Her father is a rich businessman with factories in Joseon, and she's engaged to Ken from Castles of Steel. Speaks Joseon.

For her trouble, a cousin threw acid on her, scarring her face, neck, much of her torso, and her left arm. Despite appearing serene and above it all, she's actually an avowed communist activist and baseball player.

Uyeno Sei, Ballistics Engineer, 31.
The oldest member of the crew, this is Uyeno's second career. Her first was as an officer in the Imperial Navy with specialized technical training: her very promising career was cut short by her transition. Her work in a naval arsenal on machine-guns landed her the job here. Briefly dated Satomi (the age range is a bit creepy but again, 1912), she's missing a piece of her ear and is deaf on that side, from an exploding cannon. Recently returned from Varnmark from experimental surgery, she's known for her skill navigating gendered bureaucracy.

A recent graduate of the Imperial College of Heijo, Mi is from the recently annexed territory of Joseon. For those keeping track at home, that means he's a Korean national living in Imperial Japan in 1912. We haven't seen much of his personality because he's rightfully terrified of everything around him. He has a specialty in endurance engine design and modification. Speaks Joseon.

Endurance Engines: Mi has an excellent understanding of metallurgy and tolerances. Any engine he works on gains +1 Reliability if a 16+ is rolled.
Pulsejet Wizard: Mi is now one of the world's leading experts on the pulsejet engine. He can be given his own project to custom-craft pulsejet engines, and he gives +1 to any pulsejet-related project.
Joseon National: Mi does not have security clearance to work on any top-secret projects.

Miyoshi Shigeri, 23.
A non-binary person and admirer of Asuka's work, they were in an support role in the Army before joining the company.

- Adachi Yuki: Adachi's 7 year old daughter and wannabe pilot. Very adorable.
- Yachi's Brother: Exists.
- Sakane's Wife: Exists. Drives him a bit crazy, but he loves her.
- Yachi's Brother's Wife: Exists. Is statistically likely to be pregnant.
- Lt. Coralie D'Amboise: Gallian pilot in exile. Satomi's girlfriend. 25. Accomplished bisexual duelist. She flew in the war for a single day, and for her troubles got a hole blown in her cheek and had her left arm paralyzed.

Akisukuni Army & Ex-Army
- Lt. Torio Tanaka: Yachi's former observer as an enlisted man. Was jumped up to fly Ducks and lost a leg on his first mission. A trained painter, married to Torio Saya.
- Captain Amari Shiro: A Dragonfly pilot who ended up flying as Yachi's partner. Kind of delightfully twinky. They sorta slept together at one point, which wasn't great. He lost his previous boyfriend in the April Offensive and turned his plane into a shrine. He was shot in the gut and is still recovering.
- Major Izuhara: Logistics officer, Imperial Army, this bespectled officer stood up to the Caspian Crown Prince and accidentally kicked off the Akitsikuni-Caspian War. The guilt was so much that, after almost a year of running Army procurement, he shot himself in a phone both.
- Captain Nakai Sekien: Army scout pilot. First person to drop a bomb from an airplane, later head of the Duck Squadrons.
- Captain Teshima: A Desk pilot that fought with Yachi. Lost an arm in the process, took over for Major Izuhara after his death. Seems cheery despite it all.
- Captain Nashio: A real piece of shit dude and probably a rapist, he's also a war hero as the second-highest scoring ace on the Akitsukuni side. He was a young shitty kid in way over his head but it's no excuse.
- Lt. Kinjo: Kind of a dumb lump and Nashio's friend, one of the desk pilots. Dead at 19.
- Lt. Okazaki: Yachi's friend from before the war and pilot, he died in a spin in his dragonfly. His death probably hit Yachi the hardest.

Westerners
- Rose & Antoinette Sears: Pioneers of flight. Sisters. Black in 1910s not!America. Yikes.
- Timina Guasti: Famous aircraft designer from Otrusia. Likes big planes and green.
- Prince Protasov Vasilyevich: Crown Prince of Great Caspia. Real dick. You gotta hand it to him though, a decent flier.
- Count von Zeppelin: Invented rigid airships. Runs a successful airline business. Damned impressive.

