You chose to be Fresh Meat. While you start with literally nothing but the clothes on your back and the taste of that one random passers-bys intestines in your mouth, you've always been known to learn new things quickly.

You chose The Light Shines. The date is April 4th, 2000 and despite everything, the world seems to be finally pulling itself together.

A stock market crash was thinly avoided by pure luck. (71 Dice + 15 The Light Shines = 86)

Canada and Australia chose to rejoin the Commonwealth proper and secured much greater trading rights with it's neighbours in exchange for the vast swathes of empty space they own. (61 Dice + 15 The Light Shines = 76)

Several rising terrorist group in the middle east fell apart when their leaders were discovered to being backed by a powerful banking group from China, though this caused massive backlash and the collapse of the Chinese economy, to deal with this the Government abandoned large amounts of less valuable land to consolidate and has left hundreds of millions of people to starve and fight amongst each other. (27 Dice + 15 The Light Shines = 42)

Ethiopia and Kenya signed an alliance and then declare war on Somalia the next day. They have declared that they are going to bring peace to their beloved war-torn Africa. (67 Dice + 15 The Light Shines + 5 Foreign Help ??? = 88)

You chose Early in the Timeline. You are there at the very beginning, among the very first. So watch, watch as the light shines under the aegis of the sun.
Now, LET US BEGIN

You're caught off guard when the three people to your left suddenly find themselves spread across a good portion of the street, a whip-crack leaving your ears ringing as something passes you so quickly that the shockwave nearly throws you from your feet. Scrambling to keep your balance, you throw yourself away from the explosion and towards the nearest cover, that being the base of a large brick monument. When your back hits the wall there's a wet squelching sound and you slide slightly for reasons that you refuse to contemplate right now, desperately trying to figure out what the fuck was going on over the screaming.

Taking several panicked breaths, you can't help but notice the stench of blood that's coating you, the coppery smell makes your face scrunch as you peer around the corner and desperately scan the street. After a second or two of searching you see it. It's enormous, easily tall enough to reach into the second story of a building and extremely bulky. You stare at it in incomprehension for a second, before seeing the reason it's standing still; there's a woman trapped under its foot, and now you know where the ear piercing scream is coming from.

With a flash of motion, the thing moves far faster than anything of its size has any right to and pushes its weight down on its foot, enormous arm reaching down and closing around her entire torso. She struggles briefly, before its arm pulls back with a sickening snapping noise and tears her in two. She doesn't stop screaming as it lifts her above its head, voice finally cutting out as the hand squeezes, little pieces flowing down from its hand and across its face, jagged mouth twisting into a grin, lips wet with with blood.

It feels like you're frozen in time as you stare. The flames around it burn gleefully, the overwhelming smell of copper drowning out everything else, its twisted and impossible bulk dripping with blood and ichor. Then you blink and it's suddenly looking right at me. you react instantly, throwing yourself back behind your little section of wall.

It's only your quick reflexes that save you from being eviscerated, as a second later a gigantic fist plows through your cover, barely passing over your head. Over the deafening sound of stone shattering, you hear a roar of excitement that makes every hair on your body stand on end. Frantically kicking off of the pile brick that was your cover, you throw yourself forwards as quickly as possible, just barely avoiding the foot that crushes where you stood, a spray of shattered concrete peppering your back.

You don't look back, you don't think, you just run, as fast and hard as you can. Across the street, you see a pair of glass doors that you don't hesitate to run straight though. The door shatters, jagged glass cutting deep gouges into your skin everywhere it touches. The pain doesn't leave you screaming only because you are busy panting as deeply as you can, shoes gripping on the rough tile as you sprint down the main entrance of the town's Mall.

You look around as you sprint, seeing people standing still, staring behind you dumbfounded. You put your head down and run faster. There's an enormous boom followed by what seems like every piece of glass in the mall shattering. Your foot catches on a shard and you slide for a moment, quickly putting your weight down and shattering it before you fall. As you rush past the people surrounding you, you remember an old quote you heard once; "You don't need to outrun your enemy, only the people around you."

An idea comes to you as you reach a corner. Reaching out as you run past, you throw your bloody fist straight though the glass of the silent robbery alarm, grabbing the straps of your backpack as it catches on something and pulling it back onto your shoulders. Just as you straighten the straps, you hear the screaming start again. Resolutely keeping yourself facing forwards, you desperately rush towards a location that the frequent signs guide you to, the Military recruiting station.

