"Don't call me Puppy over the radio, this is serious."
"Piggot is going to overhear you and stuff you in M/S quarantine."

"Console, Good Dog sighted."
I like that Ammy's codename was given by Armsmaster while under compulsion to pet her.

And-- yes. Console, Oni Lee is petting the dog.
Decent summary of the fic so far.

"You know what you're doing, right?" The wolf gave a single, solemn nod.
"Take off every Zig. For Great Justice."

It was a junker, a cheap piece of shit with mismatched doors, but it was his and he could make it get from Point A to Point B.
Going from point A to point B to point B is how you get to the super-secret gang hideout.

'Miko wears street stuff. I know a guy who knows a guy'
Souta does not, in fact, know any guys.

"Yuuta," he grunted. "Give the phone to your baachan for a sec."
Bringing out the big guns, I see. "I know a guy who knows a baachan."

I can see armsmaster just plotting in his workshop like "I'll get her, and her little dog too!"
"I'll get her, and her little girl, too!"

Dear god, the paranoia is real. The Protectorate and the PRT are taking this so seriously its comical. Armsmaster's obsession with Sunny just makes the whole thing even more ridiculous in a funny way. Yes, I know that the characters don't know Sunny and Taylor are good guys and that Oni Lee showing up and doing something that's normally out of character for him just makes it worse, but the whole situation is ridiculous even if you just stick to looking at the events from their perspective.

Armsmaster sees an ABB controlled neighborhood painted over and with all the buildings restored to good as new condition. He immediately concludes its a dastardly Parahuman and tracks them down. Upon finding said Parahuman and her large dog peacefully painting and restoring a run down city block, he decides to approach her like she's a criminal, even though absolutely no one would have a good reason to press charges over her "crime". When she runs away in fear, he pursues her and is then Mastered into... Petting a dog.

Clearly this is a dangerous villain Master and her partner in crime who are going to start an evil campaign to take over the city by doing what amounts to Magical Community Service. The whole thing with the large-scale weather control is cause for alarm, yes, but their reaction to what amounts to Oni Lee having lunch with the caretaker of the shrine and petting a dog is "My god, the Master is far stronger than we thought!" for God's sake!

They literally acted in the worst way possible to introduce themselves to the new, clearly benevolent cape and arbitrarily decided that the worst case scenario was the right one. All because Armsmaster overreacted to being forced to pet a dog and Danny can't talk with his daughter. Hopefully there is still someone with some lick of sense in that organization to put a stop to this nonsense before they decide the dog is too powerful and call in the Triumvirate.

It's kinda funny to me how many people assume the PRT is angry at Taylor, and not just concerned about a new cape being either pressganged into the ABB or being controlled by an unknown Master cape.
Let's just say that the kind of concern that has cops following someone around with surveillance equipment is rarely good for the person. Words like "protective custody" and "reasonable suspicion" start coming to mind.

And, let's just be honest here: The biggest pressgangers in the world are the Protectorate.

Even if they believe she's being controlled by an unknown Master Cape, it doesn't change the fact that her only confirmed actions before they saw her talking with Oni Lee amount to painting a neighborhood, planting some trees, taking care of a shrine and hanging around a dog whose only real confirmed power is making people pet it.

This wouldn't even be a problem if Danny could simply talk with his daughter and Armsmaster didn't have an obvious unhealthy fixation on Sunny being a dangerous Master. Anyone looking at how the Protectorate, and Armsmaster in particular, has been acting up until now would call out their obvious paranoia. And their only real evidence of her being pressganged into the ABB is this latest meeting with Oni Lee, and depending on if they see the Tea Ceremony with Lung and how he acts during it, that little theory might be thrown out of the window. Without that their only reason to be paranoid like this is the possibility that Sunny is a dangerous, villainous Master, and the only real person to defend that theory is Armsmaster.

When the leader of the local government sponsored superhero team thinks you're a villainous cape, someone's gonna have a bad time and most likely you. Armsmaster is highly respected and trusted enough to be in charge of a problem hotspot, his word will go a long way.

"Yuuta," he grunted. "Give the phone to your baachan for a sec."
This is eventually going to end with Scion defeated with the consolidated power of baachans, isn't it.

To be fair, Bonesaw's approach of "I'm gonna carve off the top of your head and root around in there with a stick!" doesn't help her with that.
To be fair, Bonesaw's power is pretty much literally "I'm going to cut you open and root around with a stick, and when I put you back together you'll work just as well as before. Maybe better if I feel like it."

The problem with that is that the traditional colors of a wedding ceremony are red and white. Sort of an inappropriate message there.

Actually, the combination of Red and White is used today to decorate events with a joyous intent in general, which, of course, includes wedding ceremonies.
For example, when you have School Sports Festivals, unless the school is some monstrous mega school, you would see the school being split between Red Team and White Team for the event.
Heck, the NHK named the End-of-the-Year Music Show as Kou-Haku Uta-Gassen, or "Red and White Singing Contest" to note how joyous a Show it is supposed to be.

