I have... complicated feelings and thoughts on this whole Nothing There section. Some parts are good, some are bad. Very bad. But some parts are really great.

I'll write it up later, after a reread.

Thus the first point of your strategy comes into play. Nothing There, for all of their absurd strength, is not among the Abnormalities standing at the pinnacle. For such beings, paltry concepts like time and space are mere suggestions to be heeded or ignored as is convenient. Nothing There, as strong as they are, is not capable of such feats. Whatever reset Homura used to drag you back to Mitakihara will have actually reset Nothing There's body back to the selected point.

Ah, so that's the actual difference between Nothing There and Apocalypse Bird, not just strength, but the simple fact that A Bird can hold time.

It would be, were it not for the fact that you were given prep time.

And if there is something that distinguish great Managers from average ones, it's the ability to use prep time, to anticipate what the day will bring and change your plan accordingly.

Operating simultaneously on twenty-two agonized people in the middle of combat in the span of a few seconds while injured? Your lips are drawn into a thin line, your grim expression doing well to conceal the total agony you feel. Your nerves are on fire. Your vision blurs. Otherworldly chemicals spill into your insides. None of it matters. The first step is done.

The fact that it hurts us doesn't change the scale of what was done, this very much shows how powerful X can be when not holding back, even before removing her seal.

but apparently Nothing There's definition of "lethal injury" is not the same as your own.

I mean, it's difficult to anticipate *losing your head* not counting as a fatal injury, most people do not see it as just a flesh wound.

Distantly, you feel somebody calling for help. No, calling to help. You don't care who. If you aren't enough, then maybe they else will be.

An abnormality coming to help from inside us? An ordeal? Please, tell me it's not Madoka.

-and stares in confusion as they grasp only wisps of smoke drowned out by the rain.

Kyouko! Seems like the mark we gave her is doing it's job.

You limp through the rest of the day at Angela's encouragement, and that evening you climb onto a chair in the corner of your office and hang yourself.

The worst part is probably that Angela was probably hurting just as much, she couldn't escape via death but then again:
You wake up the next day. You didn't remember what had happened, you weren't supposed to, but staring at that corner made you feel cold.

Neither can you.

In short: Fuck you Ayin, you really have a lot to answer for, it is a good thing you opened your eyes by the end, you have a lot of work before you to correct this.

Six hundred fifty-five days since your formation. You witness something none should ever see. Describing the thing is impossible. Description requires relating traits from one thing to another, and there is nothing in the world that could possibly be compared to the thing you saw. Your mind shatters in an instant.

The moment marks your seventy-second death.

If the censor hiding its form malfunction for just a moment, we'll have to think of getting a new manager.

There is no place for you in the world outside. This is an acceptable outcome. Because there will be an outside, and it will be a kinder world than this hell you rule. Not a heaven, certainly, but you'd never trust anyone promising to deliver paradise.

Ouch, X truly is broken at this point, unable to even see a future for themselves.

You think it would be nice to have a family. Maybe they would hold a funeral for you one day.

X! There are other things to live for than your own funeral! By god we are going to make it so that you can see it.

LOVE/IMPOSTER/PURSUIT

Love given by our daughters, Impostor given by X's mental state, Pursuit given by X tries to make a better tomorrow.

There it is. There will be another chapter to sum up the conclusion of this Arc, followed by the final Sidestory to give a hint at what's coming next. After that, we will be going on a short hiatus.

I would like to thank each and every person who has been with this story, either since the beginning or only recently. I would never have gotten this far without your support.

Thank you for writing this story, it is a great one.

Wonder how much it affected NT?

I think it was targeted only at X and NT.

It seems like it.

...
A/X/B/C
if the price of silence are a pinnacle of black damage(literally instant kill your agents if you mess with time)
Then the pinnacles will be looking like that.
Although mainly representing the head, a bird can also be seen as All the 3 A falling into ruthlessness and immoral simply because they lost their way.
X is us, B is the price of silence, and C is the whitenight.

...eh.
If feels fitting as it makes the pinnacles the representation of the 4 most important character to lobotomy corporation.
War, Apocalypse and Ayins pride.
Conquest, The Daughter and her facility.
Pestilence, The keeper of time dwelling on a past that will never return.
Death, For the Armageddon of this God will not bring a new paradise, but the Death of All that is you.

Are the "diary" segments in order of day count, Lepidoptera?
You spot your Nothing There
a second organist against
vanish into the nothingness
clench your first fist

and let others die for a world that would not need
It can handle hardly be called

Honestly, you should look through all the X number of days segment again
Six hundred and fifty-five days
nine hundred seven thousand, and eighty two eight-two
eight hundred and sixty four days
doesn't feel like talking, then she'll have a good reason not to.

Not sure what to say for this update here ngl

I personally feel that I'd enjoy Day 7 more if the (voteless) updates were consolidated into, like, three or four times their length. Reading the small snippets as they came in is probably a very different experience from doing it all at once.

IMO the breakpoints are fine; I'd rather not make the QM write a 10k word update unless they really can handle it or if they think it's truly necessary

I can understand it if you kinda feel like the Nothing There section got stretched out a bit...much. As you said. Condensing the non-vote parts would've made the story much more coherent.

The story parts from 6.9-6.10 could've been condensed into a 4.1k update for example.

A bit of deviation from the norm, as Nothing There's fight stretched from 5.9 to 6.15.

It's the single "longest" enemy encounter of the story so far.

Personally, though, I think it fits. Nothing There is literally the last 'boss' of Arc 1.

Pretty sure making the days difficult to keep track of is the goal, the number days didn't matter to X, after all, only how close to the goal they were.
Could be, could be not.

It does make it quite confusing to read, as X's mindset would go from current X to past X, to close to current X again and you can't really rely on the days to keep an easier track.

NT LOVEs* humanity, but knows it is an IMPOSTER, so it acts in PURSUIT of truly becoming so (this choice of concepts also implies it'll never succeed, since I doubt we can alter this base)

You have reports to file and announcements to write, especially with the new Aleph being so clingy
Ten guesses which Aleph this is, first nine don't count

People don't change. Not in a steady, healthy way, at the very least
They do, but it's not guaranteed, and certainly is unlikely to occur in the environment/timescale of the Facility.

Abnormalities cannot break, because they are already broken
Abnormalities do not die because they do not live
Can I just say that this is an truly excellent line?

You can only help them learn
Overall, this part is X trying to get around the limitation of Lobotomy wrt to Abnormalities (and also only being willing to brute force things because Abnormality), and maybe she did succeed? We'll know soon, or on our next trip to the Library.

"Heh." Nothing There chuckles as their body begins to dissolve into gleaming motes. It's a maliceless sound, so unlike the predatory tone you've come to expect. "I guess even you can't be right about everything."
Seems like it did, at least a little. (Also, the chapter title)

Looking at the memories X selectively shoved into NT's self and trying to find the intended message; the suffering of existence, but also how to make the most out of it anyway.
Matching the Sephirah mentioned to their corresponding Virtues doesn't really seem like something NT needs, though?

Only a towering tree of Light remains, the remaining Soul Gems nestled in its roots,
Is this related to NT or is this related to Soul Gems?

Man, there's still a lot to mine through regarding X in this update...

And thus NT was defeated. Hopefully there's ways to access the library that doesn't involve Homura's time magic, but that was a wonderful demonstration of what preparation time can do.

Also, Kyoko for MVP.

That's another problem.

Because DoSaM clearly remembers things X doesn't.

So all of X's memories could easily fit into some of DoSaM's memories.