A DNE of 440 kph? Well then, makes me wonder if that will ever get put to the test. Though, honestly, the fact that the Duck has a max loaded speed of 110 kph and a stall of 100 kph is the most concerning part of the design as it stands, but the only thing that comes to mind that could help alleviate that would be to add a better engine for more speed and power.
That's...really dangerous and unacceptable for a bomber in a world of early aviation. It means that loaded bombers have almost no room to maneuver. And climbing to altitude would take forever. Hell, a bad headwind would knock you out of the sky.

It's even worse when you consider that with the flaps down, max loaded speed is 40 kph and stall is at 30 kph, meaning you can get off the ground, but in order to pull the flaps back up, you'll need to immediately dive to gain airspeed. Honestly, I'm thinking that in cases where the airfields are close enough to whatever needs to get hit, the Army would probably leave half the fuel at home to leave a larger margin for error in airspeed.

This quest has been an interesting trip into the other kind of gay for me I'll tell you.
 
Checking the publicly available sheet that you posted in 5-16 here, it doesn't look like it. Unless you changed values in the table and didn't have that reflect on the indicated airspeed and stall values at the bottom.
Yeah, I gotta change it over to match Sam's calculations. Point is, don't worry it's okay.
 
To be fair, the only other design quest here that had a good designing and a good romance plot got killed off by the disaster that the later created.
So that was the reason. I was worried sick that it was my "deciding vote into compromise" that caused it. That makes me a bit at ease.
 
Yeah, because of the way flight envelopes work, the higher the altitude, the narrower the flight envelope gets. I think for older B-52s, the difference between stall speed and max speed at higher altitudes was just a few knots.

Yeah. I mean, in practice the operational ceiling of any given aircraft is defined as the altitude at which the aircraft cannot generate enough lift to keep the plane in the air- that is to say, the altitude at which the plane cannot help but stall out.

The problem with a plane whose maximum speed and stall speed are only ten knots apart at sea level is that it will have a strong tendency, under any adverse conditions such as a poorly tuned engine, an engine malfunction, or unfavorable weather conditions, to seek to descend to a lower altitude at which its flight envelope is more favorable.

Which, being as how the flight ceiling is so close to sea level, means the plane will try to fly underground.

Ain't nobody who has enough Structure for that. :p

Fortunately, we are assured the problem has been fixed.

The odds of a good domestic beer in Japan is slightly lower than our ability to build a ten-engine bomber or complete a transpolar flight right now. Remember, over there Bud Light and Miller are generally considered a cup above. I'm voting for wine, because that'll at least probably not be garbage.

Alas, I don't have an electronic copy of Samurai! so checking some of the stuff in there would be hard. But I think Saburo Sakai mentions that the fully loaded zero had some of the same problem, where the cruising speed and stalling speed (at altitude) were uncomfortably close together.

But ca1939 Japanese Navy pilots were pretty much the supermen of aviation. Their feats included things like flying at considerable altitude without oxygen, coordinating their aircraft without radios, and so on...

Yeah, we drink the imported stuff though.

Domestic? Maybe we should just go for the alcohol from the aircraft shop floor, that stuff at least is honest in it's labels.

Oh, bullshit. They ditched the radios because the radios were garbage, their "no oxygen" flights were a side effect of being dumbasses who were shortly to overplay their planes and get mulched, and that coordination fell apart in a dogfight. What won the war in the air were tactics like the Thatch Weave, something that even the best aces in the Kido Butai admitted they couldn't handle alone.

Also, Tsingdao had special exceptions under German law to account for sub-par beer laced with quinine.
 
Come to think of it, I seem to recall hearing that a problem with early airborn warfare was that money was poured into that field of military operations without actual consideration for how it would help win battles on the ground or at sea.

In that sense, this war, where bombing out trainyards is one of the first goals to be focused on (And protecting the people bombing out the trainyards will probably be one of the next ones) is way ahead of IRL in terms of productive air doctrine, especially since Caspia is about 100% fucked if they can't keep their single, continent spanning train line running all the way to the battlefield.
Pedanticness Moment: The correct spelling is either "Tsingtao" or "Qingdao".
All existing methods of romanizing Chinese are dumb anyways, since none of them produce phonetic (or even remotely intuitive) spellings consistently.
