Confringentur 2; a Madoka Magica / Fate/Stay Night sequel

That makes you directly responsible for the damage those fake witches have done to Asunaro;
She's gotta be smoking crack. I cannot think of another way she can be undeniably the stupidest character in the entirety of the saints so far.

I get that it's probably different from the original story and that the leftover grief the Sword of Paracelsus gives off is coagulating into fake witches, but still.

[X] Plan: You've Got To Be Kidding Me
-[X] Alright, fuck that, we've got to get up to snuff.
--[X] While we wait for everyone to get here, think up a way to set up Ingwaz so that you can share mana with Hitomi over long distances.
---[X] Once everyone's here, immediately get to work building the base and setting up warning bells along Mitakihara.
---[X] Those that can't should immediately start practicing as much as possible. On the same line of thought, maybe we should call in Hitomi and have her practice too.
----[X] On that note, look into getting Hitomi some kickboxing lessons. If Bazett has showed us anything, those skills aren't useless in this world.
---[X] Also, we might want to look into the Sword of Paracelsus causing fake witches. It shouldn't be, but maybe Mirai wasn't making baseless claims. If not, then whatever, she's just stupid or gullible, or just both.

Unfortunately since SVS is trying to keep it dumbed down so that he can track things easily, we can't learn new runes. Doesn't mean we can't find other ways to improve.

You have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. Unfortunately, that is about to change within the next couple of days, despite my best attempts to keep the suspense building until a later point.
----[X] On that note, does our school have a boxing club, or something like that? Maybe she should take some lessons. If Bazett has showed us anything, those skills aren't useless in this world.
There probably is some sort of martial arts club at the school. However, this late into the year and applications are undoubtedly going to be closed, not to mention how awkward it would be for Hitomi - who is in her third year - to be signing up when she should have done that in her first year. I would suggest signing her up for private lessons at a local gym, but then we have to deal with her parents getting mad at her for doing un-ladylike things.

You don't have to make it sound quite so harsh. I'm just trying to make keeping track of things easier on my end since there's so much more going on this time around.

Sorry. On top of multiple school and life related things that are p***ing me off, I'm also trying to work on the base of a Quest without help, so not only am I tapped out and tired from checking my metaphorical list 1000 times so that I make sure I haven't screwed up, I'm about as worked up as I can be.

I have one word. h y p n o s i s
Maybe she won't like it, but even she has to admit that it's kind of life or death here.

You can always ask for the help of someone who has experience with quests. I don't know how much help I would be, but it was the help I offered Astra Myst way back when that got me in charge of this quest, so that's got to count for something. Even if it's just spitballing ideas off of. I don't know. Maybe there's someone else you can ask if you're not comfortable mixing business and pleasure by asking me.

Oh, I didn't say anything about Hitomi not liking it. It's her parents who wouldn't like her doing it.

Finally, I went and gave him the correct solar barque- Ra has two, one for traveling during the day-time hours and one for traveling the underworld during the night-time hours. The canon version of Ramesses had him using Ra's night-time barque, but here he has the day-time barque to better represent Ra's status as a sun deity.
I think this already is a pretty good clue! If his barque is day-time based, then logic dictates that it would be weaker during the night. Or not. Educated guesses and all that.

"It's really quite simple, isn't it?" Clearly not, or you wouldn't be having this conversation. "You, specifically, are the one responsible for finding a workaround to the Incubator's system. That makes you directly responsible for the damage those fake witches have done to Asunaro; and since we're in need of Soul Gems, it only makes sense to use yours! That way, we keep our city safe and we get more material for Niko to work with! Two birds with one stone!" So many parts of Wakaba Mirai's response stick out at you, that you barely have time to react when she declares "Rider! Use your Noble Phantasm and get us out of here!"

Well that's concerning.

EDIT: Here's the updated map.

According to our map, that I could find, we haven't been letting the fake Witches get anywhere near Asunaro. My immeditate assumption is that the Incubator is being its normal manipulative self, and is telling the saints half truths to get them to come after us. In an attempt to get us out of the way so it can get Madoka to contract.

