Aiding the E.G.G.M.A.N. (Sonic)

Voting is open
Now that I'm thinking of Chaos Gamma equivalents for the other E-Series, I feel like it'd be a shame if we never build a Tank Model E-Series. Problem is, I'm not sure how we'd get it off the top of my head; Delta and Epsilon are Hydro and Hover, respectively, Beta is a Hover who's probably stronger than anything we can make due to receiving the Doctor's personal attention, and Zeta's a Fortress (and installed to guard the Carrier's engines).

Since it doesn't quite feel right to me to make a Chaos version of an active E-Series (and Delta and Epsilon are the only losses we've had so far on that front), we might just need to make a new one, but if we do what should we call it? Or should we just pretend Zeta doesn't exist and make Chaos Zeta?

On a tangentially-related note: Currently working on compiling a list of suggested custom designs (including alternate-continuity imports) for reader convenience.

Disclaimer: This list may be incomplete; if I missed any go ahead and let me know.

While the suggestions themselves will be added, due to a combination of certain designs being brought up multiple times by different people (some of them clarifying or adding on to previously-established ideas), the idea only occurring to me on about Page 35 of my reread, and sheer laziness on my part, I will not be linking the posts each suggestion was made in except for the ones that are unlocked by omake rewards.

I will be updating this list as I see new suggestions.

Update: Sorted design proposals by intended placement, with the various design lines getting their own sections.

Note to everyone who keeps bringing up the Mecha Sonic from Genesis Sonic 2: He's already present, in the form of Silver Sonic of Team Egg.

Hey Ho Hey Ho its off to death the enemy goes.
[X] Past Badniks the good doctor has created a wide variety of machines in the past, perhaps bringing one of these older machines up to date could be of aid to your creator.
-[X] Hey Ho

The Hey Ho is an old design. It is also fairly powerful despite being one of the older machines in the doctor's arsenal. That ax that it will as it turns out is of a fairly strong make, and even as advancements in armor have rendered it less effective it still can do quite a bit of damage even if it is no longer the engine of destruction it once was.\

It is also a proficient flyer, nothing that would win an aerial dogfight of course but it still is more than able to handle most hovering enemies as well as flying Mobians like a certain two tailed fox.

These two simple characteristics form a strong base but it's age means that there are quite a few areas where you can improve upon it,

What do you do? (You have 60 Points)
[ ] Burning thrusters: you can enhance the thrusters on the Hey Ho to such intensity that should just send it can set fire to the ground directly under it or scorch an unfortunate foe. 5 points.
[ ] Enhanced Axe: an update to the metallurgy of the Hey Ho's axe should now be able to cut through most common metals though exceptionally armored or durable specimens will still be able to resist it without much trouble. 10 Points.
Dual wielding: The power of the Hey Ho's arms are increased and it is given a second ax with which to do battle. 10 points.
[ ] Weapon skill upgrade: The Hey Ho becomes far more proficient in its weapon of choice allowing it to fight with a masters level proficiency the usage of its ax. 5 Points.
[ ] Burning Ax: The Hey Ho's axe is infused with powerful flames causing it to burn anything it impacts. 10 points requires enhanced ax.
[ ] Burning Mastery: The Hey Ho's Fire related systems are interconnected and enhanced giving a sort of pseudo-Pyrokinesis, its capabilities not as great as say a fire based super formb but it is still capable of virtually covering the battlefield inflamed single-handedly. 30 points, this is a capstone ability, requires at least three fire related upgrades.
[ ] Burning wrist: A simple wrist mounted flamethrower. 5 points
[ ] Burning Wrist 2: A wrist mounted flamethrower on the machine's other hand. 5 points, requires the previous version.
[ ] Throwing axes: Equips the Hey Ho with a near limitless supply of throwing axes to be used at its discretion. 10 points.
[ ] Pyro axes: Allows the Hey Ho to infuse extreme levels of heat into its throwing actors giving them an extra burning punch when needed. Five points requires throwing axes.
[ ] Micro Tree Accelerator: Implants a miniature version of the tree accelerator into the Hey Ho letting it create and manipulate the extremely durable trees produced by these machines to some extent, it is of course much weaker than the full sized version and as such the trees are do not reach the same immense sizes but it is still more than capable of reshaping entire battlefields. 30 points, this is a capstone ability.
[ ] Exploding fruit: The trees created by the micro tree accelerator will drop exploding fruit on the enemy. 5 points.
[ ] Spiky: The trees produced by this ability occasionally will have spiky outgrowths that make them damaging for organic matter to touch. This is not the ability results can be random. 5 points.

You can assign this machine to one of two areas.
[ ] The new Team Egg.
[ ] The Egg Forest.