'They have should some way to contact someone for help or fucking something.' is the prevailing thought now, not the echoes of the screams from around the corner, not the deafening laugh of the thing, you focus completely on step after step, the burning in your legs moving to focus you.

When you reach the doors, you see several people in military uniforms just starting to open the doors, pistols raised and pointed in your direction. You see their eyes widen when they see you, covered in blood and making a desperate dash towards them. One of the men with bars on his shoulders shouts something and they start moving towards you, guns aimed past you. Your blood slicked shoes slide as you skid to slow down, the officer catching you as gently as he can and starts looking at your injuries while glancing over your shoulder.

You feel him trying to pull you back towards the recruitment centre and shake your head wildly. "WE'RE UNDER ATTACK, YOU NEED TO CALL THE ARMY HERE RIGHT NOW!"

Your voice, breaking halfway through, is more than enough to stop his examination, when he looks up he sees something behind you and freezes. You look at his face and gasp, mirrored in his aviators an enormous bloody hand is gripping the side of the corner you'd just burst around, you can see the moment understanding dawns on him as his mouth opens wide. "OPEN FIRE!" Immediately, something booms and you flinch, strong arms pulling you towards the recruitment centre. Quickly glancing back, you can see it start to clear the corner, a hand carrying a body that is so ravaged you can't identify any particular features beyond clothed and bloody.

Another boom tears at your ears as a soldier begins firing, shortly followed by a deafening symphony as the rest do the same. The noise is so loud it ruins your balance, only kept upright by the officers steady grip, you manage to stumble inside the building. An unearthly screech echoes out from behind you as a shot from one of the soldiers hits something important, a sickening thump overtaking the gunfire as it throws the body at the closest man.

You force your eyes away, dodging around chairs as you sprint towards the desk, the officer letting go of you and tearing a thick radio from the desk. A few seconds pass and the radio screeches to life. "To all units, this is Recruitment Centre 4, the mall is under attack by an unknown assailant, some sort of creature. It's fucking huge and the ordnance we have on hand is ineffective, we need backup right now!"

He starts repeating his message and you look around, trying to find a weapon or anything when a soldier shoves his way through a door in the back, rife in his arms and a shout at his lips. Armoury. Rushing towards the open door, you shoulder it open, almost stopping to gape before common sense prevails. Lining the walls are gun racks, boxes of ammunition and crates upon crates. Despite being literally dumbfounded by what you are sure is an extremely illegal amount of weaponry, you rush forwards and grab the first thing that falls into your hands, some sort of rifle that's all black with smooth lines, and run over to the ammunition boxes.

You have a rough idea of what sort of bullets go in a rifle, so you ignore the shotgun rounds and the dinky little pistol rounds, grabbing a magazine that looks about right and jam it into the weapon, nearly dropping it as the building suddenly shakes. A glass panel shatters as the thing roars again, a following human scream just barely audible over the muffled sounds of gunfire. Cursing quietly you grab several more of the same looking magazines, pull your bag off your back and throw them into it, shoving the lid off a crate with your other hand. Little balls, grenades? You don't bother looking at them, just grabbing as many as you can and shovelling them all into your bag before you are interrupted by a shout from the Officer at the door. "Give me a gun!"

You panic for a second, quickly turning and grabbing the closest one, remembering to grab a few magazines as you run over to him. He takes them without hesitation, grabbing one of the magazines from your hands and sliding it into his gun. You follow him back into the room, coughing as a tremor sends a plume of dust and debris falling from the ceiling. A harsh gust of air makes you look up and oh god it'slookingatme. Before you have the chance to do anything, the officer pushes you back, a bloody arm tearing the hole in the roof wider, a falling panel missing you while the officer shouts as a twisted chunk of rebar pierces through his shoulder.

Quickly reaching into your bag, you grab the first thing that your hand touches, pulling the pin and throwing it at the thing without even looking away from its remaining eye, the other dripping gore down its face. It follows the little shape you threw at it as you slam your eyes shut and hope desperately that you didn't just kill yourself. A deafening bag lets you know it was a flashbang, the flash visible even through your closed eyes.

