Aiding the E.G.G.M.A.N. (Sonic)

So what units are we gonna bring to Fort Ox? Are we bringing team egg?
Going by the text in the update? We're bringing everything. It's an official order from our boss, so logically he'll supply us with the forces we need to actually succeed.

And besides, it's not like we need to succeed in our raid to accomplish our mission; it just gives us some kind of bonus, though what that bonus is probably depends on our target. And on that note!

[X] Fort Ox

Because new research is all well and good, but not worth much if we can't afford to implement it.

GUN's main headquarters, I'd guess. Kinda like Fort Ox is an expy of Fort Knox, the Hexagon sounds like an expy of the U.S. Pentagon.

Which means the Hexagon presumably has the highest difficulty out of all the options.
Fort ox would probably be the second hardest due to the fact that GUN's money is there.

True enough, but on the other hand GUN's money being there makes it an attractive target.

So anyway, let's look at the potential benefits and risks of each option here:
  • Fort Ox: Heavily-guarded by GUN, but also their biggest stockpile of funding. Winning here would cripple, but not annihilate GUN.
  • Tails' Workshop: Almost entirely unguarded aside from Tails himself (if he happens to be there at the time) and whatever defense systems he's installed, could steal whatever schematics Tails has cooked up in the meantime but otherwise little to no benefit aside from satisfaction from being a spiteful bastard (and potentially establishing a "calling card" of sorts).
  • Hexagon: GUN's main base. They'll throw everything they have at us if we try this, but if we win it basically renders them irrelevant for the rest of the quest.
  • Station Square: Lightly-guarded by GUN, but high probability of mobian interference. Not entirely clear what we'd get from there aside from a few miscellaneous nick-knacks, but I'm sure there's something (raiding the jewelry store maybe?).

What about Tails than? Should we target him instead or will he expect another attack after the first one.
Maybe later; for now, we're trying to distract GUN, and attacking him doesn't sound distracting enough to be worthwhile. As I said, I'd expect GUN to mostly leave Tails' defenses to Tails himself. Attacking GUN directly, however, pretty much guarantees a large-scale response.

There are probably important computer systems or physical storage to potentially steal data from that could give us a money trail to follow up on possible Gun bases of interest, unlikely to give us anything substantial on what makes them interesting but it wouldn't be any fun without any challenge as the good doctor would say.

Speaking of dark, your creator was currently raiding a GUN base that was home to something college project shadow

'called' I think.

Station Square
The easiest way to get some distraction going but, doesn't really gain us much. And gets various bystanders involved, which is an opening for some heroic types to show up and get involved extra. Not so grand a time. Not interested.

The Hexagon

A decap strike on the big organization is a potentially big move, but if we fail we fail hard, it's a high risk high reward thing. Maybe if we made those one GUN disguised egg pawns I imagined before, but as it is, nah. Our desire to get back at GUN for the carrier attack isn't that grand.

Which leaves two tempting options.

Fort Ox

GUN's money, or rather, GUN's backers' money. An important distinction. Hitting GUN could obliterate the organization, it's skilled personnel and equipment. This removes the funding for future equipment but leaves the skilled personnel in search of more funding. It also potentially could negatively affect their reputation, making it harder for them to get others to do business with them. A good way to weaken the organization without a crushing blow and yet leave it around.

Tails Workshop

On the other hand, we hate GUN less than Tails. Their blows on us came from his capability aiding them. And it would help cement our little rivalry further, showing we're thinking of him first and foremost.

But, it would be less of a essential need for GUN to show up, and Sonic would be more likely to show up faster for his friend. And the main benefit would be future designs of his if we could grab any.

Then again, just going out of the blue instead of with a proper buildup seems a bit off, we are a supporting villain not our own main one yet.

So overall I vote for what most others do.

And this has left me with a funny idea of GUN eager to find rich backers finds one of their new backers to be a mysterious wealthy guy, Professor Overeasy. Prefers to do his chatting with text to speech for some odd reason.

Do recall GUN Fortress is a top-secret facility which acts like a subterranean HQ and even has three Mother Computers to control their forces. Or at least thats what their basicly doing by the time the level comes around. Plus the whole the Commander being there and the President of the United Federation being taken there. Do have the impression that is where the Commander is most of the time in that control room.

...Though thinking on it I suppose a possibility exists of them being based somewhere else only to move main operations to the fortress sometime before the Black Arms invade... Following the Dark path does mention it becoming GUN's last stronghold and with the mention of replenishing forces it probably does have production facilities. Though there's also the pools of toxic waste it has. It's been a long while since I played Shadow the Hedgehog.

Hm, would think Central City would be a good distraction as that's the capital of the United Federation. Granted I suppose if it's the capital and if the Hexagon is basicly their Pentagon then chances are good that it's in or near Central City.

Though in Sonic X there's also Area 99 that exists.

Further thought: This will probably be the MP-Gamma design's debut battle. If they were worried about Gamma before, they'll be terrified now that there's more than one of him.

Don't forget about Hey Ho's debut as well, and perhaps the new Egg Hammers as well.

Along with Kunoichi, but she'll probably be doing stuff behind the scenes as the others go loud.
