Confringentur 2; a Madoka Magica / Fate/Stay Night sequel

So, a thought tickled my mind. It was mentioned that the enemy Rider is the same Pharaoh from the story of Exodus in the bible, right? Well, after I started rereading the book of Exodus, I stumbled upon this:

Book of Exodus Chapter 4 Verse 21 said:
The Lord said to him, "On your return to Egypt, see that you preform before Pharaoh all of the wonders I have put in your power. I will make him obstinate, however, so he will not let the people go.

God himself admits to messing with the Pharaoh's mind so he would not let the Jews go before Egypt has suffered from all of the plagues.

So, we could maybe make the argument that the enemy Rider is weak to mental effects and such, right?

Question: If we say to head out immediately, would we also call Archer to come?
Not as the default, but there is no reason we can't vote to bring him along.
So, we could maybe make the argument that the enemy Rider is weak to mental effects and such, right?
I don't think YHWH literally reaching His hand down to meddle with the minds of men quite counts as "mental effects and such" that normal mages would be able to accomplish. However, Ramesses's portrayal in Fate appears, at least to me, to draw enough from his depiction in The Prince of Egypt - all mentions of Moses's brother Aaron are removed, and Ramesses surviving instead of dying when Moses closes the Red Sea - leads me to believe that Fate's version of Ramesses hardened his own heart, rather than YHWH hardening it for him. This is also in line with some other translations I've read where Pharaoh hardens his own heart, and I've been party to a number of semi-serious debates as to whether YHWH, Pharaoh, or the gods of Egypt, were the ones responsible for the hardening of the heart, because depending on the translation it isn't always clear who is doing the hardening thanks to several thousand years of language drift and translations from when Exodus was originally penned and today.

In short, you make a good point, but there's just as much evidence against it working. Prototype/Fragments doesn't give a decisive answer either way, but with how busted Ramesses is I'm doubtful it would work even if all the evidence were conclusively in favour of your argument.

[X] First of all, call Archer and tell him of the situation, second, start moving on yourself, and third, tell Tomoe-san about it, just in case...

Wait, is the telepathy between MG's facilitated by Kyuubey, or it just comes with the package?

Mmm, if we all go, there's a chance that they could go after our muggles while they're unprotected. So, I'm gonna do a different vote.

[X] Have Archer go while you tell Mami-san about the attack. You should stay just in case they send people to attack Madoka and company; you won't make it in time, anyway.

Wait, is the telepathy between MG's facilitated by Kyuubey, or it just comes with the package?
If I remember correctly, Kyubey is required to facilitate telepathy between a puella magi and a muggle. I would assume the same holds true for puella magi-puella magi communicaton, but I don't know 100% off the top of my head. Kyubey plays no role in master-servant communication, so if we ping Archer and only Archer, we're in the clear if we're afraid of Kyubey intercepting our calls.
Don't we already have Archer doing overwatch on Madoka?
We do, but Madoka is currently in school because she has one of her clubs today. It's Sayaka, Kyouko, and Hitomi who are walking home without Archer's supervision, but bear in mind they do have Rider and Saber.

Granted, Mirai has Ramesses and an army of teddy bears, so two servants may not be enough when there's two squishies (one of whom is also a muggle) that need protecting and Kyouko is the only one really able to fight Mirai on even footing at the moment.

Didn't we find a way to use runes to bypassing needing Kyubei to do telepathy? I remember that being a thing, for some reason.

Didn't we find a way to use runes to bypassing needing Kyubei to do telepathy? I remember that being a thing, for some reason.
No, we found a way to use runes to cleanse our Grief Seeds so they could be reused, bypassing the need to hand spent Seeds off to Kyubey. We still rely on Kyubey for puella magi-puella magi communication.

Day 4 Chapter 5
"So, Seaweed, what're yer thoughts on all this nonsense? Servants and all, I mean."

Walking home from school together was something which Sayaka, Hitomi, and Kyouko had grown accustomed to in the months they spent together in Chigasaki after Walpurgisnacht's passing, and today was no exception. Yesterday had been no exception either, but the trio today was making straight for home. Sayaka marched along at the front of the pack, while Kyouko and Hitomi hung behind. "Well, being a master is... A different experience, I suppose," Hitomi said. "Like I told Akemi-san last night, there are parts I find exiting, and parts I find... Not so exciting. But there's something... Exhilarating in the danger of it all, I guess you could say."

