As An Eagle Flies (A House Arryn Quest)

So everyone like the state of the Vale? It might not be much, but at least the Vale isn't in debt.

Definitely. Though I am curious about the dramatic change in income and am looking forward to seeing how that came about.
Let's just say... Jon has a plan...Jon always has a plan.

Edit: he might not make more money then the Lannister's, but he's about to make some hefty change.

I'm curious why people want to spend an action with Nymeria, she's not a viable marriage option and her region isn't near ours.

It's important that we get our Martial up as soon as possible. Spending time with the other Wards isn't as needed at the moment, considering we probably have a War going down soon I'd say it's time we atleast get the basics down to remove that -20 Martial.

Also I'm probably alone on this but I dont think Arstan should be the one to have to hold Aerys hand all the time just to make sure he doesn't go Mad, let his family deal with it. Considering what happend at the Tourney his father should atleast be keeping a close eye on him.

So let's do what's best for us for now.

A Jump In Income and A Change In The Wind
A Jump in Income:

(Jon POV)

Perhaps it was from the capitals sweltering heat, or from the whole assassin business that nearly befell your son, the other wards and the king himself, but you were seething with rage.

"Your Grace!" you growled at your king, who allowed you to vent your, very well meaning, frustrations at him. "Why the hells did my son nearly died today?"

"Assassins are hardly things I can control Lord Arryn." he replied, taking a sip of wine. "And the children handled themselves quite well if I say so myself."

"They nearly died!" You bellowed.

"Nearly is not dead Lord Arryn. Besides Steffon, they are completely unharmed." Aegon stated. "And it would be wise you calmed down right now, so that we can discuss the matters that you are here for."

You took a deep breath, stealing the goblet in the King's hand and drinking the entirety of its contents. Letting out a refreshed sigh, you looked at your king. "The mission is done… with some minor complications."

"Minor complications?" the king asked.

"It seems the Iron Bank is doing everything in its power to stop the gold from leaving the city." You stated.

"Are they actually trying to stop it?" Aegon's eyes narrowed. The same eyes he made when he amused going to war across the Narrow Sea, to end the Blackfyre threat once and for all.

"More like feigning incompetence. Slowing the flow of gold being withdrawn, spending hours at a time to send even a chest, claiming that their counters miscounted by a factor of one hundred… They are truly trying to spend as much time as possible to get the gold to our ships, and ferrying them across the Narrow Sea." you replied.

"And the… other mission? The gold is something we can wait on, for it won't go anywhere but to the vaults here in King's Landing or Summerhall." He replied.

You nodded. "That chest you wanted is here in the city, at your quarters as you requested."

"Good." He replied. The king than paced the office, looking out the window to the Narrow Sea. "I have little doubts that there are plots at work against us Jon, against all of Westeros, to see another king sit on the Iron Throne. I fear that it may lead us to war…" There was a heavy sigh. "I must ask you this Jon." the king said your name. "If it happens, will you follow me to war?"

"The East is yours to command-" You started.

"Jon. I'm asking you, not the Warden of the East." Aegon replied.

You nodded. "As long as you keep my son is safe, I'll follow you to the seven hells."

The king nodded. "Good." He then walked over to his desk, and slide over a ledger.

"What is this?" You asked.

"Over the next year, instalments from the crown will be paid to you to invest in the silver mines of the Vale, improve the Navel defenses of Gulltown and the Fingers and bring your lord's to your side." The King stated in his regal tone. "A gift and reward for a successful mission."

You bowed your head. "Thank you, your Grace."

The king nodded. "No, thank you Lord Arryn."

You paused and then remembered the ledgers from Balish. "Your Grace, one more thing…" You showed him the ledgers of your own, the ones you took from Braavos.

"You might want to read this."

The king did, and his eyes narrowed again. "This… this changes everything."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your son was sleeping in his bed, quietly, barely a snore or a muffled sound to be heard. But you quietly snuck in, and leaned close to kiss his forehead.

"I love you Arstan." You whispered.

And you left for home.

Reward: Major infrastructure improvements are beginning in the Vale, and will be completed in ten years. Once completed, income will increase by 4 million Dragons.

For the next two years, the Crown is giving an extra ten million dragons to the Vale for successfully completing the mission to Braavos.

Braavosi Traders and Iron Bank representatives are barred from entering any Westerosi City by Edict of King Aegon the 5th, for thievery, offering false contracts, Subterfuge on the Westerosi Economy, Grand Larceny, Impersonating royal tax collectors, and usury.

Any Braavosi Trader or Iron Bank offcial that does not leave the continent before the fifth moon of the following year, will be treated as Enemies of the Realm, their assets will be seized, and they will be sentenced to die by legal authority of the King of Westeros.

AN: I'll let you guess what happened.

Hint: The Iron Bank and the Braavosi did some real shifty shit.

Oof, that is some very good news and some very bad news. The Vale is going to have its infrastructure overhauled significantly and its navy improved, yay! However tensions are high with Braavos and there's Blackfyre invasion on the horizon, boo. I'm still convinced the Blackfyres tried to steal dragon eggs. War with Braavos and the Iron Bank may be imminent but unlikely for now.

Also who's the main character of this quest, us or our dad!?

We are, but we're still a child at this point so we're bound to the whims of other people at the moment, and we still need to grow up a bit before we can really start wrecking shit by being in charge of something important.

Edit: Though Jon is starting to really hate going on all those adventures off screen and being the hero of his own story, he just wants to relax and Rule the Vale.

That is true, but the dice seem to love him more than they do us.

Ha, yeah he's definitely getting involved in more adventures now.
