The hilarious thing about her ID "program": It's blatant cheating. There is nothing they will be able to figure out by looking at it and there never can be because the entirety of its actual functionality is actually a space-whale crystal mountain in another dimension and the program they're looking at is just a target designator for said space-whale crystal mountain. They're going to figure out sooner or later that it's mathematically impossible - that is, there's no such thing as a perfect compression scheme so at some point they'll make it shrink far enough that it shouldn't be able to rebuild itself exactly the way it was - but it's still going to be hilarious seeing them realize that she's been cheating the whole time.

The parable of the blind men and the elephant comes to mind...

But that being said, there is such a thing as lossless compression. It's just got theoretical limits on density.

Also, any given algorithm will cause some inputs to increase in size, but that is neither here nor there.

Also IIRC QA's "Friends" terrify even other Shards.

And there is no Danny to "guide" her Designs. Meaning that, if she makes them, the Academy is going to face QA's unrestricted friends.

Well, unless the CC comes in. But somehow, I highly doubt that it is going to make things better.

Poor poor Protagnist. Looks like he is going to have to get used to being scared.

This is a wonderful meta-crossover, and thank you for writing it! (Also thank you for introducing me to BAHHSCQ, which is a remarkable original quest)

Really can't wait to see what valk!QA does in the combat classes, though. Will she be able to dodge, or will she share the limitations of DanMachi!QA?

My bet, moment the 'first' batch of Friends roll out, is the moment IA! IA! ANTAGONISTS! Cry out a river. Then it may lead to UN panic grade clusterfucked over possibly tamed/custom made Antagonists, to a 'pet' degree. Them looking at the 'ARR' of Taylor's recruitment in a new light...

And bar arbitrary "Childhood so shitty, she could even view an Antagonist as a Friend" could very well lead to some court martial injunction, slash torture/interrogation bay (reprise). That ends up more confirming the doubt that QAylor's so fucked up, her mindset ain't human. Possibly more "Valkyrie" than that, would be the only potential saving grace...

Or, power of friendship causing the Crafting Club and Pet Club barging in, louder than a possibly suffering Coke Zero. Who may end up gagging over how dark QAylor's history is, to explain why she's a fucked up conflict magnet.

Doubt it would go there. The first design looked like sheep after all. Admittedly one that most likely can sprout tentacles and such but normal terrestrial animals nonetheless.

But I can see the rest happening.

They would probably conclude that her core was Optimized to Bio-Constructs or something along those lines.

Queen is an hyper advanced space whale, for all you know this program is reality warping lifeform that use breaker forms undetectable to the humans here to contain itself.

Or it could access other dimensions by itself to do some of the stuffs it does.

Using our science to try to explain it won't work.
First: I wasn't talking science there. I was talking math. There's a huge difference.

Second: That's exactly what I said: The math says that the bits cannot explain the observations. Therefore one of our assumptions must be wrong. The math is correct. The math is provably correct. It is far, far more likely that the flawed assumption is that the bits are the whole of the thing, implying that there is something else working to make the bits do what they're doing. And we know, for a fact, that Shards are specialists in near-undetectable messing-around with bits of reality in precisely this way. Among others, it's the entire basis of Tinker powersets. So it's probably QA herself doing it, which I just find hilarious.

'What if Valkyrie Cores are actually just brain-dead Antagonists, that first asteroid was supposed to be a first contact attempt that went wrong, and we've been fighting the Antagonists by puppeting the comatose corpses of their own kind against them and that is why they hate us so much?' *Fridge Horror*

Electric sheep. :V

As additional evidence for QA's terribly tragic and abusive backstory, I'd like to point out this bit.

She's shielding her food, like she expects someone to try and take it from her. I'm going to assume that Taylor is doing that because her mum's lasagna was especially precious to her, but it sure does look like something else when it's self-admitted brain-damaged QA doing it, doesn't it?

That was what my brain leapt to on the first reading, but that didn't quite parse right for me. (The "most" of the plate doesn't make much sense in that context, and for all her traumas I don't think Taylor had an issue with lack of food). I think it simply meant to say that she covered most of her plate *with lasagna* while her hands were on autopilot.

It seemed to me more like she was covering most of the plate with her hands because the plate is pretty big, and spreading her fingers only does so much. Also, Taylor doesn't have an issue with food scarcity, but I did come up with an alternative explanation for why she'd automatically feel the need to shield her food in a cafeteria.

I wonder if it's not just that the lasagna is precious to Taylor, but also that they are currently in a cafeteria, and Taylor's hindbrain can't stop expecting that because she is holding something precious in a cafeteria, any moment now, Emma and Co will be coming around to fuck things up for her and ruin her precious thing.

Someone mentioned earlier it might have been a habit of Taylor's from all the trauma in Winslow. She is in a cafeteria with someone near her. Her habit to cover her food is more likely to keep someone from dumping it on the floor or herself, but combined with her admitting to mental trauma they're likely to assume she is protecting the food.

Edit: Ninja'd

and Anna was female, wasn't she? Queen Administrator would not need to tolerate requests for excessively physical attention should they become sufficiently close allies. That was immensely relieving.
I've been re-reading stuff and look what I found. Anybody willing to take a bet on just how apeshit people are going to go if she mentions this? Because this sounds a helluva lot like Tay-chan has had to endure/tolerate unwanted advances on her person frequently in the past.

Also the fireworks that will happen when it comes out that QA's "Society" throws babies into the wild with only a knife and is expected to survive will be epic.

... Annas first time in the simulator, she dismissed every simulated enemy as harmless attempts at EW decoys and scanned for real threats.

If she's in session with QA and QA deploys drones, wanna bet she locks on to them? If not because they're hostile because they're bogeys and she has a hard time classifying them as friendlies?

You are assuming that she can stay in the same place without blushing/getting flustered. :p:p:p:p

The simulator is large and the rest of the class is there along with a pair of instructors.

Also with Durga fully expressed, she has a helmet so blushing is not visible and fluster is possible to confuse for PTSD reactions.

Count me as one that enjoys the Crafting Club and hopes to see more of them. I'm looking forward to their 'analysis' getting back to Coke Zero.

Wait, did they just give her a cover story for making more Friends? Because that looks an awful lot like a good cover story. She could even excuse her Friend limit as a restriction placed on her due to prior misbehavior. QAylor's shrink is going to need a shrink before she's done, I think.

WE know. THEY don't. Just read the lines and tell me it doesn't sound like that.

Also I think you meant Escalation (Lung) not Broadcast.
One is mental, the other physical, but from a shard's point of view I'm not sure if there is a difference.

The point in INW where I really fell in love was when QA tried to tilt her head inquisitively and Hestia immediately corrected the angle with neither confusion nor judgement. It feels like we're approaching a similar point with the Crafting Club.
And so far it is proving to be worth the wait.

Being locked in the simulator also means that she can't escape without causing property damage.