This is completely unrelated to the current topic, but I wanted to put this out here so I didn't forget. Because I'm still beating myself up over forgetting the start of Golden Week on 29 April in the previous quest, this time around I will be addressing our holiday schedule. We can look forward to:
- Health and Sports Day, 8 Oct. We should expect a sports festival episode on the 8th.
- Halloween, 31 Oct. You should already know what to expect.
- All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, 1 and 2 Nov, respectively. This is principally for Oriko and Caren, but I'm sure we'll be invited if Oriko is hosting a celebratory feast on either of these days.
- Culture Day, 3 Nov. Expect a big culture festival in Mitakihara the first week in November. Plenty of fun things we could do to take Madoka out on a date during this period.

[X] Plan: You've Got To Be Kidding Me
-[X] Alright, fuck that, we've got to get up to snuff.
I had a question about us getting up to snuff. Are we having our meeting now, or are we waiting until after dinner when Kirika gets home from work to have our meeting? Bear in mind when making this call, we are expecting to have a delicious, Archer-cooked meal of salmon and mushrooms baked in foil for dinner.

Eh, I think we should probably wait until Kirika gets home.

[X] Plan Holy Ra What Was That?!
-[X] What the fuck was that?
--[X] A Rider being an overpowered Rider, apparently
-[X] Call a quick briefing for what just happened (when everyone's available and after dinner) before everyone starts base building, which they were going to start doing anyways
--[X] Inform everyone about what you saw of Rammes II through your Master Vision
---[X] Possible counters for Rammes II would be the Chains of Enkidu or Archer's Volcano Caligorante due to his Divinity; heck, they'd probably work very well against any Divine Beast that Rammes II could throw at them for the same reason
--[X] Double check with Archer and Caster that using the Sword of Paracelsus as they have isn't actually spawning these Warped Witches, if that's somehow even possible
--[X] Collaborate with Oriko (probably while Kirika is at work) in order to try and create some type of charm set fake "Magic Crest" that'll allow you to "hold hands" with Hitomi's magical energy and help supply her yourself through your mastery of Inguz; Oriko's expertise in Othala is mostly for it's Magic Crest-like capabilities combined with your Inguz Rune in order for Hitomi to draw upon your magical energy when needed
--[X] Have that talk with Hijiri Kanna along with Mami; just be polite and patient with her due to what you've learned from Nurse Ortensia - inform Mami of what you learned from her beforehand just in case
---[X] What's the deal with the missing person's report? Is that actually her family, or did the Saints mess with their memories? Does that family have to do anything with Kanna Niko?
---[X] What can she first remember, if she's willing to talk about it?
---[X] Is there anything she wants, aside from safety from the Saints? You don't want her feeling like a prisoner when she isn't (even if circumstances have pushed her to coming to them)

Basically just having Oriko and Homura pull what Rin did in the UBW route with Shirou to supply him with magical energy to face Gilgamesh, except instead of using one of their Circuits as a sacrifice they'll just use Primordial Runes from the Age of Gods. With Oriko's Othala as a base, it should be possible for Hitomi to treat Homura's Inguz Rune more like a Magic Crest, drawing magical energy from her when needed instead of Homura needing to manually activate it every time.

The Chains of Enkidu - barring any shenanigans - should work really easily against Rammes II with his physical stats when you consider they were able to bind someone of Heracles' stats and insane instincts pretty easily. This doesn't account for him deploying an NP or something before he's bound though.

Also yes, this takes some things from both Unknown's and PlaguePaladin's plans. Didn't include the Hitomi taking up kickboxing thing as it seems very much not her thing, whatsoever. If she were a Puella Magi with Puella Magi physicality and instincts, I'd say go for it, otherwise she'd have to spend many years getting proficient like Rin did due to being a squishy human, which would massively take her away from her Magecraft studies and the current situation.

EDIT: Added a Hijiri Kanna section

Do I hear a Tournament Arc? Cause if so, I expect us to bring home all the gold.

Also I've been reading the wiki on Sword of Paracelsus cause my memory's extremely rusty on how it's used for cleansing and uhh...
A fragment of this Elixir-composed blade in the form of a Philosopher's Stone is able to briefly neutralize a magical property, such as the Noble Phantasm sealing curse of Ramesseum Tentyris.
Maybe we should give Assassin a few more copies to counter whatever other curses are in Dio's Temple.

