I'm concerned about the general population's reaction to the governments of the world that had at least some sort of connection to magic and kept it a secret, like England and clock tower. When, and I really doubt that can stay hidden, that gets out I see protests/riots in the streets, demands that their leaders step down, and worst case possible coup attempts and even civil wars on the one's who lied to them.
Eh, I think coups, even in worst case scenario are a little extreme. It's a pretty big lie, yes, but it's not a world ending lie (unless you count the Daemons.). Nothing a bit of political reassurance can't fix.
Really, I expect the Power-Players to make some moves soon.
Major problem here is going to be places that don't know about magic like America trying to 'catch up' by demanding people to teach some of their soldiers magic under the threat of war, Or black-ops attempting to round up some of the independent magical groups for
constitutional interrogation. This will cause problems because if they get a game changer like that, they might try to expand.
Other problems include cultists, dark mages, conspiracy theorists, the Illuminati, and enthusiastic wannabe mages that might damage things while they learn, all of which need to be dealt with. And wow, Never thought I would use those words in the same sentence seriously.
Another relevant problem is that since Gaia released the Limiters, expect Magical Girls to be awakening for the final battle. In fact, WW3 might be a way for Gaia to undirectly awaken magical girls. It makes sense.
there'll be different armies to deal with and then that might not be so cut and dry...
In my opinion, I expect the battle lines to be like this;
- Faction 1) Magical Faction/Commonwealths.
- Britain, France, most of magical Europe, and the independent mage groups.
- I expect these factions to try to keep order around by exerting their influence. They are the main magical power-players around here, and they all have a powerful military to boot.
- This, due to having Britain, includes the Commonwealths.
- Faction 2) NATO.
- Pretty much an alliance of the European nations that aren't magically aligned. Faction 1 will most likely be allied with this faction.
- They would probably try to corral the expansionist factions.
- Faction 3) Warsaw Pact.
- Eastern Warsaw Pact nations.
- Most likely would try to use magic, if they don't know about it already, to try to settle age old greed for Europe. Expect the USSR to come back to try to compete against NATO and America.
- Faction 4) America.
- America, trying to catch up with Faction 1, would probably attempt to try to use their position as a superpower, or at least a candidate as one, to try to make everyone listen to them, and when they don't, declare themselves as new faction and try to take on the world to gain magical powers. Expecting them to shut down their neutrality (they probably will be) until most of the previous factions have obviously fought themselves out. After that I expect them to try to come in, clean up, and try to win the war by themselves.
- Expect faction 4 to be a pain in the ass, as they will probably try every underhanded method to get a mage in the interrogation room, or worse, on the operating table, the simple reason being that they want mages on their team, or if not, artificial mages. Also, expect them to come after us and our MG team.
- Faction 5) Small nation Alliance.
- What do I mean by this? I mean that since there is a modern World War going on, I expect places like Africa, South America, and south-east Asia to form a strong alliance to try to defend themselves from being annexed by the greater powers.
- This faction will generally try to stay alive.
- 'Faction' 6) Religious Factions.
- Some of these factions will either consider magic a gift of their gods or a sin. This is a problem, as they might start a religious crusade of some sorts.
- Due to cultists being somewhat a religion, they fall under this 'faction' as well.
- Faction 7) Under-the-Table Factions.
- Illuminati, New World Order, CORE, You name it. These spooks are probably going to try to steal or exploit high-value value players from all factions.
- Expecting them to be a nuisance trying to do what they usually do.
- And last but not least, Other factions)
- Rebels, Terrorists, pretty much everyone else.
- Goals depend on what they are.
I still don't know what to vote for, they all sound a tad cliche and too philosophical.
Eh, I think our decision here won't make much of an impact other than making Karen and others see more of our personality. We aren't much of a commander but more Spec-Ops Soldier. If we get our official MG team though...
