A basically 8k threat. Isn't it the biggest thread of sufficient velocity now that I think about it?
It is not.

Unless I've missed something it's:

1.) DragonParadox's Sword Without a Hilt at 17.7k
2.) Boney's Divided Loyalties at 14.9k
3.) eaglejarl's Marked For Death at 9.6k

Word Count Wise you have:

1.) SWH again at 5.1m
2.) MFD at 3m
3.) Torroar's Dynasty of Dynamic Alcoholism at 2.7m

And because I am biased:

4.) OneirosTheWriter's To Boldy Go at 2.4m

This seems like a plan I can get behind. Though I have to ask, are we sure sending Homura is the best idea against Judgement Bird? It might not be Apocalypse Bird, but IIRC, Apocalypse Bird's temporal manipulation originated from the Long Arms Egg.

It is indeed a risk, however, I believe that's exclusively for Apocalypse Bird whose abilities are substantially more powerful than all three bird on their own.

So even if J-Bird can interfere with time shenanigans, it's unlikely to be the Authority of a Bird who isn't blind.

I must clarify, Homura cannot use time-stop or other wide-range time manipulation while in the Emerald City until all four markers have been destroyed. So whether Judgement Bird can cancel timestop is completely irrelevant.

After 100 years, I've FINALLY gotten my email account working again, so I can stop lurking. (I've been here since roughly the NT fight.)
But it seems that questioningmeme's plan is going to win, so unless anyone has better ideas:
[X] Smash and Grab
Edit: Now that we know the resistances, it would probably be a good idea to reasses our placement of the MG's.
I'm going with Nyarky's plan:
[x] Plan: Run in little circles.

Even after Kyoko's question I'm not sure how we will be able to deal with the Adult herself once the 4 markers are down. She clearly had a personal spell that could nullify Homura's abilities, so unless it must be prepared in advance or can only be activated in close proximity, we would run into the same problem as the last encounter. If the issue is proximity then I'm guessing the idea is to use citywide time stop as soon as the markers are down?

Not having access to time stop will complicate matters with J Bird. I don't think blitzing it is an option anymore with this headcount and no time stop. We must consider who can endure pale attacks the best. In Lobotomy Corp an unarmored human is fatally vulnerable to soul damage, what about magical girls who have their vitality concentrated in a single gem? Distortions have a better chance of being resistant I feel, as they are closer to abnormalities (though most abnormalities are weak to pale still, the only entities resistant to it have been abnormalities). From this angle, we would either take a team of Homura/Kyoko, Argalia/Leonie, or X alone to J Bird.

Or is it a more metaphorical issue, that people who have more total sins tallied will be more vulnerable? I don't think guilt plays into it as it does for Silent Girl. J Bird's philosophy would likely be that the scales are what determine guilt, and all are guilty under the scales. Being time travelers, X and Homura have much longer rap sheets than the others. In that case I would suggest a Mami/Kyoko duo.

so unless it must be prepared in advance

The Adult did have to dedicate time to preparing it during the fight, and we know that now, so we can actually do things to interrupt that spell.

We absolutely do not want both Homura and Kyouko together on one objective against none of the magical girls, because the enemy wasn't able to train against them and not using that is a waste.

We know our ennemies have used their doppelganger's training to learn the way of fighting of Mami and Sayaka, we really do not want them together too, for the same reason.

And really, my thoughts on J.Bird havent changed, we do not want to try and fight him, optimizing for that isn't the best idea, we want to avoid him, both Mami and Homura are veterans that can move fast inside his territory, which, by the way, low numbers help in begin stealthy, not make it harder.

- 2.0x Pale (Fatal)

Argalia (Distorted)
- 0.8x Red (Endured)
- 0.2x White (Ineffective)
- 0.6x Black (Endured)
- 1.0x Pale (Neutral)

Isabeau de Bavière (Crepuscule de la Reine)

As stated, don't count on whoever goes into the forest avoiding Judgement Bird. Narrative demands for conflict aside, Judgement isn't really something you can dodge and whoever enters will probably end up in range before they see the bird.

Resistances for everybody goes about as follows:

Hmm, that really makes me think we should send X alone for Birb there.

Only one that can survive a mistake.

No resistances for Leonie?

Because this and your next post really makes it important for the idea it gave me.

Avoid as in, *flee on sight and don't fight*, not as in *don't be seen at all* still leads to the same result when it comes to who is fast or not amongst our girls.

