Ha, missed this line on my initial read-through. What do you think the chances are of QA's preferred weapon loadout bearing a completely coincidental resemblance to that of a certain ideal Valkyrie, by the time her rating is assigned?
She's just copying the most effective weapons, after all. It's not her fault the best examples all come from the same person.
Better still, from a purely practical standpoint, no one can really argue that she would be wrong. The 300 aside, Valkyrie equipment upgrades based on need and time, and Anna spent the better part of a decade holding the line all by herself. There probably legitimately aren't any finer examples short of the aforementioned gear of the 300. Anna's surviving Heavy Particle Projector array is kind of awesome. They're more appropriate for something on a battleship, and yet whatever hefty bullshit they use makes them perfectly viable for regular Valkyries, and that's
before taking into account a power supply as capable as a fusion reactor. They're awesome, and the UN knows it; that's why they themselves want to get them, because anyone with half a brain gets stars in their eyes at the prospect of having guns like Anna's for themselves. If QA considers the weaponry available for inspiration and has any chance at all, she's going to do what
anyone in her position would do and whip up a set of HPP's to add to their frame.
Of course, that would come with some complications, because no one else actually
would be in QA's particular position. The UN is trying to reverse-engineer Anna's provided HPP example, and they're not really getting anywhere at all in that endeavour. QA, however, is in the awkward state of being far beyond the mere humans and not necessarily actually
aware that producing a Heavy Particle Projector is beyond their means right now despite an outlier indeed doing just that. Too, she has a poor understanding of the typical norms expected of the integration process, having to be outright told of it in the first place. Though anyone and everyone would love to have HPP's, actually integrating a piece of equipment with such complexity would be hilariously impractical for any frames that aren't already themselves high on the complexity level, so there won't be any brand new frames sporting HPP batteries as the new default even if the UN does start mass producing a Heavy Particle Projector model. Regardless, QA may end up with her own shiny new blasty goodness in short order anyway for just not "integrating" them the proper way or helping the process along somehow for finding the otherwise time requirements unacceptable.
That in turn may see people scratching their heads and perhaps getting very worried. If QA manufactures her own HPP model, she may have to make a somewhat inferior version on account of material substitutions much as per her version of the sensor array collaboratively designed by her and Anna earlier (which, incidentally, is thus probably still in a completely different league than nearly anyone else's). That could mitigate the issue of so rapidly integrating high-complexity equipment
somewhat, but it'd still raise a lot of questions anyway. Is Symbie perhaps somehow indeed complex enough now to actually make such integration time normal? Cadet Hebert does appear to have racked up an awful lot of time synchronised which could further influence the integration, but her integration of her datapad is on record and completely incongruous with that... though she is
also on record as having been drastically lesser in cognitive performance just a short while ago, so... Eh? Maybe they
should consider witchcraft and aliens. If they do consider aliens, though, an Antagonist correlation starts looking worryingly reasonable.
Symbie is the most organic frame known and highly anomalous in any case for appearing to perhaps be the first recorded instance of a damaged or incomplete Core. Both Symbie and perhaps Cadet Hebert herself, however, are in working order now and quite possibly repairing/healing further. There is also the note in her file,
"Direct absorption from deceased Antagonists initially considered likely." As it happens, the Antagonists have a marked trend of becoming more organic as they go up the scale, with a tank being obviously a tank whether human or Antagonist, but Types blatantly being more sophisticated in their mechanical aspects, and the actual mechanical aspects of higher-level ones eventually blurring the distinction between mechanical and organic outright for raising the question of just what exactly that
means when so advanced, in addition to indeed having organic composition likewise getting ever more impressive. So, is there perhaps some correlation there with Symbie? Maybe Cadet Hebert's frame has a high complexity factor in its favour for assimilating parts of Types that may perhaps be responsible for fixing/completing the Core, which is now going on to take advantage of that high level of organic technology and stored mass to indeed become something radically more sophisticated than it was just a bit ago. If, say, she integrated the likes of some Antagonist self-repair suite able to more directly improve upon the frame's present state and more or less graft on reworked high-level Type composition, that might actually explain some things... and there is the matter of Macross to perhaps consider, too.