Stumbling as your ears ring, the officer again grabs you and pulls you out of the centre. Looking through bleary eyes, you see the thing flailing wildly, and a thick puddle of blood running from the mangled pieces of the soldiers. Suppressing your gag reflex, you turn your attention to the gun you're still carrying in your hands. You have no idea what it is but you kind of know how to use one, confusedly turning it over in your hands as you follow the officer's blurry form.

His mouth moves, but you don't hear anything but a persistent ringing. He makes a face and reaches forwards, doing something to your ear, your hearing just barely returning as he pulls his hand back. "Right side, near the back, pull back the lever then it's ready to fire. Safety is by the trigger." You blink at him, taking in his words as a klaxon quietly wails nearby, slowly growing louder as your hearing returns.

Right, thank you officer person. You pull back the lever like he said and fumble with the safety for a moment before it clicks to semi-auto. You have no-confidence in your firearm skills, you were barely competent with a pistol, best not to throw off your aim by spraying everywhere. By this point, roughly six or seven seconds have passed and as you move past the enormous thing it suddenly stops convulsing and spins, arm snapping out faster than you can react, grabbing the officer and squeezing with a crushing grip until he literally explodes in your face.

By this point of the day, you are well and truly angry, angry in way you haven't felt since the time someone tried to abduct your sister. You've been chased by this fucking thing with sickening amusement, watched as the people around you were shredded into paste underfoot, everyone you've tried to help has died horrifically and it's fucking looking at you like that-

Hot, you feel hot, like there's a fire in your chest and it's going to burn you from the inside. Your breath comes in a pant of steam and a small haze of heat, the heat growing stronger and stronger and strongerstrongerstronger

Your skin ignites, the fire in your chest pushing out and blazing a path through your body out of your skin deeper than you knew existed and you just want the fucking thing to DIE SCREAMING

"I AM THE BEGINNING, I AM THE END! MAGICAL GIRL IGNITION KNIGHT!"

The fire that was within burns hotter and hotter, incinerating your clothes and the filth that lying on your skin, bathing you in an aura of fire that blazed brightly. A moment later, you feel and see black, skintight armour forming from the flames around you.

(Ignition Knight: +30 Ignition Aura, +6 Dice = 36 Total Damage
Demon of Due: +100 Base Resilience, - 60 Gaping Wounds, +8 Dice = 48 Total Damage Reduction

Demon of Due Health: 1146 - 0 = 1146)

You have an entire second to bask in this new feeling of power before a roar tears at your ears, a giant fist swinging through your flames as if they aren't there.

(Demon of Due: +150 Base Damage, -75 Partially Blinded, -50 Cant see you, +3 Dice = 28 Total Damage
Ignition Knight: +13 Base Resilience, -5 Surprise, +4 Dice = 12 Total Damage Reduction

Ignition Knight Health: 100 - 16 = 85)

You have the barest chance to see its fist blazing with fire Aura before you are thrown down the mall, body landing on a mangled corpse and skidding several meters, then everything near you bursts into flames as your Aura indiscriminately sets everything on fire.

(Ignition Knight: 97)

You quickly roll off of the pile of flaming gore and spin to you feet, managing to avoid the fist that plows into where you were lying moments before, your ribs scream in pain from the glancing blow as you punch the fucker in the leg, being able to see past the flames that blaze off of you perfectly well.

(Ignition Knight: +10 Base Damage, +30 Ignition Aura, + 8 Dice = 48 Total Damage
Demon of Due: + 100 Base Resilience, - 60 Gaping Wounds, - 10 ON FIRE, +12 Dice = 42 Total Damage Reduction

Demon of Due Health: 1145 - 6 = 1139)

Your fist hits it in the side of the knee, your entire weight behind it. With a jarring thud, your attack connects solidly, and does absolutely nothing. Not even a scratch. You frantically jump back as it screams in pain from burning, gasping as you slip on the bloody floor, cutting your face on a pile of shattered glass that is lying around and on fire.

(Glass: +10 Sharp = 10 Total Damage
Ignition Knight: +13 Base Resilience, - 10 Landed On Your Face, +2 Dice = 5 Total Damage Reduction

Ignition Knight Health: 85 - 5 = 80)

Rolling to your feet as quickly as you can, you hiss as blood runs from numerous little cuts that burn all over your head. Turning to see the thing, it seems to have just started recovering from being on fire and is a little hesitant to get close to you again in case you make the lingering flames flickering across it's body grow larger. This hesitance lasts exactly long enough for you to stand up and start running towards the nearest cover, massive hands grabbing a still burning bench by its foot and throwing it at you.