But with the new information, I now want to send X with Leonie, actually blitz the bird and go back to help the girls as fast as possible... let me just:

[x] Plan: Run in little circles.
-[x] The Rumor Mill
--[x] Argalia
-[x] The Observation tower
--[x] Sayaka, Kyoko
-[x] The Wizard's court
--[x] Mami, Homura
-[x] The Black Forest
--[x] X, Leonie

Sayaka with Kyoko to have Kyoko protect Sayaka.

Mami with Homura to have Mami protect Homura while she more vulnerable than normal, and to have both our strongest girls on this particular objective.

X with Leonie so X can go, blitz the Birb, and help as fast as possible.

Argalia can survive alone, no need to have anyone with him.

-[x] The Observation tower
--[x] Sayaka, Kyoko
-[x] The Wizard's court
--[x] Mami, Homura
-[x] The Black Forest
--[x] X, Leonie
This plan isn't good on the account that Argalia is having to go solo here and the fact that Mami and Homura have to fight in the Court where their power sets have the most chances to be countered.

Argalia might be 'disposable' but we want him to succeed here too. If you want to get X to the Black Forest, send her alone. X can't really go back to the girls either what with the objective requiring destruction at the same time.

It's a waste to have both X and Leonia go to the black forest.

Resistances for everybody goes about as follows:

Sayaka Miki/Mami Tomoe (Magical Girl)
- 0.6x Red (Endured)

Homura Akemi (Wind-Up Soldier)
- 0.6x Red (Endured)
- 0.6x White (Endured)
- 0.2x Black (Ineffective)
- 1.5x Pale (Weak)

Leonie McKinnley (Aimless Compass)
- 0.0x Red (Immune)
- 2.0x White (Fatal)
- 0.0x Black (Immune)
- 0.0x Pale (Immune)

Argalia (Distorted)
- 0.8x Red (Endured)
- 0.2x White (Ineffective)
- 0.6x Black (Endured)
- 1.0x Pale (Neutral)

X (Enclosed Chrysalis)
- 0.2x Red (Resisted)
- 0.0x White (Immune)
- 0.4x Black (Resisted)
- 0.8x Pale (Endured)
Wait where's Mami?

All Magical Girls have the same resistances, barring unique Magic abilities. Sayaka and Mami are listed in the same spot.
Ah, I see them. Dumb me I suppose.

I don't think there's much needed to change in my plans.

But perhaps some tweaks would be needed.

[] Smash and Grab v2
-[X] The Rumor Mill
--[X] Homura, Mami, Leonie
-[X] The Observation Tower
--[X] Kyoko, Sayaka
-[X] The Wizard's Court
--[X] Argalia (Maybe give Argalia some buffs if possible)
-[X] The Black Forest

--[X] X

The Wizard Court is going to be mainly traps, so Argalia wouldn't need Leonia for mobility there beside him having exceptional skills at dealing with shenanigans due to his experience in the City aka "He's a Color", X doesn't need to worry about the Bird's damage to her at all on account of being an Abnormality (even an incomplete one). We would need to send 2 Distortions in her place so this would be a gain in distribution.

Homura, Mami, and Leonia should be a stacked enough deck for all 3 of them to not struggle much against the large forces there at the Mill given that most of them are out in the Emerald City.

Ah by the way @Lepidoptera, we'll get a full spreadsheet of tactics on how to counter the Ensemble from Angela and Argalia right? So the girls aren't unprepared.

There's definitely a lot of minute details and other plans being laid out, but going into them too deeply would really kill the pacing. Assume that everyone's going in with all the information you have at this moment and probably some extra stuff you don't.

Yeah, that definitely made me more confident in letting the girls go as they are.

X and Argalia should go and deal with specifically Abnormality wacky stuff, due to their experience in those problems (Argalia getting shat on by the Library and X probably having a mental breakdown the first time she had to deal with Judgement Bird's insane Pale dmg).

But thinking it through I think I'll change things a bit.

[X] Smash and Grab v3
-[X] The Rumor Mill
--[X] Homura, Mami
-[X] The Observation Tower
--[X] Kyoko, Sayaka
-[X] The Wizard's Court
--[X] X
-[X] The Black Forest
--[X] Argalia, Leonia

It's probably safe to assume you'll be greeted with every single type of pain the Adult can pull out in the Court, so I'll go back to having X deal with that. She has better resistance so any mistakes she makes would be far less detrimental alongside the various explanations I gave before about why she's the best choice for the Court.

Both Argalia and Leonia would be better spent fighting JBird, given the information Homura and Mami will be aware of about the Ensemble, outside of Pluto showing up with a near complete mental state, they shouldn't struggle with the Mill at all given how strong both of them are at killing and subduing magical girls.

Kyoko and Sayaka should be fine.
