Speaking of dark, your creator was currently raiding a GUN base that was home to something college project shadow
'called' I think.
Station Square
The easiest way to get some distraction going but, doesn't really gain us much. And gets various bystanders involved, which is an opening for some heroic types to show up and get involved extra. Not so grand a time. Not interested.
The Hexagon
A decap strike on the big organization is a potentially big move, but if we fail we fail hard, it's a high risk high reward thing. Maybe if we made those one GUN disguised egg pawns I imagined before, but as it is, nah. Our desire to get back at GUN for the carrier attack isn't that grand.
Which leaves two tempting options.
Fort Ox
GUN's money, or rather, GUN's backers' money. An important distinction. Hitting GUN could obliterate the organization, it's skilled personnel and equipment. This removes the funding for future equipment but leaves the skilled personnel in search of more funding. It also potentially could negatively affect their reputation, making it harder for them to get others to do business with them. A good way to weaken the organization without a crushing blow and yet leave it around.
Tails Workshop
On the other hand, we hate GUN less than Tails.
Their blows on us came from
his capability aiding them. And it would help cement our little rivalry further, showing we're thinking of him first and foremost.
But, it would be less of a essential need for GUN to show up, and Sonic would be more likely to show up faster for his friend. And the main benefit would be future designs of his if we could grab any.
Then again, just going out of the blue instead of with a proper buildup seems a bit off, we
are a supporting villain not our own main one yet.
So overall I vote for what most others do.

And this has left me with a funny idea of GUN eager to find rich backers finds one of their new backers to be a mysterious wealthy guy, Professor Overeasy. Prefers to do his chatting with text to speech for some odd reason.
