For me, I was under the impression it would be a sufficient distraction from the existential side of things, something that was clearly mistaken

Aside from increased pain tolerance, soul gems don't do enough to mitigate the weaknesses of the flesh anyway. If the body suffers normally lethal damage, it'll probably still incapacitate (at least temporarily) the magical girl and leave the soul gem at the mercy of an attacker. Dismemberment in the field is as crippling as ever unless there's a dedicated healer on hand. Even if you fully master the lich nature, the 100 meter limit puts a serious damper on the greatest benefit, taking yourself out of the danger zone. Finally, all magical girl costumes are apparently bound by some cosmic law to put the soul gem in a place that can be shot at.

It really isn't since they are supposed to actually be great at learning, but have no imagination, it's a mess of contradiction on what the Cycle is for...

Also, having Sayaka be asleep for the lichbomb so that we can take it with her alone may actually help, since she is the girl that takes it the worst amongst all of them.
 
Just think of it like this: Sayaka, asleep next to us, like a young child with her mother, and we are explaining the lichbomb, with Yuma asking if she can take her place. Isn't that a pretty good image?
 
I think you're overthinking things. QM shows that cares much more about the spirit of the vote than the form of the vote. In addition, we know that X can simply ignore parts of the vote if they don't make sense in the situation, or include fragments from the option that didn't win if they don't contradict the mainstream.

My vote comes from the thought that X better not say things to Mami and Sayaka like "your souls have been ripped out of your body, you probably can't even be called human anymore." I feel that it will be much easier for them to accept this, considering it as part of their own Magical Girl's powers. However, X is not a mindless drone, and if she finds it doesn't work, she will take a different approach.

As for Sayaka... It's just pointless cruel not to tell her about the side effects. It might even undermine her trust in us. Besides, what if she had things to do after that meeting?

This is wrong on so many levels.

First, as has already been said, the arguments against doing it right now don't have much to do with Sayaka's consent or lack of it.

Second, exactly how is it supposed to be a "lesson" if she wants to do it in the first place? As far as Sayaka's concerned, this is okay because she has nothing to hide, or at least isn't supposed to. She doesn't care, or doesn't want to care, about the invasion of privacy, so how is it supposed to be her "punishment" for being rash?

(Also, you can't just reduce these things to a simplistic descriptor of "putting up a brave front and burying insecurities" like that. Note that e.g. Homura has these tendencies too, and yet she has conspicuously made the opposite of Sayaka's choice in this very update.)

Third, even if we disregard all of the above, this is a plainly malicious way to teach someone a lesson. Sort of like a petty bureaucrat handing a confusing document with fine print to someone and then saying "well, it's your fault for signing this, maybe next time you'll be more careful, haha!". Instead of, you know, explaining things in good faith in the first place.

I'm somewhat upset by the way the vote went, if that wasn't clear enough.

Well too bad.

It'd help if you view it from the point of a mom showcasing her daughter's embarrassing memories in front of her friends and future girlfriend instead of stubbornly latching onto the current situation being a Patient-Doctor relationship.

I will admit that it is malicious, but I don't really think it's as important as you think it is.

If one of the girls present is an asshole, or a lot of them are assholes, sure. But none of them are. No one present would judge Sayaka for it either.

At most, Sayaka will endure some teasing from Kyoko, at least everyone will forget about it after the Adult and Nothing There turns Kamihami city into a crater.
