new NATO standard 5.56 round, meaning the barrel can be shortened and the magazine expanded to over 30 rounds, with the magazine using the standard design of the M-16. The barrel itself is shorter to reduce recoil, and the stock is made of a more polymer frame, for ease of manufacturing in our current predicament. The receiver follows the design of the M-16 and the FAL, with select-fire."

"You just made an m-16 with a FAL Barrel." You said. Not impressed.

"Well actually, take a look at it."

You'll be damned. It was different…

"Good."
Reward: "Created" The MARS (Multi-Purpose Assult Rifle System) 1

-[X]Create something new (Agriculture): Well maybe you can use that big brain and do something amazing. (Cost 3 Control)
--[X] We've got our work cut out for us trying to reshape the desert, even with all that water. Something to improve the feasibility of that. Rolled:D100 + 40 => 42

Well, you discovered something in the past. The Ancient Egyptians that lived here used a section of irrigation and some type of seeding during the winter season.

The problem is, that the climate in that era was much wetter.

Reward: YOu have something to make it better, but not much, without changing the weather.

----------------
-[X]Science the Shit out of Something: Who said that science was something that would be the death of you. (Cost 3 Control)
--[X]If we're pumping up water, and eventually oil, could we build down as well as up? Rolled:D100 + 40 => 72

The answer was maybe.

"See if there is something about the ground we are on that makes it perfect for building bunkers. There is granite and limestone, we think this is one of the sources for the bunkers we can make underneath the city. Including the possibility of making a local subway system."

"But?" You asked.

"The problem is that there is oil at the level that we want to use. We would need to drill it and reinforce it until it was safe. And we can't get the oil right now."

Reward: You can possibly build down, you just need to… get some more oil out of the ground to do it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Building a Chip Factory: The Boys at Apple need some microprocessors. You can build them a place where they can make some. (Cost 5 Control) Rolled:D100 + 40 => 130+D100 + 40 => 130+D100 + 40 => 136+D100 + 40 => 128+D100 + 40 => 50=574

Well you gave the boys land, equipment and the extra money to hire people to build their micro proecessors.

You didn't expect them to get industrial in just a few weeks.

"So what did you two do?"

"Well there was some equipment that you brought that we repurposed, and there was also the bountiful mineral wealth that we were finally able to process due to a few… tricks we used with some rockets."

"Like?" You asked.

"Have you ever used the backblast of a rocket to separate heavy and light material?" Steve said. "Facinating stuff, a little inefficient, but it did give ideas?"

"How did you two get your hands on a rocket launcher?" You asked.

"Well besides making a MANPAD?" Jobs started.

"We were trying to find a way to do something cool and we were frustrated with the lack of progress, then we fired a dud on the range and the idea came to us." Wozniak stated.

Holdy fuck.

"Gentlemen, thank you."

Reward: Microprocessor/ Computer Industry now set to Good.

The Wealth of your nation increases twentyfold.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Apple Computers, Mercenary Edition: You are going to ask those boys to do something incredible, make a PC for military use, that can survive anything. Hope that works.(Cost 10 Control) Rolled: D100 + 40 => 84

Well, the first computer was absolute shit. Steve, both of them even said if they hadn't worked on your little request it would have been a far better product.

But it worked? So hey they could continue development.

Reward: Prototype for Apple computer made, more work is needed for it to work.

----------------------------------------------------------
-[X] Li Mei - (RP)
--[X]See if we have any good generals around. Organizing a mercenary team for a job is one thing, coordinating thousands for a single war is perhaps another. Rolled: D100 + 10 => 29

There are no generals among mercenaries, besides you of course.

They left the militaries to be without generals, not be them?

Fuck them.

Failure.

--[X]Hang out with Mike and Dave, they're clearly resourceful guys who are worth picking the brains of. Try to get a feel for how everyone's doing while we're at it. Rolled:D100 + 10 => 37

Mike is off doing a job, and Dave said that things aren't going well.

The UK was about to arrest him for treason.

Failure.

--[X]What's all this about ominous stuff below us? Someone has to know what's going on, and it's better to find out before we dig it up. Rolled:D100 + 10 => 86

"So… what did we find?" You asked.

"Um… Do you believe that there are missing nukes around the world?"

"No."

"Because that is a nuke…" Vasily stated. "Who's missing one?"

(Continued in: Blackmail.)

AN: enjoy.
