I wouldnt even burn a command seal on Excalibur unless walp starts pressing us. Pull back and begin sniping.

We should start being more cautious, it'll make the battle take longer but it's either that or we start losing magical girls and that cannot happen.

Projections last a couple hours depending on the amount of mana put in. Archer dies it should be fine.

In addition, your calculations failed to take into account something that, in hindsight, you had no way of knowing about because it was only mentioned offhandedly once before in a non-story post, and that is the discrepancy between magical girls as PMMM entities, and magical girls as Nasuverse entities.

Okay, see, this is something that should probably be threadmarked as informational or something because that changes stuff :p

I wouldnt even burn a command seal on Excalibur unless walp starts pressing us. Pull back and begin sniping.

Let me ask this question;

Why?

What do we gain by doing that and what do we lose by moving the distance?

Walpurgisnacht is not exactly close by. Moving would only weaken our DPS for a time and prolong the fight. Without Caster we aren't holding the damn thing in place any longer so it'll start advancing towards the shelters, towards Madoka which is a hard game over. The longer the fight goes on the more corruption is in the air and the worse we are and it'll get to a point where we can't have the Puella Magi use their more powerful abilities. Prolonging this fight goes against our best interest.

Worse yet, several of the more powerful things that Archer can do require him to be close. The combo that he used last turn wouldn't have worked if he was far away.

What do we gain from this? Cover? Doesn't matter. Distance? Just means that several of our Puella Magi can't attack it and can still be hit since it's already attacking from a distance of several kilometers away... a few more won't matter much to it.

I'm trying really hard to not start ranting but I can't see any logic in it.

We should start being more cautious, it'll make the battle take longer but it's either that or we start losing magical girls and that cannot happen.

I don't know how we could be more cautious; we can't dodge the attacks as there is no pattern, we have only one thing that can block it and it is being used. The longer the fight goes on the worse it gets for us because corruption will just seal off abilities else we will witch out instantly.

So if Archer gets killed, does the Avalon that Kirika's been protecting us with go as well?

50/50. Projections that are made will stick around for the most part and since this is the one perfect projection Archer can do, I suspect it'll stick around. However the power it has will weaken when not in his immediate vicinity.

Caution is all well and good, but you guys DO realize that if we start playing the long game right now, we WILL lose? It's not a maybe, its not a possibility it is we WILL lose. Unless you consider the Puella Magi deaths to be non-deal breakers for winning. Every turn Walpurgisnacht kills someone. It happens without fail. Given the accuracy, I'd bet that its part of it's abilities to just cause a death no matter and there are no dice involved, no chance. If we prolong, it'll kill Archer and then start going through the girls. Every turn we take longer the worse the corruption is around us and the less we can do. So yes, lets play the long game while we're currently being gassed and picked off one by one. Reducing our damage sounds fucking great.

*deep breath in. deep breath out*

Caution was great when we had more characters. We don't anymore. Also I literally can't see why any of you guys are saying to do caution right now. It sounds incredibly risky to try and prolong the fight vs ending it now.

[X] Illya

[X] TURN 23: WALPURGISNACHT - The Original Sin
-[X] Offense
--[X] Archer & Homura: Project Merodach, coordinate with Homura for maximum mana to be pumped into himself when he uses it. Use two command seals to rank up the attack then Light beam with it. After that is done, cleanse, and Finitora Freccia Maggiore (WITH DAMPENING).
--[X] Caster: ??? I'd bet a dollar that he just used his body as a catalyst to summon Archer!Gilgamesh
-[X] Defense
--[X] Mami: Building Destruction
--[X] Kyouko: Large spear blockade for buildings/medium size spear building interception.
--[X] Oriko: barriers + transferring two command seals to Homura.
-[X] Other
--[X] Miyuki: Keeping soul gems clean, such as when Homura is doing her attack. ESPECIALLY HOMURA
--[X] Kirika: Defense saves with Avalon using time alter

Merodach is a superior, non-divine Caliburn... what Caliburn was based on if you look in Gate of Babylon's vault. Which means its at least a A+ noble phantasm. Command seal should boost it considerably. It is also hinted at being the second most powerful weapon in Gate of Babylon outside of Ea and is not divine. If caliburn is powerful, it is a twice degraded version of Merodach, since between the two, Gram also existed. Ergo the best thing we can have Archer use right now without killing him.

Questions, concerns, comments or suggestions?

Is it just me or Wally's last health bar lasts much better than all of her previous ones ?
Yes, but also no. Between turns 1 - 9 we removed eight break bars, turn 10 was the World Destructor, then from turns 11 - 15 we were too busy dealing with Wally's servants to do any real damage to her. We removed the last bar on turn 16, but Wally then used Nega-Hope and we needed most of turn 17 to recover before we sent our servants out again. Then, from turn 18 - 22, we've been hammering away at Wally pretty consistently, despite losing a servant every other turn. So that's five turns of consistent HP damage we've dealt to Wally, versus the ten turns it took us (not counting the servant fight turns) to break all of Wally's bars.

In terms of total turn count, it might seem like it's taken longer because we've had to do more than just lob damage at Wally, but in terms of raw numbers it's still taken us fewer turns to break that ninth bar and get this far than it took to break Wally's first eight bars.

While I don't disagree with you, I don't actually think I can. If memory serves me, that was brought up in the previous thread, which I'm not the owner of. It was a problem that plagued me for the entirety of this quest's first part, and was the main reason I decided to move us to a thread owned by me for parts 2 and 3. I probably should have moved to a new thread the moment I took over and restarted the quest, but I didn't take into account the problems that would occur from not doing so until I was already in too deep, and at that point we were closer to ending Part 1 than we were to its beginning so I decided to stick it out for those last six or so days.

EDIT: Also, I need a better way to keep track of both the running votes. I'm pretty sure we're 3-4 on the Shirou/Illya vote, but once people get voting on the main vote that's going to be harder to keep track of. Anybody have any ideas?

Merodach was the closest I could find to Excalibur level power without outright being either divine or killing Archer. I also was hesitant to use it while Caster was still around because he is... rather attached to Merodach. Its the sword he uses to test if something is worthy of Ea's might. But since Caster is dead, there are no more problems on that front. It's natural level is somewhere between A+ and A++. Command seals should get it to A++ so it could at least approach Excalibur's level.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

If the vote had an option for Sakura, FYI, I would have voted that and attempted to convince literally everyone else to vote it.

If we can project Madokabow via the power of our love, given that dad is also very loved by Homura, I suspect that we could do a pretty good projection of his swords. Might be something to try in the future.

I hope that one of the beams has vaporized a Kyuubey because I bet he is watching this go down.

Well even if we did it or not, this is probably the most damage anyone has ever dealt againsts Wallsnatch in her history.

Dunno about that; Madoka in the second to last time loop one shot it easily. I mean, Homura has won against Walpurgisnacht in the past... Just Madoka never makes it so it's a moot thing.

Ah. Then yes.

Assuming we survive I'd love to tell Rin the fact it tanked two command seal boosted Ea(s) to the face and survived that. Or the fact it's tanked... I don't know... On the order of 150+(?) Noble phantasms strength attacks.

A shame we never got around to hitting it with Arondight.