Aside from giving him Golden Rule EX, something he should have on account of being the richest man to ever live, the changes I made to his kit are in the degree of their power, and not their structurel.
What? Why did you give him an EX Golden Rule your telling me he is much richer than Gilgamesh who in Nasuverse lore collected all the treasures on the earth and whose treasury is constantly expanding after his death and that he didn't have the full knowledge of the treasures contain within it. Rameses might be the richest man in Egypt and collected all of its wealth but Gilgamesh went around the earth and collected all of its treasures the fact that he have items originating not just from Mesopotamia but also from other cultures and civilizations proves it. The highest rank of the Golden Rule that a Servant could achieve is A and Gilgamesh and Dantes are already on that level and it's description said that a Servant on that rank have access to almost unlimited wealth.

Other than that from what I remember Rameses took multiple Servants to defeat in Fate Prototype and even then he almost won but I think we can win if we stack Caster, Rider, Lancer and Assassin on him. These are our heavy hitters after all and if we can isolate him the better and without him Sigurd will be a more manageable threat.

If it is or is not her thing is not the problem; it is literally a case of life or death, and taking up kickboxing in combination with practicing reinforcement could save her life. Or if we want to give her something that might strengthen her magecraft, a martial art involving Breathing and Walking, such as Bajiquan or such, would be helpful as well. Plus, she does not really get to choose if she has to enter combat, and sweet mercy, we really shouldn't take that bet. And remember; we're using primordial runes here. Regular runes alone were enough to rank-up Gae Bolg with just a single one. So Hitomi, if learning a Primoridal Rune with a reinforcement effect, could at least withstand a Puella Magi's attacks. If not, then we should at least let Lancer give her a tattoo or something so that she has some form of physical defense.

The problem with this is that it would take way, way too long for her to become anywhere near as proficient in martials arts for it to become useful, especially for someone who wasn't as athletic or outgoing as - say - Sayaka. She would need years in order to become good enough for actual combat, years which she doesn't have right now not to mention the time it would detract from her Magecraft studies and helping out with the situation at hand. Also proper Reinforcement of one's body - even just parts of it - is far too dangerous for a squishy human to handle without years of extensive practice; she doesn't exactly have the robust body of a Puella Magi after all. For reference, it took Rin many years growing up to accomplish mere limb Reinforcement, and Shirou needed to steal knowledge from a literal far future version of himself to achieve it himself. Merely upgrading to the Primordial Rune version may make things worse, since I'm not sure her body would be able to endure the stresses of a Reinforcement Mystery from the Age of Gods, much less the base regular version.

Okay, you're partially right. In order to become proficient at kickboxing, it usually takes around 6 months to a year, depending on skill. So at least you have a case there. But...

and Shirou needed to steal knowledge from a literal far future version of himself to achieve it himself.
No he f***ing didn't. Remember how he reinforced that pipe and practiced literally every night? Or how the wiki states that he does this on the regular with random objects like bow branches or soccer balls? Plus, learning time and required skill is nulled by using a Rune. And operating by your logic, how did Shirou reinforce himself to a degree that he could fight Gilgamesh AND HERACLES without exploding from the stress? Or how Bazett can use runes to a level that allows her to fight Servants toe-to-toe despite otherwise being a regular yet athletic human without placing stress on her body?

Yeah, I'll admit that there is probably and upper limit, but c'mon man, just having hitomi learn something shouldn't be that hard.

As I mentioned to Plague earlier, this means we'll be meeting up after dinner when Kirika gets home. Is that okay with you, waiting a few hours before we all get together?

No, you do not hear a tournament arc. What you do hear, is Minako having to choose between going to Homura's sports festival, or Kirika's.

I've dialed Ramesses back just enough so that we don't need literally the Philosopher's Stone to defeat him.

Yes. Yes I am saying that Ramesses II is richer, in terms of the assignable monetary value of their possession, than Gilgamesh. Gil can have all the priceless treasures in the world, and that's fine. Key word there being priceless. You literally cannot assign a monetary value to Gil's treasury because of the uniqueness of each and every piece within. You can, however, assign a monetary value to the legacy and estate of Ramesses II, and he was the wealthiest man to have ever lived. I flat-out do not care what Nasu has to say on the matter, because it's an absolute crime that the wealthiest man to ever live did not come with a rank of Golden Rule in his canon form, and if I could only make one change to his sheet it would be to give him the highest rank of Golden Rule.
a martial art involving Breathing and Walking
I absolutely love how the Nasuverse has all this complex sounding magic stuff, and then there's just... Breathing and walking. Like, regular activities that everyone can already do. It just tickles me pink for some reason.
create some type of charm set or mystical "tattoo" that'll allow you to "hold hands" with Hitomi's magical energy
If not, then we should at least let Lancer give her a tattoo or something so that she has some form of physical defense.
We may want to reconsider this, or at least not sell it to Hitomi worded in such a way. Remember the association tattoos have in Japan. Now remember that Hitomi is a good girl who doesn't want to offend her very conservatively-minded parents. Now remember how spooked she got when she saw Oriko's back during the beach episode.

