A Little Vice (Trans Magical Girl fic)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
this story is awesome and take absolutely all the time you need to give it the ending you want it to have
im new to SV so idrk here but where im from, finished fics are super rare lol, so whenever i see one finishing i get really happy that the author has... accomplished something really amazing
and you have accomplished something really amazing and im excited to see the ending but im happy to wait years if that means itll be the best that it can be
Man, that feels true for everything. I have seen so many unfinished works that were so good. I find it especially frustrating if they just vanish without a trace, cause they could have needed a break or they could have been kidnapped by aliens.

Or the ones that die when they're just chapter or two away from ending.

The elitist web serialists don't want me to tell you this, but you don't need an overarching plot. The goofy character interactions are free to write anytime with no greater context. I have 143 text documents of random humorous vignettes I felt like writing.

i've got ideas for a few cute post-series scenes in mind that may get posted here now and then. As for a sequel, well, I've definitely toyed with the idea, but if there is one it'll likely be a pretty different work in some ways, instead of just more of the same, and it definitely won't be my next big project.

Few epilogue chapters to see how Chiro and others are doing after the end of the story would be nice.

Chiro still hasn't accepted that she's trans tbh. She doesn't want to appropriate trans culture and all that. (she'll probably do once she's no longer Envy, but that technically hasn't happened yet)

If Chiro doesn't have a fucking musical number-tier feelings explosion about accepting her gender identity as a woman by the end of the next chapter I might actually have an aneurysm.

Well, she literally can't while she's a Beast since accepting who she is and be happy is literally anathema to her power. That'll have to wait until she becomes a Saint which, granted, will probably happen next chapter.

The implication is that the Beast powers abandoned her as soon as she accepted Inessa's help. The Seed's still in there but she's directly primed (and the next episode preview heavily implies that she's going) to confront her own heart on the matter.

If we're lucky, we'll get an image song out of it.

I mentally played Light and Shadow over Chapter 16, and the lyrics make a weird amount of sense for the fight.

The first two verses sound like Chiro's despair and envy.

The last verse sounds like Inessa's offer for them both to finally stop looking up to the images they built up in their heads the entire time and actually listen to each other--and the climactic music building up to the softer, final hug at the end.

Also the song was written for a trailer that also involved one queer magical girl rescuing another while fighting against dark magical people, so that helps too.

A sequel to Chiro Having accepted that she is allowed to be trans and that she doesn't need to be anyone else to be a woman might come at just the right time for me.

It places Chiro at maybe a bit further along than me on the trans journey. So her exploring the next steps of what being a woman means to her might produce some incredibly powerful moments for me.
Does anyone have any webfiction recommendations in that direction?

So, uh, needs a lot of work still and no ETA just yet, but I may have dialed in and just written 4k words and finished a draft tonight.

A sequel would have to be a very different work, it's not like Chiro can learn self-acceptance twice

You just have to backslide enough and….

The sadly abandoned, and pretty depressing (in a way I quite liked) In Transit: https://www.scribblehub.com/series/378048/in-transit/

Zoe's Performative Masculinity also comes to mind: https://www.scribblehub.com/series/310228/performative-masculinity/

But it's definitely something I think is underserved, and I'd very much like the idea of taking a kinda back and forth approach to transition, zigzagging personal enlightenment and dysphoria and kinda handling a lot of that messy time between epiphany and just being relatively chill with transition and whatnot in this kind of genre.
