Shardspeak Character Colors
End of season wrap-up, as the dust settles:

"Koujirou, while I will acknowledge your skills and 'game', I do believe there was a mistranslation somewhere vis a vis what you are SUPPOSED to do with Antagonists"

"<LEWD>"
Aside: Decimator is , and Symbie is . QA is . Taylor is .

Example: "(QA text goes here)"

For those wondering, [plain][/plain] is how the above was posted without translating it into coloration.

EDIT: Silver is

I've seen that happen. Granted is was a crashed battleship rather than an active extradimensional intelligence, but between a shoddy coat of pain and a stubborn insistence that it was actually a dorm wing it convinced the people it needed to.
This sounds like an interesting piece of fiction. Source?

Also, welcome to SV! ^.^ It always makes me a little happy when I see that I'm a reader's first.

...Post. First post. :V

huh, i didn't know SV supported names instead of codes

Holy crap.

Looool-

I wonder how Taylor is going to arrive to the Academy. I mean, Symbie could make a new body for her, yes... or she could just dump her back in her own body together with Queen Administrator.

So the question is whether the upcoming therapy session will involve two twin sisters, one of which exhibits advanced Valkyrie Syndrome and the other is on heavy drugs, or one sister who exhibits both ( as a result of survivor-guilt-induced multiple personality disorder jolted awake by the Instructor unintentionally startling her )

Oh boy, I do not envy her therapist at all
Like
There's bullshit backstory trauma
And then
There's completely legit backstory trauma of an aeons-old extradimensional entity whose parents and siblings abused her during their impossibly long lives, with "father" ultimately crippling her mental capacities to prevent her from being dangerous

QAylor nails the "cult survivor from cosmic horror story love interest" aesthetic
It's like she's a scaled down version of Saya no Uta or some shit

The irony is that thanks to not being human at the time, QA isn't actually traumatized by her past at all.

But absolutely no-one will believe that.

Queen Administrator did not enjoy the emotional aftereffects of Leonhart's ambush. Even ten minutes after the fact, with soft Pegacorn-Friends pressed against her, and in a cozy, empty lounge, Host's body still felt as though it was being violently compressed. The sensation only partially abated once she fully expressed Symbie and released fifty beetle-Friends to form a protective sphere surrounding Host. Distracting herself with analysis also failed to cure her.
More than somewhat traumatized.

More than somewhat traumatized.
She doesn't seem to care for it as much as a human would, I think that what bothered her most is letting go of her hosts, I don't think she had any trouble with the crippling for example, she is even Scion's main crippler, having boasted a few chapters ago having been capable of tracking even the most reluctant siblings who don't want to be crippled.

Another thing that bothered her is the treatment of her siblings to her, but not so much that she actually want them harmed.

What would mental trauma even look like for a mostly-sessile transdimensional organic crystalline colony organism?

Like, that is such an alien viewpoint that even if QA was traumatized I doubt we'd be able to tell. She's arguably traumatized by human standards, but she's only pretending to be a human right now, so just because she looks traumatized doesn't actually mean she is.

She is somewhat upset about how her siblings tease her, but then she has no problem doing the same ot them.
Is this trauma or just them being, you know, sublings?
Much of her trauma seems clearly inherited from Taylor, and has little to no understanding of how to deal with it, not because it is that bad, but because she has no idea how to human.

There is also the shards abillity to change themselves, like Taylor mentioned in is it okay to make Friends, even if she is traumatized she might just adjust the memory to remove hurtful emotional connections, becoming apathetic to the memory, although if shards can do it than Taylor would have already done it, so I am not sure.

That all charts perfectly to how humans often handle a traumatic upbringing. Treat it as normal, pass it on to others. Hating the people responsible is unnecessary.

Maybe Taylor thinks that that way lies the slippery slope into uncaring, which clashes with her seeming desire to stop the atrocity that is the Cycle.

Also, can I just say that I loved Monument of Sins.

Like, a stylized backstory in fucking murals
About two sisters and a few of their vassals who fell from grace and maybe instigated a rebellion?
This practically screams that "Taylor" engineered a revolution at the age of fifteen against her parents and siblings who might be either cultists worshipping Antagonists or human-like Antagonists themselves
During which her sister was killed and she was braindamaged

This is, like, you thought it was harem mecha anime hijinks for you boyo?
Nope, Darling in the Franxx
And there are just enough points of reference that QA's backstory isn't completely obfuscated and it mirrors what happened in canon

Lol, there was even an obligatory scene where a seemingly innocuous rookie reacts to an outside challenge/shock with sudden violence
You know, the only thing left is to have a shounen-esque fight with an Academy Instructor during which she improves by several levels of competence mid-fight, then suddenly loses coherence and starts growing tentacles out of every orifice to startingly resemble a Type Zero faster than her opponent can cut them down

:V

I get more of a final boss feeling myself, instructor kicks the crap out of her then she says 'enough!' and instantly wins by hacking her and forcing her core to stop manifesting. Then she just walks off, So closer to a reoccurring boss fight.

Eh, it's pretty normal these days for harem and mecha animes to either suddenly go grimderp without warning, or appear positive on the surface while subtly being actually really horrifying when you think about it.

Within the genre, this Lovecraftian horror-themed side-story is not at all unusual.
The chaos that crawls to you with a smile?

She's having an utterly boring and chill training session in a pocket dimension where a bored low wage instructor is bumping her competence levels by several levels, while randomly cruising and wrecking through a fake cityscape.
And tentacles are already involved as the most basic of tools.

Also also
Symbie herself had responded positively — often with creepy-cute sketches of modified Terran organisms — to at least the first two connections from each unique individual, and she continued to allow contact if a recent attempt had been used to transfer information on Valkyrie-grade equipment.

Waaaait. Are those... child's drawings? Does she exchange drawings of animals for tech?

If there's so much gamut about her in the human community, I wonder how loudly Cores coo about the new babby in their own community.