Anyone wanna give extra points for this?

@undead frog Do I have any spare points for this?

5+5+5+5+10+30=60
Perfectly meets the limit.

So Silver Sonic has Water, Hey Ho has Fire, and Alpha is immune to Lightning. Well good to know our boss Badniks can have an element with them to give an extra boost.

I think if we're going for Egg Team, Tree Capstone works best, since that not only gives him a way to affect the surrounding for the other two, but also lets him fight from a range.

Fire Capstone isn't really good for a team, since other robots can be affected by the fires. Plusing having suitable hand to hand would be useful in case forced into open combat.

Player Design Suggestions
Let's not forget weapons and equipment, we have a light machine gun, a spear and a laser bazooka as well as metal shields for the Egg Pawns and possibly future SWAT Bots, but we can do more.

Weapon Possibilities
  • Electro Shield (when spiked metal shields aren't harmful enough)
  • Heavy Machine Gun (for completeness and because our robots can carry the weight)
  • Grenades (standard, smoke, flash bang, tear gas, ice, etc glue variants from the Mega Muck?)
  • Grenade Launcher (lasers are direct fire only, support from the next hill sounds great)
  • Shotgun (Homing attack, meet skeet shooting)
  • Underslung Grenade Launcher/Shotgun (for when you want it, but not all the time)
  • Proximity/Timed Airburst Grenade (why settle for a near miss)
  • Seperating the E-Series' rocket launcher from its machine gun (I don't like that it stops firing to lock-on)
  • Ball Lightning Gun (possible stun gun and Tails made one in canon, so why not?)
  • Alternative Ammunition (Armor piercing, high explosive, incendiary, etc.)
  • Charged Blast Bazooka (Beta has something like it, not sure if mass producible yet)
Egg Carrier
Edit: Might do more later, update derailed my train of thought.

[ ] Enhanced Axe: an update to the metallurgy of the Hey Ho's axe should now be able to cut through most common metals though exceptionally dairy of durable
Autocorrupt. Also Pyro Axes says "throwing actors."

[X] Plan: Pretty little fires
[X] The new Team Egg

I suppose throwing axes can wait.

I'd rather have the two tree upgrades than dual wielding, partially because I think dual wielding axes that size is kinda dumb, but this seems like a good plan

The Tree spikes are said to be random, so they are unreliable to use, while the fruit bombs could be useful, though fire and personal combat is preferred.

Dual axes means for twice the amount of tree's that could be dropped, say if we want to let them fall on someone...

Alternatively, we can use it make productivity go up by chopping twice the amount with Hey Ho's power.

Only thing missing is some Range for the Flying Unit that I hope to amend through Omake bonuses

Tails won't know what hit him...

Wow, that's a lot of points we get for this one. Not complaining about it, but... 60?!

[X] Plan: Pretty little fires
[X] The new Team Egg

This plan's pretty close to what I'd go for. I'd prefer the flamethrowers over dual wielding, personally, but this is still a good setup; flamethrowers vs. another axe isn't worth splitting the vote.

And voting to put it on Team Egg because that's the reason I've been voting for it in the first place. Which means that we're about to find out what we get for completing a Whim: We've got Alpha (E-Series) for Power, Silver Sonic (Metal Series) for Speed, and now Hey Ho (Miscellaneous Badnik) for Flight.

Reread the info sheet and I think we should get more Chao eggs after this, if we're not wrapping up Hey Ho, Silver, the Pawns, Arctic Army or the Egg Carrier/Fleet. The research options are pretty solid.

  • Chao Egg
    • Creation of solids from energy.
    • Smaller scale manufacturing.
    • Chaos blast resistance.
Wait, why wasn't Beta the flight part of Team Egg? Is it just that Beta is Eggman's creation and not ours?

Each member must be from a different line; since Alpha is already a member, we cannot put another E-Series badnik on Team Egg.

It's an arbitrary limitation, but whims are arbitrary so...

edit:
Proof that the "different lines" thing is an explicit requirement:
Team Egg: The Hedgehog is enough of a pain on his own, let alone with his meddlesome friends... perhaps if my machines had a team of their own. Yes! Yes! That could work!.... but I don't have the time to do it myself... oh well another project for the backburner!
Create
1 High level Power focused machine.
1 High level Speed focused machine.
1 High Level Flight focused machine.
All Machines must be of different lines (ie general badnicks, E-series, Egg Pawns, and Metal Counterparts are the current available lines.).
Quoted directly from the Optional Objectives informational threadmark.

That and Eggman could be saving Beta MK2 as a boss or his own bodyguard along with Gamma. Cause with Beta and Gamma to help him storm G.U.N I can see them causing more destruction than just Eggman himself.

Voting is open
