When she sank she kept herself afloat long enough to make sure all of her crew got off alive. That kind of strain may have caused her coming back to take longer, and in any case would earn her some slack I would imagine.

Jersey had fairies of every Captain and Admiral that had served on her when she went into her own CIC. Pennsy and Ari's WWII crews might have some difficulty operating their WWI configurations. Same with Jerseys 1980s crew. And all of her 80s crew certainly wouldn't be passed on.

As to personalities? I for one have a mental image of Iowa as being friendly but very quiet most of the time, but that's me. I'm an Iowan, and that's sort of the image a lot of people have for us. We're quiet, but some of the nicest, most friendly people you'll ever meet.
We're also cheeky little you-know-whats once you really get to know us.
That and corn. Everybody makes a big deal about the corn.
