In my opinion "Mad science" plan is a better plan in case of the fighting ceasing, while "secure the gains" is very much a war plan.

I just wanted to say that the rolls we just saw seem to strongly imply that the war is still going hot, thus i really think that "gains" is the plan we should go for.

Had we gotten any indication that the fighting was winding down, I probably would have changed my vote to "mad science", alas it was not to be.

Yeah I know, I just think that if you have so few Rs that you have to pick low R actions, picking Tiberium mining low R actions seems like the worst possible choice bar emergency. Just invest in serious mining and do the expensive actions next turn.
Well, when I originally did it, I was planning around the assumption that we had a shorter list of expensive items, such that the extra R would be unnecessary. Plus, it hadn't occurred to me that we have a per capita GDP problem from the refugee wave.

The thing is, trying to rush the tendril harvesters next turn will be damn near pointless as a way to fund new projects. We'll only get 270 R from Phase 1 of the tendril harvesters over the course of the Plan, and it will have cost us something like 210-240 R to get the improvment in the first place. Vein mining looks a little better in that department, I think, but in general we are hitting the point where it stops making sense to try to focus on increasing income for purposes of us having more money to do things, as opposed to just trying to cause general good for the economy.

Attempting to do tiberium mining to increase our income and better fund the remaining turns of the plan hits diminishing returns really fast after this turn. That's part of why I'm doing the tendril mining in my mad science plans.

I've switched votes several times now between the top two leading plans, but I feel deeply, deeply uncomfortable about arguing for one plan or another based on the early dice rolls.

We are lucky that they are being done now, as that speeds the update and gets us content faster. Using that benefit to try to alter our decision making seems... questionable, to me.
For me it is less the dice results so much as this is pointing out that this is still a war turn and any plan should be made with that in mind. And that is where Mad Science falls short- it has current fortress town (47%) and Firehawk Drones (57%) and that's it for war support with the rest of the mil projects being more future oriented (not a bad thing but also leaves us a little thin on additional support for the current conflict). Just adding the railgun harversters to help free up backline forces for use elsewhere would have helped.

My dude we get to keep 3 out of every 10 Resources per Turn we get in this plan in the next. If we can ramp up our harvesting fast enough we can get up to around 900 Resources per Turn for the next plan with 30% of income going to us. Just the Harvesting Tendrils will get us over 2100 Tiberium income. Finish the refits, build the new refineries, construct a stockpile and get the harvesting tendrils and we can make it to 2400 Tiberium income by the end of this plan easy.

Why is this so hard to figure out? We just go all out on Harvesting Tiberium this plan so that our income is so high as to give us a buffer for the first few turns and also increased enough that rebuilding the Resources per Turn is easy and done in the first and maybe second turn.

Yep. Freeze-drying is cursed.

I also find it ironic that the plan advertised as being war-focused and prioritizing securing our territory, has not succeeded in completing a ring of fortresses to guard our territory against heavy assault. My own plan's chances of doing so were no better, of course, I admit!

But then, I didn't advertise my plan as being optimized for territorial defense in the face of heavy Nod attacks, with this as the primary reason to favor it over the competition.
 
Someone has to be undermining it now. Three times in a row? At least narratively. Decidedly average turn no crit success but a number of 90s but one crit fail.
 
Railgun munitions did not pass, carrier yard still needs to be finished though shark yard did. Nat 1 hurts a bit. Skywatch failed as well, annoying that we need to spend 2 dice on two smaller projects instead of only one failing. Drones passed which is good. Both railgun factories passed with the lower dice on the one that was already partly progressed so that is a nice pickup.

Yep. Freeze-drying is cursed.

I also find it ironic that the plan advertised as being war-focused and prioritizing securing our territory, has not succeeded in completing a ring of fortresses to guard our territory against heavy assault. My own plan's chances of doing so were no better, of course, I admit!

But then, I didn't advertise my plan as being optimized for territorial defense in the face of heavy Nod attacks, with this as the primary reason to favor it over the competition.
One thing this plan is doing better is actually getting our forces into newly acquired Yellow and Green Zones, by sending harvesters and building small gathering foreposts.

Forgot about the no modifiers, nice to see this finish outright. Also overall solid progress through phases. 2 phases of Bergen will be nice to have out of the way. Can probably shift to fertilizer and drone factory next turn.

Edit- I think Regolith is at 98% with 1 die next turn which is nice for knocking out mines for the plan.

I'm glad we made it to Bergen Phase 2. I think we're gonna need to lay off Bergen for a turn or two, simply because of the pressing need to complete Anadyr, fund portal research (which is now almost certainly going to require three total dice, not two), and do other expensive things. Unless we have a very good argument for why we get a major immediate payoff from spending 4-6 dice and 120-180 R on the next phase of Bergen... Well, I'm not sure we can justify it.

One thing this plan is doing better is actually getting our forces into newly acquired Yellow and Green Zones, by sending harvesters and building small gathering foreposts.
Our forces were already in those newly acquired Zones. How do you think we acquired them in the first place?

The definition of a Green Zone is "a Yellow Zone that has GDI troops standing on it instead of Nod troops."

The only difference is that now there are more little firebases and fortified harvester bases and so on. It'll help, don't get me wrong, but those are the kinds of defenses that stop Nod raids, not dedicated Nod offensives with heavy first-rate combat units and good generalship.

If you want to stop a first-rate Nod offensive, you want a fortress town. Only we don't have those, and getting them would have required at least a third die on the fortress project, at least. Which we do not have.

We really need to make a plan next turn with 2 Dice on that thing.
This is the kind of thing that you want to be able to splurge resources to do, if you want to do it- because two dice on freeze drying costs 10 R more than one on freeze drying and one on something else.

Which is the kind of thing that is easier to do when you order your Tiberium department to do a bunch of high yield high return mining operations, which is why I wanted to do that?

Railgun munitions did not pass, carrier yard still needs to be finished though shark yard did. Nat 1 hurts a bit. Skywatch failed as well, annoying that we need to spend 2 dice on two smaller projects instead of only one failing. Drones passed which is good. Both railgun factories passed with the lower dice on the one that was already partly progressed so that is a nice pickup.

Orbital- 6 dice 298 progress from dice rolls (so before bonuses) though have to check and see if we lost or made ground or remained steady there.

Lunar Heavy Metals is the high-return one, so getting it this turn is a lucky break. It also means we can narrow our focus next turn and put more dice on Enterprise.
 
I think for next turn we will need at least one die each on Regolith and rare metals. We may need to pry some free dice loose for Enterprise-though given Agriculture's troubles, we may need them there as well.
