"I don't know how to feel about this." "You're a good little kitty, aren't you? Yes you are! Yes oo are!" "I think we need to put sheaths on his blades, he's leaving grooves in the floor from happy claws." "Eh, smoothing them out or avoiding injury are both good Impeller practice." "Is anyone else getting really weird results from his brain?" "You mean the sort-of spacial anomaly?" "Oh, thank God it's not just me." "How is kitty made?" "With the power of friendship." "My little kitty, my little kitty, ah-ah-ah-ahhhhh..." "Do you want Symbie to give him wings and a horn?" "...Yes?"
Snerk. I hope this will be canon at some point. I love the overenthusiastic Crafting Club. Especially when they start making MLP references.

...Has anyone else ever wondered if Equestria is actually an experiment run by rogue Entities who wanted to make their own data? I mean, who has a better explanation for why it's a fluffy hellworld and how the heck half of their feats are possible. Among others, apparently pegasi have reactionless flight, anyone can survive being punched through a brick wall, and practically everyone can flash-step. And don't forget that the Princesses put them at Kardashev 2!

Oh, this reminds me. There's an ideas thread for Sanctioned, Calibration, and INWTMFITD.

Having set out to read BAHHSCQ (and not allowing myself to be deterred by the last bits of update 17 this time) I happened across mention of the Mayor/Valkyrie Core partner of the Perth arco surprised the residents during the year Anna arrives with a rather unique Christmas present - revived dinosaurs from reconstructed DNA. Clearly, with QAylor present this is either a collaborative effort or a CHALLENGE to her Friend making skills!

I am also quite curious how she might become involved in the update 18 aid mission, but with IC months to go before that comes up there's sure to be too much happening in between to speculate in any meaningful manner.

edit:
What's the context for this?
The classic scene from Dr. Strangelove, or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, I believe.

Sadly, the dinosaurs were in Darwin Arcology, not Perth. QA will just have to make cooler dinosaurs, with fluffy wings and laser eyes.

Uh. I just had a thought.

The cult base QA claims to have come from with Taylor's assistance...

Taylor built it, yeah? Sure, using dream logic, but it's fundamentally Taylor who created the thing whole cloth.

What are the odds she slipped in some Host species unauthorized technology things along with all the horror, the reward for those that brave the cave of terror she built in a dream?

Because Taylor's priorities are the exact opposite of QA, and having a chance to give things away without QA being any the wiser, or it backfiring spectacularly, is something I can't imagine a dreaming Taylor passing up.

I mean, what's a dungeon crawl without treasure chests (that may try to eat you).

Some of those restrictions are for good reasons, like Queen talking about the dangers of unrestricted shard encryption, we already know that it is memetic hazard, the last thing we need is memetic reality warping A.I

That doesn't mean she wouldn't leave some very interesting nuggets of technology they don't have access to, but don't expect anything too overt.

I'm not sure Taylor cares that much for humanity now. Or does so only in a rather abstract sense. She's just having fun, enjoying her dream. Adding high tech to her spooky haunted house seems like it wouldn't be in theme. Also, what QA doesn't know, that Taylor does, is that this is already an unrestricted world. Humans seem to be developing tech perfectly fine on their own without an Entity to restrict them. They probably don't need a further leg up, especially since Taylor would have to first study the current tech level to decide on an appropriate goodie, and anything too advanced would probably draw more questions about QA's past, which I think they're trying to avoid. "This poor girl was tortured by insane cultists" is a neat enough narrative. "This poor girl was tortured by insane cultists with cutting edge technology" starts begging questions of "So where did they get this tech and how did they develop it while out in the boonies?"

Overall, sounds like more trouble than it's worth. Like, nameless girl might do it if humanity was at risk of losing, but they're doing pretty well so far, so might as well just cheer and enjoy the robot anime.

Also is it just me but does reading the one line replies here kinda remind any one of the Crafting Club talking?

If you bunch them up, it is eerily similar.

But... To survive and hide for so long not to mention create or get those unknow alloys and likely antagonis bodies they do need cutting edge technology

If she made the technology mostly organic than they might suspect Symbie, which than arranged for the close antagonist to discover the bunker while Taylor wasn't there.

Yeah, but is it replicable technology? Technology the humans can actually copy and improve themselves with? I had the impression that any "high-tech gizmos" Taylor has sprinkled around is likely to be closer to "unknowable eldritch insanity".

It would even explain why the Antagonists didn't find the place for so long: they don't target (what little of it still exists) native wildlife.

Eh... Just hook it into a Valkyrie. It'll be fiiine.

I really hope she will go for Lovecraft style cultists.

She already did, and it was shown in-chapter. The walls are lined with an unknown alloy that rejects detailed scans, and with Valkyries around the probability that someone can't reverse engineer it is approximately nil.

So who wants to bet that stuff is going to be fed to any stealth frames they've got? Using it to line secret research sites? And that assumes it doesn't have other, equally interesting properties.

... But yes, excited to see what kinds of loot salvage Taylor stuffed in there.

The exploration chapter needs to be loaded with DnD memes. :ogles:

We were skulking through this dungeon
A mighty sorry lot
Old Galliard the Fighter
Had been acting like a sot
Our cleric had colitis
Our torches all were wet
But we had to find some treasure soon
To get us out of de~bt...

So Galliard and Sonja
Were itchin' for a fight
They both took the left fork
While we went to the right
And that is when we heard it
The sound of rollin' dice
We wondered why we had ignored
These words of sage advi~ce...

<chorus>
♫ Don't you know? ♫
♫ You never split the party! ♫
<song continues>

Probably not what was originally intended, but it's relevant all the same. AG bodies don't die by themselves you know.

I'm starting to think that mentioning it ahead of time was a mistake. >_<;
It was.

No, I get that, what's the context that relates it to anything on this thread?
Given that the post was right after several posts talking about songs and song lyrics, I would assume it was actually a reference to the song:

Man, imagine how utterly surreal going through a Cthulu Mythos-esque dungeon would be with the Darkest Dungeon Ancestor voiceovers in reality. I can't decide whether it would make the experience less or more horrifying, but it would certainly be something.

Especially since IIRC Darkest Dungeon implies that the Ancestor's voice is something that 'your' (the inheritor's) mind hears directly, bypassing the ears entirely, and none of the rest of the party hear anything as the inheritor slowly goes insane.
