Aiding the E.G.G.M.A.N. (Sonic)

Do fish even work as power sources? Because I was under the impression that the standard woodland critters were the only living things other than those Little Planet flowers that would actually work.

Besides, they'd be incredibly niche even if they did work, because we'd need to either use them exclusively for aquatic units or make their containment units aquariums. Squirrels and birds seem more versatile to me.
Aquariums seems possible, the main issue would be having servos capable of dealing with the water's weight. However, the aquarium would provide an easy ability to have energy stored by preforming electrolysis on the water when there is a surplus of energy then storing the hydrogen in a separate container. Then, when energy demands are high, we could burn said hydrogen, which would result in water which can then be stored back into the aquarium.

so, I just realized that the situation we're in is a lot more dangerous than I was expecting. specifically if we gather all the chaos emeralds than eggman is going to use them to power the ark, and then the failsafes will activate and it'll ram itself into the earth and I'm not sure how we're going to stop that. originally I thought that we'd get put on the ark and would be able to take control of it's computer systems to stop it, since we're an AI. but now I don't think that's actually going to wind up happening.

So, whatever happened to E-105 Zeta and E-101 Beta? I don't think we ever saw anything of them after Eggman began remodeling them a while back.

I'm glad that at least Gamma survived in this, but also a little sad that he never got his character development since his brothers were never actually thrown away and were instead destroyed by Sonic and friends.

Zeta is presumably still part of the Egg Carrier. Beta, though... good question.

And I doubt Gamma's "character development" (ie "hijacking by the little birdy in his head") is completely off the table, since said bird is still in there. Not to mention how... y'know... we've been wanting to prevent it from happening because that means him turning against us (not quite clear on why it hasn't happened yet, honestly; we haven't really done anything on that front).

Well Gamma wanting to free the birds happened cause of seeing amy and the bird considering that never happened here I assume it will take a lot longer for the bird to take control of gamma.

Wait a minute...

What's stopping us from going World War Two on Mobius and researching nuclear energy/weaponry? Is there just no starting point begin research?

A thought that just randomly occurred to me: We hate Metal Sonic and thus refuse to upgrade him, but that doesn't mean we can't send him on missions, right? It just means we hope he gets himself killed on them if we do.

In other words, Metal Sonic is the ideal cannon fodder: Strong enough to make an impact, yet expendable enough that we won't care if he gets blown up in the process.

...though he's also pretty much guaranteed to be extremely salty at the fact that his older brother's gotten so many upgrades while we aren't even considering giving him any. And the fact that Silver managed to get a good hit in on Sonic just now without even needing a super form to do it. So he might disobey us just because it'd be us giving the orders.

Hmm, what upgrades can we give to Metal though? (Preferably after Heroes and once we get the disobedience out of him.)

I inspired myself. Have an omake.

Suicide Mission

Metal Sonic stomped through the hallways, raging at the Egg Brain once again. The nerve of the researcher, to tell him that if he wanted upgrades he should prove himself worthy first!

Silver Sonic had failed even worse than him, and yet it had still seen fit to upgrade the fool enough to stand beside Alpha; what did Silver have that Metal didn't?!

He whirred a bit, the closest he could come to sighing without a voice. At least it had deigned to give him an opportunity to prove himself instead of simply leaving it at that: He had been placed in charge of a task force, composed of Pawns, Hammers, Flappers, and even an MP Gamma as his second-in-command, and ordered to hunt down Sonic and his friends. Simple enough, and perfectly in-line with his own desires; he would've liked a few more troops, but knew better than to rebel when that would just lead to him being decommissioned and his task force assigned to another, less worthy machine.

Well, time to go collect his adjutant to begin his mission...

--------

The Egg Brain gleefully watched Metal Sonic depart for his mission; that had gone far better than expected!

It had informed Metal Sonic that he was perfectly suitable for the mission he had been assigned, and it hadn't even been lying, save by omission: He was perfectly suitable because this mission had literally been made for him.

Metal Sonic was powerful, but not so much so as to be indispensable. He was incapable of speech, and so could not give away sensitive information. He was incredibly hateful of his target, and so would sooner be destroyed utterly than give him information even if he was capable of doing so; it had further exploited this flaw in order to trick him into accepting the mission in the first place. He was incredibly resistant to the Egg Brain's reprogramming attempts, and thus would likely be even more so to Tails'.

How better to dispose of such a machine than to send it on a suicide mission, giving it just enough force to make success mathematically plausible while relying on Sonic's tendency to acquire new powers or unforeseen assistance to eliminate that success chance?