"I get what ya mean. Feels a lot like when me and the girls go up against a witch. How's Saber treating ya?"

"We don't really have much time to interact on a personal level. When I'm home, I'm too afraid that my parents will find him to bring him out, so the only times we really get to interact is when I'm out with all of you. Perhaps that will change once we've got that base set up we were talking about. What about yourself? How do you like... Rider, was it?"

"Yeah, Killer's been great," Kyouko said. "He's pretty strong, and he gets along well with most'a the other servants too, on account'a them all being the ones who took down Whataburger back then. Says he ain't a big fan of Assassin, not that I can blame him fer not liking that bitch."

"What does he not like about her?"

"Something about the way she feels, I guess. Reminds him'a the Assassin from back in his War."

"I see. She is an unpleasant woman, but I suppose she has her reasons for being upset." Hitomi almost bumped into Sayaka, who had stopped moving. A surprised "Eh?" escaped her throat as she collided with her friend; but the surprise was short-lived. In a flash, Kyouko had positioned herself in front of the pair, taking an aggressive stance but not changing into her battle attire as she stared down the figure in front of her.

"Well, well, well." Clad in a red tracksuit, Wakaba Mirai stood before the trio with a hand on her hips. "I go out of town for an afternoon jog, and what do I find?"

"Speaking'a unpleasant women..." Kyouko said. "Must'a been jogging pretty far outta yer way ta wind up in MItakihara. Or were ya just looking fer trouble and hoping ya'd find one of us along the way?"

"You're free to think what you like, but the fact is I didn't come here to fight. That said-" Mirai flashed Kyouko a wicked grin, and with a tap of her foot against the ground she called on a troop of stuffed bears which surrounded the three girls. "-If you're raring to go, then I'd be more than happy to wipe the floor with you and your little friends."
"Hey Spooky, ya free ta give us a hand? That pink bitch is back, and she brought friends."
"Hey now!" Sayaka put her foot down, stepping in front of Kyouko to confront the pink-haired girl. "I've got nothing to do with this." It took all of Kyouko's willpower not to challenge Sayaka right then and there. "If you've got beef with them that's one thing, but leave me out of it."
"Where are you?"
"Is that so?"
"I'm with Blueberry and Seaweed. We just crossed the bridge and are almost at the intersection."
"You think just 'cause we go to school together that makes us best friends or something? I was just walking kind of in the same direction as them, nothing more."
"I can be there shortly. Just hold out until then."
Mirai snorted, but with the snap of her fingers she relented, and her bears parted to give Sayaka a wide berth. "You're awfully calm, but I suppose anyone who lives in Mitakihara must be used to weird things happening. You're free to go, so get out of my sight before I change my mind."

Sayaka nodded, advancing for the opening Mirai's bears had made for her; before promptly reeling her fist back and punching the girl in the face as hard as she could. "Come on Hitomi, let's book it!" Sayaka called out, back-pedalling just enough to grab Hitomi by the wrist before dragging her along to safety.

"You bitch!" Mirai snarled, changing into her battle attire as soon as she had recovered from Sayaka's blow. "You'll pay for that! After the-!" Her command was interrupted by a crimson boot striking her in the face, and Mirai was sent tumbling as Kyouko, now donned in her own battle attire, stood over her, spear at the ready.

"Don't let yer eyes wander, bitch," Kyouko spat. "I'm yer opponent, so ya better pay attention, 'cause last time was just a fluke." This time, Kyouko was coming into the fight prepared; this time, she wasted no time in conjuring a Sowilo rune, lashing out at the bears with a torrent of fire. The bears, now ignited, pressed the attack for as long as their stitching could hold out, but one by one Kyouko cut them down. "Seems they ain't as immortal as ya made'em out ta be, are they?" she taunted, her spear cleaving through the last of her opponents.

Mirai gritted her teeth. "Then I'll just keep piling on more and more until there's too many for you to beat!" Mirai waved her hand, calling on more bears to take the place of their fallen comrades. These too, Kyouko dispatched with the same nonchalant ease, setting the bears alight with a Sowilo rune before tearing them to shreds with the swift movements of her spear. Mirai repeated the process for a third time, tauntingly calling out "No matter how many of my bears you kill, I'll just keep throwing more and more of them at you until it's too much!"

