"I... I think I messed up, Tsun." Louise whispered as she stared up at the sky, too exhausted to move from where her familiar had set her down.
She really hadn't been in her right mind when she'd come up with the plan. So much magicka that it's tearing you apart? Just get rid of it. Making a giant explosion in the sky had seemed much safer to potentially erasing herself from existence by putting too much power into her invisibility spell.... but she'd needed a target and the moon was just sitting there. It was just a moon, it wasn't like it was important or anything.
Well, important or not, she hadn't really thought about what the stupid thing was made of. Judging by the way it turned into smaller pieces and powder, she supposed it was some kind of rock or something... probably a giant windstone if the way it had been floating in the sky was any clue. Now she could do nothing but watch as the celestial object fragmented into countless shards.
Large chunks spun off into the night sky, some grinding eachother into smaller pieces while others collected their smaller brethren to form a larger mass. Small portions and even smaller dust motes of moon-stuff began to spread out in a cloud almost immediately while the larger ones slowly grew larger. It took a while, but as she had nothing else to do or energy to do it with, she watched as the pieces drew closer.
It was beautiful in a way, the brilliant white objects spinning in their easily predictable paths while the occasional red streak would lance through the air.
'As far as last moments go... this isn't the worst.' She thought, not really wanting to die, but expecting it nonetheless. Perhaps it was just her exhaustion, but she couldn't really bring herself to care all that much. The pinkette tried not to think about what might await her, since she didn't really believe in Brimir anymore and hadn't taken much interest in her teacher's faith.
The pain in her cooked arm was too much to let her pass out, but she didn't have anything left to repair it with. She was spent and the only reason she hadn't bled to death was because the meat was burnt to the point where it couldn't bleed. The burns on her face felt worse in all honesty, but probably just because there was more left to feel the pain. Caught in a semi-lucid haze, Louise simply enjoyed the cosmic dance in the sky and ignored even the chopping noises of Brotherhood aircraft rushing past the Yangtze.
Eventually even her wounds weren't enough to keep her conscious and she slipped into peaceful oblivion.

"Someone explain what the hell just happened!" Flagg demands furiously, his voice echoing out of the building as he slams a fist down on the table amid the panicking members of his staff.
You don't bother to give the group a second look, since the fact that the moon just randomly exploded should be self evident. There hadn't been any signs or warning. One minute everything was fine and the next there was a blinding flash from the midnight sky followed by the impending rain of debris.
You'd been indulging Raymond's nervous daughter's curiosity with a few demonstrations of useless magics, the likes of which promising children are taught to prepare themselves for a lifetime of lessons. Simple flickers of light, turning drops of water solid for a moment, and harnessing static buildup to lightly shock someone from across the room; spells that are essentially cost-less yet ones that serve to test a child's willingness to learn by teaching them in the most needlessly complicated way. What your grandmother had referred to as 'distraction magic' not for its use in distracting foes, but for keeping annoying children distracted while she worked on more important things.
Since Lily had been in need of a good distraction and you'd wanted to observe how she was adapting to her new body, you'd taken her back to your lab with a promise to her father that she would be taken care of. He hadn't been too enthused to let her go so soon, but you were quick to point out that his attempts at comforting her hadn't been working and displaying her distress in front of everyone was distasteful. Neither you nor the child simulacrum had noticed that anything was wrong until she'd claimed to hear screaming, which was how you found yourself standing outside the building that housed your room with a frightened child crushing your Ebonyflesh protected hand while the Commander raged.
Already eyes were turning to you for some measure of escape from their impending doom as by now everyone, X-com and civilian alike, knew you to be the one to save them from their last world's death.
Looking to the Oblivion gate, you begin to plan out how to save the progress everyone had made in the month or so since arriving. Starting from the beginning in a new place would be sub-optimal and you hoped to avoid that as much as you can by transporting everything you'd gathered to Earth Bet. Sure the loss of structures would be a shame, but excavation and rebuilding could be done as long as you brought all of the equipment along.
Calling out with your magic for the fire-birds to do just that, you are suddenly reminded of the fact that they'd somehow refused your orders the last time you tried. You had been busy and it'd slipped your mind in the time since. As if that wasn't enough, the moment you made the attempt, one of the blasted birds erupted into existence atop the sigil tower. With a look of profound sadness not ordinarily possible for a bird, the creature burst into flames, taking the sigil stone with it and closing the portal.

A/N: So much for my vague plans to have X-com build a hub city for your adventures after you defeat the BoS and travel to a non-earth world so they can have a localized time-skip. Chalk another one up for the world killing scoreboard I guess... maybe I should change the name of the quest to something referencing Vishnu.