The Gamma unit that had been sent along was both a further smokescreen to prevent Metal questioning the nature of his assignment, and a failsafe: If the Egg Brain's expectations of the original Sonic were unwarranted and Metal's task force managed to successfully defeat him, it was to shoot Metal Sonic in his moment of triumph; if, however, things went to plan, it was to prioritize its own safety over retrieving Metal (destroying Metal itself, if need be, to prevent his capture). And, of course, the Pawn-series units had been chosen for their expendability, and programmed to obey the Gamma unit over Metal Sonic.

...It may just have a knack for manipulating machines into doing what it wanted them to regardless of their own wishes.

Reinforcements To Fort OX
[x] To Fort OX

Much as you would love nothing more than to ruin all of Tail's hard work again… you have another mission to focus on, and thus you send more reinforcements to For Ox in the hope of both increasing chances of success and reducing losses among the higher end machines.

Hopefully you'll at least be able to destroy the Fox's new tornado with said reinforcements.

You calculate that it's doubtful but there always is a small chance.

Thankfully combined with the reinforcements Silver Sonic and the Lumberjack are at least capable of keeping Sonic and the mutant fox distracted long enough for Alpha to travel through the walls between him and the larger part of Fort Ox's gold supply.

Incidentally Fort Ox now has a new hallway making travel to and from the vaults far more convenient….. If they ever decide to put anything in them after this of course.

Annnnd as Alpha and the Lady Ninja grab large amounts of gold and important documents respectively you decide that its time to call the retrait….. You objectives have been finishes and Sonic just tricker Silver Sonic into smashing the lumberjack with a charges attack.

Giving past performance if the fight continues Sonic and Tails will somehow manage to figure out how to make that happen two more times with the third leading to the likely destruction of one of the Team Egg units.

….. Naturally to cover the retreat you throw wave after wave of Egg Pawns at Sonic and his abomination of a sidekick but such is life.

XXXXX

Shadow.

The…. 'ultimate lifeform' that Eggman has freed from GUN confinement is an interesting one.

Mainly because he looks like a Goth version of Sonic but the info on the Eclipse Cannon is valuable and is more than enough for you creator to begin work on the second stage of his plans.

….. Hmmm it seems GUN is aware of the breakout however and has identified Shadow as a 'A dangerous fugitive with capabilities closely mirroring that of known hero Sonic the Hedgehog', it makes sense the two might have similar powers but one would have been be either a fool or lying to say that the two are the same.

Also the doctor appears to have recruited a bat jewel thief to aid in his objectives… you dislike her immediately but refrain from voicing your objections from now.

Currently the doctor is preparing a raid on Prison Island, GUN has stored a Chaos Emerald within its confines making an attack on the place a necessity.

Still you will not involved in it, as you have another ojective in mind.

What is it?

--[X] Tails Workshop
-[X] Side Mission: Send Lady Ninja to spy/learn from/about the bat.
-[X] Send a thousand Egg Pawns to stir up trouble and make a general nuisance of themselves, near enough to Tail's place to draw him out and away before attacking and ransacking his house and workshop.

Hopefully the fox hasn't been back yet
Time for mischeif
Edit extra mischief for the bat as well
Edit 2 an excellent idea doccer a riot will do to draw him out

Right, we've dealt a severe blow to GUN's future capabilities without damaging the vital personnel, allowing us potential of future infiltration.

Now I think is the perfect time for petty vengeance!

To Tails' workshop and our personal grudge!

Also, us noting Shadows as a goth sonic killed me.

[ ] Fort Ox
[ ] Tails Workshop
[ ] The Hexagon
[ ] Station Square

Those were our mission slots. FORT OX IS DONE so chose something else

Tails Workshop could really damage his ability o come up with the fake emeralds as he did in canon or not since GUN is working with them or not since bureaucracy and the ARK being the Government's worst secret might mean they are really hush hush about what they really know of Chaos and Shadow

Tails is clearly our Nemesis, so petty vengeance it is!

Also this, in fact it might also end up making Tail decide to actually move his workshop somewhere else more fortified and give him minor paranoia.

Presumably, Tails already has the how-to on fake emeralds figured out; only issues are the facilities to actually make them... and the fact that the blueprints got stolen (by us).

Anyway, we've got a choice between reinforcing what I assume to be the Hidden Base (possibly Pyramid Cave and Death Chamber as well) or throwing another wrench into the good guys' plans.

...screw it. GRUDGE MATCH!
