I'm not sure about the Lunar Wolves. pretty sure they'll become a problem when Abaddon launches the Black Crusade and harvests our geneseed.

[X] Plan: Until they see the glow of our barrels
-[X] Waaagh and Prejudice (Orks, Khorne): Bronze Midir has been blessed with skill and hubris in equal measure. The iconoclast is not content with his own god's displeasure. Instead he seeks to challenge the Twin Gods for the souls of their children. He has made a throne from the corpses of eight Warbosses and raises the banner of eternal war. To him rally Stormboyz, Freebootaz, Gretchin and every Greenskin that values strength above all else. For now the disfavored gathers his strength but soon the Red Waaagh will march for Armageddon. At his command they build a tremendous fleet, better to burn them in port then face them it in battle. (This Crisis will progress in one turn)
-[X] World Eaters: Before Angron, before the rage and slaughter the War Hounds had been a different breed. Once, they were used an iron fist. A premier mechanized fighting force left to degenerate for lack of supplies. They will always be great warriors, it will be your choices that make them something more.

-[X] Alpha Legion: Buried beneath their father's egomaniacal plans lies a deep well of competence. The Alpha Legion is known for their skill at subterfuge but perhaps their most remarkable ability is in coordination. They would have been masters of combined arms, if only they had bothered to try. Too blinded by imagined glory, and too insecure to see their own potential. Set them right.

-[X] Of Fate and the Forgotten (Tzeentch, Imperium): 'Outis the Journeyman' seeks The Thousand Sons in the hopes that sharing sorcerous knowledge might break Tzeentch's hold. Meanwhile the Alpha Legion has been spotted across the Segmentum Pacificus laying the groundwork for...something. The Dark Angels have promised to investigate these things. Best to assist them and try to disrupt whatever plans have been laid.
-[X] Iron Warriors: Traditionally they were used in meatgrinder sieges and garrison units behind the lines. However this usage ignores the unique strengths this geneline brings to bear. Most notably the gene seed is stable and plentiful alongside with a knack for creative problem solving.

-[X] Death Guard: Though few in number it seems that any psykers born of this gene seed will be particularly powerful to compensate. Otherwise the Death Guard were almost painfully reliable. -[X] Thousand Sons: The awakening of their psykers blunted the growth of this legion. Not merely in number but in their other skills. This gene seed is remarkably adaptable. Shorn from Magnus's grasp what remains is almost a blank slate. I just want to see Emperor's Children-descendant Space Marine Chapter.

Here.
And now, being serious, I get the point, I myself would want to see Thousand Sons, but they don't just fit it, and if we wanted to "correct" them via planetary culture and Chapter Master, I honestly have no idea what planet and who he would have to be to properly train them. Luna Wolves just have natural affinity for doing brutal strikes on enemie's leadership and we probably get veterans of Horus Heresy as Chapter Masters, so it just fits better.

Well...This isn't tie anymore. That for sure.

[X] Plan Social Engineering Arms Race

This is the only one that covers what i consider to be the biggest threat and has a chance of winning, would perfer Thousand sons, but what will you do?

And now, being serious, I get the point, I myself would want to see Thousand Sons, but they don't just fit it, and if we wanted to "correct" them via planetary culture and Chapter Master, I honestly have no idea what planet and who he would have to be to properly train them. Luna Wolves just have natural affinity for doing brutal strikes on enemie's leadership and we probably get veterans of Horus Heresy as Chapter Masters, so it just fits better.

The Lunar Wolves are certainly the most straightforward answer to the crisis but other legions would bring their own expertise. Thousand Sons for instance would be the most apt at actually understanding the foe. Similarly, while Khorne's blessings resist sorcery they are less able to prevent divination. Knowledge is power and all that.

The Chapter Masters are always going to be a bit idiosyncratic so they can bring a unique perspective/theming rather then just doubling down on their Legion's most obvious traits. Doubly so for the Traitor genelines. The stereotypical members of those all went with Horus or got slaughtered on Istvaan 3.

The odder a combination of Chapter and Request seems, the more fun I'm going to have coming up with CM's who can square that circle.

This is the only one that covers what i consider to be the biggest threat and has a chance of winning, would perfer Thousand sons, but what will you do?

Honestly that's my bad. I actually toned down the description from the first draft (The Alpha Legion was actively fleeing instead of a controlled withdraw) because I thought that you guys would be jumping at the bit to stop Tzeentch. Doubly so because I thought people would see The Lion heading off on his sidequest and panic at what might be happening. I figured it'd be an uphill battle for the thread to consider anything else.

Meanwhile Midir's phase 2 was going to be him traveling to Armageddon (hence the fleetbuilding) where you would get a chance to fight his armada, try to stop the Beast's empire (and thus deny Midir his chance), or try to play both against eachother at the height of their power.

I definitely misread how the thread would approach this one.

I personally prefer having a slightly off chapter to respond to a particular challenge than the straightforward options, just because its further incentivizes more straightforward choices, characterization I think comes easier when we are playing against type somewhere. I like the idea of playing into the writeup about combined arms for the Alpha Legion, and how that can be used to counter Khorne and the Orks in a sense denying them the ideas of champions.

Don't worry Dream Logic, you can hardly read other people minds. Also good point, I myself dislike the idea that somehow geneseed "rewrites" people to be mini-Primarchs, when the Chapter culture clearly shapes the person more than any implant influence. Geneseed have natural affinity to certain things, and can make you better at those things.

But ultimately, nothing prevents White Scars succesors from being good at building fortifications and be bad at bike riding or Spac Marine with Leman geneseed from disliking wolves. Death Guard geneseed will most likely make you tougher than other Marines but it doesn't mean you will be perfect, little Mortarion.

Also, yeah, it would just have to be incredible boring for you to write "just Ultramarines" or "just Emperor's Children".

It's probably talk from other Chapter creations quests, where people concentrate on geneseed itself rather how to shape the Chapter itself, that influenced me when I wrote that. Very sorry for that.