"Yeah? Then why don't I make things easy and just go fer the source!" With a flourish, Kyouko used her spear to vault clear over the advancing bears, angling the weapon straight down at Mirai. "Take this, bitch!"

Mirai did not, in fact, take that. Drawing her sword, she intercepted Kyouko's spear strike. Then, when Kyouko's spear segmented, turning around Mirai's sword to strike her from behind, Mirai ducked underneath the striking chain-link. "You really thought I'd learned nothing from our last encounter?" she chided, lunging forward as soon as Kyouko's spear had passed over her, striking Kyouko in the face with a fierce headbutt.

Kyouko was sent flying from Mirai's blow, but she quickly recovered. "I'll take a broken nose over a sword in the chest any day," she said.

"Is that so?" Mirai leveled her sword in Kyouko's direction, grinning. "You know, you're actually kind of fun when you're able to fight back. I think I'll enjoy making you my opponent." A shadow appeared behind Mirai, quickly revealing itself to be her tanned and haughty servant. "Well Rider, shall we see if she was smart enough to bring her servant with her?" Mirai and her servant both shot forward in unison, their strikes only just blocked by Kyouko and her own Rider, respectively. The two Rider-class servants tore off in their own battle, leaving Kyouko and Mirai to clash, sword to spear. For a brief moment, Mirai appeared to have the upper hand in the fight, and she taunted Kyouko. "Is that really all you've got? I could have sworn you were hitting me harder the last time!"

"Just you wait, bitch. I'm gunna tear that smirk off yer face and shove it right up yer ass!"

"Ooh, feisty! You know, I've already got my eyes on someone, but I might just be persuaded to consider your corpse a decent substitute!"

You and Archer couldn't have arrived at a better time. Sayaka and Hitomi are nowhere to be seen - "They're well out of range of the fighting," Archer told you - and collateral damage is fairly minimal. Kyouko and Wakaba Mirai are engaged in battle, while not far away Rider clashes with the enemy Rider. Just in time to prevent things from getting out of hand. "All right girls," Archer calls out as you and he come into view. "You've had your fun, now it's time to pack it up and head home like good little girls."

Kyouko and Wakaba MIrai clash with sword and spear one final time, leaping back to avoid the other's blow before looking in Archer's direction. Kyouko looks relieved to see her backup arriving, while Wakaba Mirai grits her teeth as she stares at you and Archer, your bows drawn and your aim fixed on her. "So you've brought some new friends," she says to Kyouko. "Big deal. This guy looks weak; I'm sure Rider can take him."

"Or I could stay back a few kilometers and snipe him well beyond what he can see," Archer says, his finger just itching to loose their payload. "Care to test your luck?"

For several moments time seems to stand still, and no one moves. Wakaba Mirai clutches the handle of her sword tightly, her eyes blazing as her gaze flits from Kyouko, to Archer, to you. For one brief moment, it appears that she might provoke Archer to strike, until twin shapes of gold appear, surrounding her; it's Saber and Assassin. Saber has drawn both of his swords; and Assassin, sensing the mood, you're sure, has conjured the specters of swords from a ring of Tiwaz runes above her head. You catch the fingers of Wakaba Mirai's hand slack in their grip, and at last she relents.

"All right, I get it," she says. "I wasn't planning on this turning into a fight to start with, so I'm fine withdrawing since I'm clearly outnumbered. Come on Rider, let's get out of here."

Do you

haha no

This is a girl caught entirely on her own. We are sniping the f*** out of Mirai. If she thinks she can just walk in enemy territory and screw around then retreat without any backlash, she's got another thing coming.

[X] Don't let Wakaba Mirai leave
-[X] Also, have Oriko make sure nobody is making an attempt on the non-Puella Magi, just to make sure that this isn't a diversion.
--[X] After that, backstep real quick. Have Archer use another Hrunting.
---[X] After the opening move, everyone go full tilt, and let everyone not currently in combat know this is happening via telepathy.
-[X] Take the opportunity to Master's Vision the enemy Rider.

Two questions:
[X] Don't let Wakaba Mirai leave
-[X] Backstep real quick. Archer; Hrunting.
-[X] Everyone go full tilt, and let everyone not currently in combat know this is happening via telepathy.
-[X] Also, have Oriko make sure nobody is making an attempt on the non-Puella Magi, just to make sure that this isn't a diversion.
First, what is the sequencing of events here? Because it looks like you're having Archer snipe with Hrunting before checking to make sure this isn't a diversion. Is that correct, or did you sequence this improperly?
Second, we've got the enemy Rider right in front of us. Are we not going to take the opportunity to master's vision him and see what's up? If yes, where in this sequence would that fall; and if no, are we confident that Ramesses will be too dead for us to need that information in the future?