So it won't automatically twig as the coloring for a wedding ceremony, but a coloring that is a tad bit too bright for something that is supposed to be subdued like a Tea Ceremony.
Now, if the Shrine isn't decorated with banners with vertical Red and White stripes for the next festival, I can see a few Baa-chans coming up to Taylor to give some advice.... advice that she can't refuse.

I don't think anyone can be taken seriously when they act like Armsmaster has been acting these past couple scenes where he appears. Ideally, they'd have reported how he's been acting whenever "Good Dog" is brought up to Piggot, who would've told him to get some time off work because he's clearly stressed. Most likely, they'd just quietly nod their heads and ignore his ramblings, and that's what I personally hope they're doing when they're off-screen.

Don't get me wrong, I do find it hilarious that they're so concerned about this and getting just about everything about the situation wrong. I just can't help but laugh and facepalm at the way they're drawing conclusions and digging themselves deeper while watching from my near-omniscient perch behind the fourth wall.

Armsmaster was chasing her with weapon drawn before they discovered the Master angle.
This. Even if "The PRT" isn't angry with her, Armsy is on his usual schtick. This means things are going to be adversarial until he is embarrassed, scolded by Dragon, or Taylor does something overtly non-villainous in view of enough people that he can't dispute it.

Yeah, I can see her dad having that conversation.

"Taylor, I'm worried that you might be the first person press-ganged into the ABB who is neither Asian, bad, or a boy. They have that dog Master..."

"Sunny? She's been my friend since I was eight."

"...Taylor, I'm worried that you might be the first person to press-gang the ABB."

Nice line, but to take a joke seriously for a moment - if Taylor told Danny/the PRT something like that would they assume Sunny is an extreme case53 or that the master can alter memories to make Taylor think she'd known Sunny for years?

The man wields a bloody halberd! There is no state where the weapon isn't drawn short of dropping the thing on the ground.

Besides, Armsmaster is about efficiency. At that point in time, he has an unknown cape with a possible projection with unknown abilities. Too many unknowns in a world where looking harmless is not a reason to let your guard down.

And yet he managed to find a position when Chastized over the com link.

There's still a thing called "innocent before proven guilty." Besides, startling people is a good way to make them bolt.

I say this entirely without prejudice.

If I saw a famous cop/soldier/whatever bearing down on me with a weapon drawn, with intent? I'd be OUT of there. Not exactly proud of it, but that kind of shit would scare me to death. I'd probably call the cops afterwards from a payphone to figure out wtf was going on.

From a law enforcement point of view things like using gang money to mantain the streets are actually very worrysome. Hearts and Minds campaigns are designed to put the population on your side and against the goverment as well as creating a feeling of legitimacy that carries as asking for 'taxes' and preventing informants.

Recruitment for the ABB willl increase there, and in many ways we're already seeing the effects, Souta and Yuuta are not getting any additional heat from their family for working for the ABB since they are also helping Miko, also the fact that the Protectorate is on the dark regarding Taylor means that the usual police network of low level informants and police reports (usually composed of law abiding people inside or near gang territory) is getting disrupted because Taylor is seen as a positive influence in the community and are not willing to report about her at all.

That Taylor is not part of the ABB is irrelevant, because the ABB is already cashing on her moderating influence over Oni Lee as well as the sense of community she's creating.

I said this on SB, but the only time you are absolutely required to stop when law enforcement calls for you to stop is when they say you are under arrest. (I think, I'm not a lawyer or in law enforcement). Culturally we tend to obey the orders of law enforcement because we are taught they have our best interests in mind, (not that that is always true). It tends to get a bit sticky as, culturally, if you don't listen to law enforcement you are automatically assumed guilty of something. Armsmaster simply called for Taylor to stop, she was under no obligation to stop or even acknowledge him.

Well, there's yer problem. :V

I'm fairly certain his standard halberd is collapsible and can either be attached to his back, or if it's really efficient, holstered at the hip like a pistol. He does need both hands to drive the Armscycle™ or at least he needs to do so to set a good example even if the Armscycle™ can drive itself.

I don't...think that's true. My family has a bunch of police in it, and I've been told that ignoring a lawful order (Like detaining someone as a witness or anything like that) is illegal and can lead to you getting the taze.

God forbid somebody gets off their ass and starts performing the basic functions of government in Brockton Bay, since that would make the actual government look awful by comparison. Warlord Skitter could go very differently.

Imagine somebody at Cauldron typing up a report:

The Brockton Bay experiment into parahuman feudalism has resulted in Peacelord Miko seizing control of the city (apparently by accident) and turning it into a modern urban utopia (probably on purpose). Crime is down and civic pride is at an all time high. The neo-Nazis have developed a single-minded fixation on gardening and landscaping, and an unknown Master has forced Armsmaster to pull his halberd out of his ass long enough for him to pet a dog. He keeps filing complaints about it.

Recommend further experiments in parahuman feudalism be abandoned immediately. Brockton Bay hasn't produced a single trigger event since Miko took control, and we need capes more than we need peace, love, understanding, and brotherhood. Recommend low-intensity chemical bombing of Brockton Bay, and shipping them some new Nazis. The ones they've got are obviously defective.