(Demon of Due: 23)

The bench flies straight past you without even coming close, letting you expand the gap between the two of you as far as you can. A sudden thought comes to mind as you run, spinning around you start running backwards, with the gun still in your other hand you start shooting at it.

(Ignition Knight: +100 Base Damage, +25 Semi-Auto, +9 Dice = 134 Total Damage
Demon of Due: +100 Base Resilience, - 60 Gaping Wounds, -10 ON FIRE, +7 Dice = 37 Total Damage Reduction

Demon of Due Health: 1139 - 97 = 1042)

You shakily take the time to aim in between each shot instead of spraying like a lunatic and manage to land several good hits, one of them burrows into the already destroyed eye and others pepper spots that have horrible burn wounds, making the beast flinch before it lets out a bellow of rage. Hearing the roar makes you cringe and turn to run, only for your bag to get hooked on a jagged sign and torn off of you back, before you have the chance to react your Aura starts to effect it and it bursts into flames.

Oh hey, isn't that filled with grenades...

(Ignition Knight: 54 Dice)

You drop your gun and put everything you have into running, ignoring the crunching noise behind you as the thing charges after you faster and faster, pushing your all to get away from literal bomb at your feet.

(Demon of Due: 79 Dice)

It notices what you are doing and its eye flicks down, looking at the burning pack it just passed over. A toothy smile splits it's mouth and with a quick swipe it grabs the pack, and throwing it at you as hard as it can.

(56 Dice)

You dive to the ground, sliding behind the bench that was thrown at you earlier as the bag catches on a fake palm tree, snapping to a stop before exploding halfway between the two of you.

(Shrapnel: +100 = 100 Total Damage
Ignition Knight: +13 Base Resilience, +25 Under flimsy cover, +5 Dice = 43 Total Damage Reduction

Ignition Knight Health: 80 - 57 = 14)

The jagged flying pieces of metal tear through your cover as if it wasn't there, pain shooting up your spine as they shred through your legs and back, your head barely hidden by the metal arms of the bench.

(Shrapnel: +100, +400 Very large target = 500 Total Damage
Demon of Due: +100 Base Resilience, - 60 Gaping Wounds, -10 ON FIRE = 30 Total Damage Reduction

Demon of Due Health: 1042 - 470 = 572)

Behind you, the much, much larger target that is the demon has its roar of rage cut short as a fusillade of metal files through its everything.

A brief moment of silence falls over the mall as your wounds settle in. That silence is promptly broken by you screaming at the top of your lungs as the pain finally hits you. You struggle to your feet with tears in your eyes, barely holding the strength to stand as the fucker falls onto its back, black blood spraying everywhere.

You manage to hobble close enough that it bursts into flames again, only this time its so completely exhausted and chewed up that it can't do anything but lay there and burn to death. It takes a long time, much longer than you thought it would, after a good two or three minutes the fucking thing finally stops screaming, though you don't know if that's because it's finally dead or if it has simply lost the capacity to scream.

With a flop, you fall down onto your back, head listing to the side as you feel blood leaking through the dozens of little holes in you. While you lay there, you wonder would would happen to your sister now that you are going to die, before the sudden though occurs to you.

Is Una ok? Shit, fuck fuck fuck, you need to get up. She's probably still at home, I've been gone less than an hour... But I'm really not in the shape to be going anywhere, fuuuuck.

You guys had some amazingly lucky rolls this chapter, like holy crap. You should have died more than once. You got an amazingly lucky Nat 100 on the soldiers first engagement with it so the Demon of Due was blinded and held up long enough for you to grab all the shit you needed, if you hadn't the armory probably would have been your grave. And a 98 when you were trapped in the recruitment center with it, a fucking 98! It's literally the only reason you escaped the recruitment center at all. And when you fought it you got a 97 when it hit you, so it didn't just pulp you. A fucking 95 when you hit it, what is this shit?
Praise be to the Random Number Gods, for they giveth and they taketh.
And no, MC-Chans sister is not Uni, I used a random name gen and that's what came up.
Aww...

