Valk battleships still need someone synched with the core to work.
Mm? Oh, yes, apparently so:
"Space Force fleets were built around the powerful Valkyrie Battleships, the most powerful standardised form of Valkyrie Frames bar none, only losing out to Three Hundred frames from a power density perspective, and 'standard' Space Battleships for direct firepower." I was under the impression that they were battleships using upgraded technology. Still, the point none the less stands that although there is indeed plenty of use for the technology that Valkyrie Cores can provide, they're a potent multiplier far more useful employing that technology themselves, given the proportionate needs in terms of time, training, and resources needed to deliver that level of performance... provided that the otherwise eminently convenient single individual required is in fact actually there in the first place. Twenty thousand battleships instead of twenty thousand Valkyries would pack a lot more punch, but good luck getting that; a Valkyrie may not be the "best" military asset on paper on a one-for-one basis, but it's a lot more optimal for the context. It'd just be a lot more convenient for humanity if that nearly ideal asset in the Valkyrie could be acquired all the
more easily, given the overwhelming need for military assets period.
Now if only there was
someone who could tinker with Cores to do something about that... Come to think of it, I'm also curious now just what exactly QA could whip out if given leave and encouragement to make Friend battleships. Her small-scale Friends are impressive, and her idea of scale is not exactly the same as a typical human's when it comes to the notion of having difficulty manufacturing large things. Chibi alicorn sized for perching on a shoulder or freaking kaiju, it's about the same, really.
On a semi-related note, tying back to my previous thoughts on QA perhaps helping out with the naval situation via appropriate Friends (because Friend-bombing can solve a multitude of problems), I'm kinda hoping that she gets pointed in the direction of salvaging the wreck of
Yamato to make Space Battleship Yamato somewhat less than entirely fictional. I could see Koujirou just pointing out what he thinks would be a cool idea and Things Happening from there.
Was rereading some of BAHHSCQ and found this gem in the electives list:
Feels like yet another club that would keep an eye on QA. And maybe someone for QA to bounce her Friend design ideas off of.
Yeah, the clubs are probably going to be a significant part of this story; they are not mandatory, but highly recommended, and QA agrees with the notion of pursuing improvement wherever possible. Anna's exploration of the clubs is not a
primary plot element of BAHHSCQ canon, but, appropriately enough for the
kind of story that it is as indicated in the title, it does form a major aspect of the narrative regardless. I would be rather surprised if QA didn't do similarly, and that could open a great deal of possibilities. There are
loads of clubs and elective classes, and much as per Anna's own (sometimes mis)adventures in canon, the associated experiences can be quite meaningful. QA is a distinctly different character from Anna, though, and further is present as an
addition to canon as well. What, then, might become of QA expanding beyond just the Crafting Club?
There are several options that might be great matches for QA, or perhaps alternatively options that are delightfully terrible. QA getting set loose in the Language class that focuses on translation and cryptology sounds like a good way for her to excel far, far too much, and much the same might apply for the Electronics class... which might seek
her out, for that matter, though she might not really care if the Statistics and Maths class did likewise for just finding it boring, and the worryingly titled "Inventions" might range anywhere from loving her or running away screaming, assuming that she isn't barred outright or specifically
required to take it. I could see her having a very different reaction to the Ballistics Study group than Anna; Anna was kind of just vaguely confused, but QA being QA, she might regard them with simultaneous pity and approval at their feeble yet enthusiastic efforts to bombard things, treat it with scorn, or be absolutely thrilled. "Thrilled" might be a somewhat tame term for her stance on the Demolitions class, however; it slots quite neatly into the sensibilities of Anna and QA both, but where Anna approaches that sort of thing with a sort of detached professionalism hiding obsession born of desperation, QA has a sense of pride and smugness that could perhaps see her take to Demolitions with a
passion.
There are also plenty of electives that QA might regard neutrally or just find confusing much as per Anna herself, but I'd be curious to see Athletics depicted, not so much for QA's take on Athletics itself, but for the possible interpersonal interactions. Shuri looks very impressive in the scoring when Anna visits in canon. QA is decidedly defensive over the notion of Anna not being given due regard. That might see QA push for Anna to race as well, or she might end up wanting Anna to try running regardless, and that could bring up an
interesting point: Anna can't run. Literally. She doesn't know how. Anna has spent half of her life synchronised to Durga, which has some rather profound consequences for her development; Anna hasn't
needed to run since she was a little girl, and her body now—especially given puberty—is not remotely the same one using remotely similar systems to operate compared to her earlier self. So, what might QA make of that? And what result of her being of the opinion that Anna should correct that as a shortcoming?
Don't rely on your eyes, it is a primitive instinct.
I'm now hoping that someone makes some sort of correlation joke with Star Wars, honestly. QA is entirely serious, but she's none the less basically parroting Obi-Wan shard-style.