I would suggest we let her leave. We still do not know what her rider abilities is. Master vision him would be a good do. Also if we esclated now the Saints may decide to escalate by targeting out normal masters. For all intents and purposes she probably like she said is not here for a fight but just on a jog that by sheer luck encounter Kyoko group this decide to take a jab.

Did I fix it?
Was tempted to call it Plan: The Lion, The Witch, And The Audacity Of This B****, but I decided to not break the meme rule.

We still do not know what her rider abilities is. Master vision him would be a good do. Also if we esclated now the Saints may decide to escalate by targeting out normal masters.
And you trust them to not do that anyways once they finally snap out of their Vs. Debate mentality and realize that we aren't easy pickings? Also, Master's Vision solves that problem real quick.

Mostly, except there is no "If the enemy Rider shows up" because Homura can see the enemy Rider from her current position.
Kyouko and Wakaba Mirai are engaged in battle, while not far away Rider clashes with the enemy Rider.
How would we know that if he weren't in our field of vision?
Really? She really tried to pull this in broad daylight?
Hey, she's not the one who has to deal with the damage control. That's Kyubey's responsibility. Or the Church. Which happens to be on our side. Sort of. At least as far as we can throw Caren. So it probably behooves Caren to take care of the damage control, if for no other reason than because it's her job to make sure shit doesn't hit the fan where muggles can smell it.

And you trust them to not do that anyways once they finally snap out of their Vs. Debate mentality and realize that we aren't easy pickings? Also, Master's Vision solves that problem real quick.

I do expect them to escalate eventually but not now. Also frightening them may convince them to take more guerilla warfare against Homura and crew. Right now they are underestimate Homura and crew and are making a lot of mistake and leaving a lot of opening that Homura cnd crew could use in the future with any major move. Let let them continue maintaining that belief.

What mistakes have they made so far, in your opinion? I know Plague has made comment about their unwillingness to commit the entirety of their forces to an attack, the reasons for which I actually outlined when he brought that up, being:
- The first night, they did actually attack with as much of their force as they had on hand. Umika and Kaoru were retrieving Kazumi so they weren't available to fight; and the same mostly applied to the second night as well. Umika and Kaoru only returned with Kazumi after the fighting was well underway, and Niko stayed behind to monitor data gathered on the regeneration module.
- So far, their win record isn't too shabby, either. We have no idea why they pulled back the first night but at best we could call it a draw (Oriko, Kirika, and Mami all came out of it worse for wear, but so did Usagi, and they were the withdrawing party, not us), they well and truly stomped us the second night, and now it's looking like a decisive win for our side. So it isn't as though they're treating us any better or worse than we've shown to be deserving of.
- I lack the ability to competently juggle the choreography of a 14v14 super smash bros magical girl melee, so there is a chance we may never see all of us versus all of them in a single night.

So what mistakes have the Saints made aside from Mirai attacking us in broad daylight, unsupported, when she wasn't looking for a fight? Because that's more on her being overconfident and less on the Saints as a whole.
Where's this fight even happening right now? I mean, I know it's in Mitakihara but where exactly?
If you take a look at the map, it's happening on the street with the bridge going over the western river, a little before the intersection with the wide street with all the arches. It's more or less the same place that we meet Sayaka and Hitomi when we're walking to school, if that's any help.

Madoka is such an adorable gem of a girlfriend.

Also:
"You're free to think what you like, but the fact is I didn't come here to fight. That said-"
OH FOR FUCKS SAKE! She couldn't have run into *any* other of our Magical Girls? Y'know, like, literally *ANY* of them? (Except, perhaps, Kirika fearing for Oriko?) Damn it, we could have *finally* been able to talk to one one of the Pleiades.

[X] Plan Diplomacy
-[X] "You weren't trying to turn this into a fight? If we let you withdraw, would you telling us what this entire war is about? If it's the corruption of Soul Gems that is the problem, we have a solution for that!"
-[X] If she accepts, try to talk, try to simmer down, and try to get an apology for the destruction of the church.
-[X] If not, take her down a la @PlaguePaladin
