The semi-colon is the best punctuation. It's both a collon and a comma. It's like English's version of Ichigo Kurosaki.
It's certainly up there; denoting a connection between thoughts, rather than separating them into isolated sentences, is helpful in making your meaning clear.

Perhaps we should actually keep on-topic, though.

How long do you all reckon until Emma approaches Taylor to talk about things. I don't see Taylor making the first move, but Emma needs to get over her weird fear and self loathing concerning Taylor. Do you think Yuuta will push them to talk.

Also, do you think Dinah has made her own Miko outfit yet and will Onii-lee get his family dinner before next chapter.

I wonder where the alley is in relation to the shrine.

Having done a re-read of this fic, I'm not sure if I understood correctly, but Sunny's been growing bigger and bigger as time goes on, no?
Or is it just silly good doG messing around?

No, it's just people starting to believe. People who do see the truth. It's the same as in the game. Regular folks just see a white dog, people with strong will and those who believe see the giant wolf with red markings, and spirits see the truth, like the ghost priest in the game did, Amaterasu-Omikami, the August Deity Who Shines in the Heavens.

It's been pointed out before that her actual size seems pretty variable. Most people, like Armsmaster--even when they KNOW otherwise--always remember her just being a dog. Assault and Yuuta mentioned that she looks 'big enough to ride on,' and Taylor at the very very start of the story says Sunny's shoulders are about at her waist height. Kid Win and Aegis seem to think she's small enough to ride on Kid's hoverboard, which she is. Lung, by contrast, has insisted that Sunny is enormous. Which she is.

Essentially, it's a mix of perception-filtering, and Sunny being Gandalf. She's exactly as large as she needs to be at any given time.

My understanding of her size came in the Somer's Rock scene. Taylor sat down and Sunny basically sat around her like a wolf shaped throne.

I'd argue that fear and self loathing are probably one of the first few rational feelings she's had in a long time.

Out of story, we know that Taylor and Ami probably won't do anything too bad to her, given who they are. In story? They're probably the two most powerful capes in the city, even Lung is afraid to mess with them, and she's spent the last year doing her best to traumatize Taylor. If you were in her shoes, and didn't know who Ami was, how would you expect her to react? Lung took a divine smiting for being rude and you've been way more than rude.

At the same time, Emma's based her entire world view on the Writ of Might, where the Strong not only prey on the Weak but are also better people and generally understand the world better, and Taylor being the Weak. Now she suddenly finds out that Taylor is off the charts Strong, doesn't share that world view, and doesn't even care about her any more. That last one is extra damning, because despite everything, Taylor has always been central to Emma's world and, at best, Sophia joined her their. She assumed the same was true on Taylor's end, but it's not and what does that say about her.

She definitely needs to move on, to get to a healthy space, but her current feelings aren't really weird, given her current lot in life, and that impacts what she needs to do to address them.

People just don't always realize how big she is, I think. Kind of stranger effect, in that she's far less threatening than she probably should be.

Wolves are big.

I can't tell if that particular canine is the one making that peculiar howl/whine noise, or if that noise is coming from off-screen. I choose to believe that it is, and that therefore wolves purr.

I wonder if it would be possible to make like, "Combat" Ofuda or something. Like, paper talismans that fly at things and explode, or paper talismans that bind to and seal evil things.

Also, how does Danny's power work regarding aircraft? Like, if he used his powers on a Thunderhawk, would he be able to use it as an actual flying vehicle?

It really has been a while on this story. I just finished a reread yesterday, since I'd originally followed the SB thread and wanted to see how this one differed.

well, those exist in Okami.

And if the tanks can work properly I see no reason why aircraft wouldn't work.

I was watching a bunch of Touhou stuff lately, and I thought that making Taylor dress up like and cosplay Reimu would be perfectly in character for Ammy.

"Sunny, that's not an actual miko outfit."

"Sunny, no."

"Sunny! St-stop! Stoppit! Help!"

"You know, it's actually kinda comfortable if it weren't so embarrassing."

"Well, I'm already wearing the outfit, there's not much more that will hurt me already."

"Now, I know you're new to Brockton bay and all. That's fine. Since you haven't done anything too bad, this time I will be handling your punishment, but remember, you only have two strikes left."

And the bit about Danny was a bit of curiosity since I was watching Subterranean Stars, and I imagine that since Danny doesn't have to exactly hide anything, he can afford to have gunships orbiting around the shrine keeping a lookout while Taylor is there. Gunships decorated in festive cheer and dragging banner ads across the sky for local businesses, but gunships nonetheless.

That's one of those "bullet hell" games, isn't it?

It comes to mind that if Sunny decided to push Taylor toward Danmaku, Brockton Bay would have two "crowd control" capes. Chessman is suited to crowd control by virtue of having a "crowd" of his own.
Danmaku would be suited to crowd control by sheer virtue of [Bullets]

I mean, that depends what you mean by crowd control. 'I shoot everyone with nukes for miles around' is great if you need to just kill an army of always chaotic evil orcs. Not so much when you want to suppress a riot bloodlessly or the like.

There's crowd control, then there is Blizzard Effect Flurry of Frenzied Bullets! Which seems to be a theme for those games. Starts out slow until overwhelming force is achieved.

Fits the WORM theme well actually...

Well, considering the bullshit Ammy could probably do, it's not like Taylor couldn't make paper talismans that only "hurt only those with hearts set on evil" or something.

However, I don't think that theme fits Miko. Or Brushstroke. You know, it took me a while to realize the link between that name and the game. Even if it was ink in the game, paint can work since that is what Taylor trained in.

I was very happy to find this story on SV, and it was the last straw breaking my will to hold out from creating yet another login account that I had to keep track of details for (even if I do use a password vault, they add up). After reading this one, I just wasn't happy not getting updates automatically for stories I like on this board.

... At which point it becomes completely worthless in a large number of common situations. Also, needing to make extremely large numbers of talismans by hand would mean such powers would need to be used sparingly- an emergency measure, not an all the time function.

Because those are used up, by wear or otherwise.

I started to read this story on another site I frequent and when I noticed that it was posted here with even more content than there I couldn't resist creating a login and eagerly awaiting updates from UnwelcomeStorm.

It's worth noting that Reimu, the red and white Miko from the second video, is much more selective in her beat-downs, unlike the idiot nuclear crow.

It's also worth noting that almost everyone in that series is almost always sandbagging, really hard. To the point where they're supposed to leave holes in their patterns for their opponents and are judged more on the elegance of their patters ... theoretically anyways.

There. Finally.

I went through every single page of this thread, edited every chapter, and threadmarked all omakes.

...eventually I have to do the same for the SB thread. It's at 640 pages as of now.