I believe Enetious is specifically referring to Shirou Reinforcing his body, and not just using Reinforcement in general. I assume he could Reinforce himself against Gil because he swiped the knowledge from Archer. Bazett can do it because she's probably been training her body since she was a wee lass.

There is a huge difference between Reinforcing an object and reinforcing your own flesh and blood body. And do recall how much Shirou managed to explode even just the objects that weren't his body. There's a reason most Magi don't bother learning how to Reinforce their bodies even if they know how to Reinforce regular objects, you can't make a mistake when it comes to one's biology, otherwise rest in pieces.

Shirou fought Gilgamesh in a canon route after he'd already gotten super efficient at Reinforcement through Archer's memories, and he was using Archer's arm the only time he actually could stand up to Heracles in any meaningful way.

Bazett was using regular, NON-Primordial Runes to Reinforce herself, which is just regular Magecraft, not to mention that that alone isn't what let's her match certain Servants, but rather it's her extreme skills that she's acquired from training to be an Enforcer; y'know, the crazy people who take down those with Sealing Designations despite not having them themselves.
Yeah, I'll admit that there is probably and upper limit, but c'mon man, just having hitomi learn something shouldn't be that hard.
I'm not saying she shouldn't learn anything at all, just nothing that would take her literal years to become proficient enough in overall. :p

Martial Arts isn't something that you can half-do in a couple weeks or so, and Reinforcement of the body is a no-go for regular squishy humans without a lot of careful training or very exceptional circumstances.

EDIT:

To be fair, when I say "tattoo" I mean in a Magic Circuit/Magic Crest sort of way where glowy stuff pops up when in use, not a literal tattoo. Othala is basically the Rune you'd want to use if one wanted to simulate a Crest after all, and using it would probably be necessary in order for it to glow up. :p

Hm, quite honestly, I say that's a win. We have managed to draw the Pleiades onto us - and we're still the most experienced fighter our group has. Also, we have some more information what's going on, and it allows me to throw out a hypothesis:
Say, Kyubey, bestest of all evil mascot, you wouldn't have, by accident, created some fake witches to get us hunted down?

After all, our solution to grief seeds still prevents the Incubators from slowing entropy, if I remember correctly?

Thanks, @SVS, that was helpful.

I am fine if you give him Golden Rule and all but giving him EX rank is kinda pushing it since we never know the description beyond A rank and A rank is already absurd like the one Dantes have he found a mythical treasure trove that practically makes him richer than an entire nation and Gilgamesh description is about the fact that wealth itself is attracted to him so he can just sit in his house all day and wealth will just land on his lap. The highest rank is already A and that is already pushing the mortal limits of how one could acquire wealth if its EX then that is approaching the territory of a divine spirit.

Then I'll ask you the same question I asked Plague. Since our meeting is going to wait until after dinner, perhaps the current vote should focus on what we want to get done before the meeting? You don't have to come up with an entirely new vote if you disagree, I'm just putting that out there.

After all, our solution to grief seeds still prevents the Incubators from slowing entropy, if I remember correctly?
I discussed this with Enetious way, way back when he first proposed the idea. Strictly speaking, we have no idea what the Incubators do with Grief Seeds once they collect them. We don't know what they do with the excess dark energy inside them, and we don't know what they do with the physical Seeds either. Thus, we have no way of knowing what the Incubator does to reduce entropy with the energy and matter given to it. For all we know, Incubators have Philosopher's Stones inside of them that they use to process and destroy the Grief the same way we do with Archer's Sword of Paracelsus. We just don't know. We don't know if our method is the same as their, if it accomplishes the same goal through a different method, or if our method is actively going against the Incubators' system.