Also:
Typo then?

You guys had some amazingly lucky rolls this chapter, like holy crap.

As per standard procedure. Everything works as intended.
...
Joking aside, I find myself getting lucky in this kind of situation rather often; that might be related.

Either way, I like this. I like it a lot. The fact that we managed to kill our opponent by ourselves is something I am surprised by... but that is fine.
More EXP for us.

"I AM THE BEGINNING, I AM THE END! MAGICAL GIRL IGNITION KNIGHT!"

Interesting. I like how foreboding our transformation phrase is, as well as our name and especially our element.
It almost makes up for the lack of Blessed Napalm. Almost

However, one thing I would like to mention right now: while I do not mind dying a few times, you should not overdo it; especially in a situation we had no power over. Or would a death automatically give us a break in the chapter to choose another course of action from there?

Either way, concerned sister is go.

Not a fan of swearwords, but they do fit the moment.

Edit: Just by the way, I have been waiting for this all day. And I was not disappointed.

Then we die from bleeding out.

Might I recommend some bandages.

Also we can just call- *remembers it's 2K* -Nevermind. Cellphones really only became prevalent a couple years later I think.

[X] Right, bleeding. Bandages, or cloth stripes you can tie up, are probably a thing you should do.

But nope, the Dice decided that it was ded as fuck.

I've been writing this for the last like... 7 Hours. In one go. I should go get food

It would fit that we are in shock right now, thinking first this before realising that getting patched up beforehand might be a good idea. A rollercoaster of emotions, or something like that.
Does this make any sense?

*Shrug* Sure.

Take the "e" out of "stripes" as well. I typo'd it in the original.

Here's one for the military, it was their sacrifice that allowed us to win.

I hope it carries on like that. The military in CWMGQ was pretty cool as well honestly.

We're probably going to need them, so... *Shrug* We'll see how it goes, we are one of the first wave after all.

I was literally editing it while you were writing this post, but yes. Typo corrected.

As for the CWMGQ military... I doubt I ever saw an organisation as epic as the Akashic Pillar without it appearing over-the-top.

Depending on how you choose this could or could not happen.
Seeing as right now they are just normal military they are pretty good, but don't have any sort of magical effect.
This can be rectified. Or it can not.

We are so introducing Blessed Napalm to the military...

Edit: I know we do not have any. That does not mean we can not make some.

I was more thinking in terms of meatshields, being used to delay, and just general Dakka help. Heavy ordinance especially. I have a feeling we'll want some of that.

Might take a while to get there. We don't really know how that works or it's requirements. I mean... do we need a holy man or a Holy man? Do they need to know legit magic? And also convincing them to bless Napalm in the first place.

Also, I should just mention that I've updated the Character Info page, including Stats and The Shop. Annnd I've got a little something that CMGQ doesn't have. THE WORLD page. This should be pretty self explanatory, but it's pretty important, so you should maybe pay attention to it.

For the first part, we will see how this turns out.
For the second... same. However, I get the feeling Holy Men would not mind blessing napalm once we explain to them how our aura of fire basically burned this demon to death. I guess.
Either way, I guess I forgot the emote on my previous post. That was mostly meant as a joke.

Also: Oh, the shop!

Edit: Hey, we are Arfoire!

That was pretty epic,
it was the grenades that won it, even if they messed us up a bit less than the monster.

Wait this guy was a tier 2? we need to level up fast or we are fucked

Well... I get the feeling we need to learn not to set everything around us on fire first. Though I like the fact that we have more time to learn stuff and that we start with four attacks per round.

Edit:
Edit: Also, Dat cleavage.

To be fair, finding good pictures of Arfoire is not at all easy.

Edit 2: And we are nicknamed as "The Walking Bonfire".
Fitting, considering we are playing Dark Souls difficulty.

Finding good Arfoire pics is a goddamn nightmare. Most of them have her in her Witch getup. I'm using the True Arfoire look here.

And yeah, I will periodically change/add nicknames or titles as you get them or do awesome shit.

One would think there would at least be some deviantart pics of her or something, but... nope. Which is a real shame, she's cute like that.

For those interested, these were your rolls for the entire chapter, including determining how fucked up the world is.
The ones at the top are the newest, I'm just too lazy to flip them around.
