I'll be honest, I love this. I wish there was more substance to each chapter though. It leaves a feeling of cliffhanger more often then not.

Good luck writing!
I think that comes from this being a more snappy story than anything else, really. After all, with short, fun chapters, whenever you get a chance to develop character you will feel that "WANT MORE" sensation at the end of your read.

Not that this is a bad style or anything, just that you need more fun for it to not turn into a slog.

The sad thing is that even if QA was aware they were real, that wouldn't yet change her view of them as "not people". Though she may have phrased her answer differently in that case - not out of tact, of course, but to prevent unnecessary hostility from expressing such a viewpoint. I'm pretty sure she's aware that humans think of each other as people and do not appreciate those who think otherwise.
I wonder how long until they figure out that she recategorizes people as non people when they die as a coping mechanism.

Honestly, I prefer this over the original Avalanche update policy of Ever-increasing chapter lengths at frequencies of less than 1/year these days.

It was hard to determine the exact reason behind Leonhart's ambush: was it an entirely human motivation, or had :MOTHER: used local humans as pawns? It was hard to say, and :MOTHER: wasn't replying to QA's requests for clarification. Humans seemed to have a plausible motivation: not to allow what they perceived as dubious modifications to a potential atmosphere-killer. :MOTHER: also had a plausible motivation: not to let QA remove preset restrictions on the items being used as shard substitutes in the current universe.
It seems to be the case that QA is mostly traumatized by Eden's history of abuse and Leonhart just managed to trigger some of that trauma.

It still tickles me that Taylor is setting up the cult base to perfectly reflect the mechanics of the Cycle. It's the perfect cover for QA's trauma mostly because it is QA's trauma, dressed up in human corpses rather than shards and parahumans.
"No. The second page of the packet would've explained what kinds of equipment you could request for personal use with minimal justification, including a fusion reactor. I'm amazed you've apparently been working with a fission reactor this whole time."
I have to believe that they found this out when QA crapped a bunch of hot fission fuel out at Instructor Leonhart after the tentacles failed.

Really, they all expected Symbie to remain unique, but hope yet lived.

Especially since there was a growing faction that believed Hebert's old bunker to be an active pseudo-Arcology. The second squad to arrive had found significantly fewer corpses than the first team had reported and other oddities just kept piling up. It was fortunate that the now-named Hell's Hand did not seem actively hostile to those exploring it.
Oh fair, flower-addled child, don't let our memes be dreams! We beseech thee to become our guiding light! Become a beacon always in our sight! Take these materials and let it form the seed of your might! Use this sacrificial rite and begin your rise tonight! Become a Castle in the Sky and have all peoples unite! But to those opposed... destroy them outright!

Caffeine, after all, is an acceptably dangerous toxin.

...did the beetles come up with the Crafting Club? Or is she just assuming? I don't remember them...obviously, this means I must do a complete and detailed re-reading. Woe. Woe and agony. =D
The drink is phrased as fruit-based rather than plant-based; that's not tea, unless herbal tea with a large portion of dried fruit relative to leaves counts.

I think perhaps the Crafting Club came up with the beetles, not vice-versa.

I'm really looking forward to the combat class. I'm not expecting QA to shock and awe in the first lesson but to have progress that would shock even a shounen protagonist in each training section as she adjusts.

"If someone dies they are not a person anymore, they are inanimate object, so I dont have to feel bad about them dying... Instructor why are you clutching your chest?"

Though another thought occurs; If shes taking QA to see a simulated battle against a Antagonist, that means shes going to base her self on Type-0 Surpression Squadrons. Those are for the most part 300 frames. High Yield weaponry is not too uncommon there... Avalanche has mentioned that some of the surviving Diamond Bat defence sats got absorbed by valkyries. Thats fusion pumped nuclear lasers that strike with megatons destructive power from orbit.

That is what shes taking Taylor to see.

It's actually specifically stated to be tea at the tail of that little segment - tea that tastes acceptable. (Yeah, the "fruit based" bit has me confused, but..)

Yeah I made a mistake

It's the Tea of Theseus. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. (Not really. Edited.)

"You are attempting to gather information on Symbie's integration time."

It wasn't treated as an accusation, so Shapira didn't treat it as such. If anything, Hebert sounded ever-so-slightly happy that the UN was trying to determine her exact limitations.

Oh look! Cult-survivor-chan is happy about being mined for info because it proves she is valuable to her new community! After all, shouldn't everyone aspire to be deadly killing machines? Being treated like you might be one is a compliment!

Of course, only Leonhart had actually gotten involved. Sanchez had been more focused on guarding Hebert's Friends and keeping them from treating it like a full-fledged combat situation. The coil-guns comprising their horns apparently packed an impressive punch for their size.

So it looks like only Leonhart combated QA directly, while Anna just made sure the pegacorns did not friendly fire any squishy Valks. At least it's proven her own pegacorn is loyal to her and not QA. Also, she's seen pegacorns in combat now, so she should be less worried about accidentally getting her pet killed.

If QA knew about Anna's positive reaction to her Friend as a result of this, she might consider the trauma worth it. Especially since it's come with conciliatory goodies like 5 fusion generators, info about advanced human weaponry and access to a sim.

Archival note: Conciliatory bribes after unintended ambushes are far more lucrative than anticipated. Consider provoking future rivals and/or enemies into similar behavior to siphon resources.

-273.15 C is approximately Absolute Zero. But not sure what the relevance is.

Sounds like it could be a stealth pun. "Absolute Zero", i.e. a play on the "Antagonists do not intentionally infilitrate" meme.

Nobody in the know in-universe is cruel enough to make this joke, so I suppose I need to default to the thread:

Pure-Chan: *making friends and having fun*

Instructor Leonhart: "Oh, we don't do that here."
