Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

So do you just completely not believe anything you've said about information security in this world before or are you being a hypocrite I honestly can't tell anymore. Never mind the fact that I literally said fairies are just not reluctant to give away the information for a price you know like fairies are known to do. If you believe there is nothing any red could sell for the information I have a bridge to sell you in Tacoma.

My brother in Christ your plan literally won that is why we have fucking 80 doses of two potions and no one to drink the rest of that shit
1)Do you not understand that different factions have different intelligence-gathering capabilities?
Do you think Israel is as good at intelligence gathering abilities in Latin America as the US?

After more than five years of aggroing both Summer and Winter, why would you think that the Red Court has any capacity at getting information from them? After supporting a coup in the White Court, why would you expect the Reds to get much of anything from the Whites under Lara Raith?

Bad guys dont share information freely.
Hell, good guys dont share information freely; Harry and Ebenezar and Odin kept Molly's shit from most of the Council until she summoned Sanctuary and made enough of a ruckus for the Merlin to come and check personally.

2)See BoredMan's posts on this matter.

3) My plan did not win. BronzeTongue's plan won, 9 to 7.

1) yeah I'm sure no one of the hundreds of beings that hundreds of beings who have seen us white vampire, red vampire (Pathfinders, Vegas), Spirits (Vegas), anyone who might have seen us while we were fighting the Jade's whether that be under City or just when we were fighting in a hotel lobby cameras or No cameras or the Faye I'm sure they all keep their mouth shut and there's no cross pollination of information whatsoever. Never mind the fact that there are red and white vampires on the black Council some of which are sponsored directly by the same the Nephandi but I'm sure there's no way for the information to have been transmitted like we've never been followed by Spirits before whatever it's fine.

2) Okay fine that's the summer fairies very specifically what about the rest of the beings that have seen both steelskin and Viridian Legend exoskeleton and aren't Bound By An incarna.

3) that's an XP spend vote and we both know I was not talking about how we spend our XP. I was very specifically talking about AP which I posted in the comment you're replying to so I really don't understand what you're trying to get at here.

[X] Plan Taste of Hell
-[X] [Write in]: Threaten the vampire into backing off.
—[X] Excellency, FPoR, and allow aura through BMI
—[X] [Stunt]: Molly could almost feel her affront echoing through her bones, a note somewhere between the peal of thunder and an amethyst ritual knife striking stone. From the looks on their faces perhaps her audience could as well.
—-[X] For a moment the darkness seemed to lean in, hostile to what hid within it, as a taste of iron slipped by on the wind.
—-[X] Breaking the tension with an amused - almost startled - laugh she turned to reply. "Spilling blood in the name of a power unknown? How terribly bold. Did your Sire not teach you about the dangers of inviting in strangers?"
—-[X] The mocking edge drained out of her voice in favor of something much colder as she continued "If I didn't have better things to do this night I'd be tempted to help further your education".
—-[X] "Interrupt or invoke me again and I will not afford you the honor of a personal duel. I will force my way free of this place with the people I came for as easily as I did the Wicked City and the next you hear from me will be when my declaration of war as Empress of the Fivefold Courts of Fate, naming your belligerent incompetence as the provocation, arrives at your door".

This vamp is treating Molly like a Naagoloshi rather than a head of state. He clearly thinks he can take her, but I doubt he's really interested in explaining to the red king that another nation has entered the war on the opposite side. We're already supporting the council, but there's a difference.

If this somehow is the red king, which I'm not sold on since DP was being evasive, then his current political situation makes cases where it appears his poor judgement is causing issues for his subjects very dangerous for him.

I'm also hoping we can shield his hostages with the fear of the unknown. Nora evidently accidentally summoned demons and was tricked into selling her soul in life and death to the Wicked City by simply doing the wrong things in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This guy almost certainly knows better than to do that kind of thing, but it's also true that he doesn't really know anything about what Molly is or the rules of her domain. It wouldn't even be that crazy for a demon to be able to treat blood spilled in this manner as blood spilled for their sake and take advantage.

There are old soldiers and bold soldiers, but very few old bold soldiers. Same with magical predators. People who gamble on unknown demon powers not being able to hurt them tend to end up dead or in someone's hell realm.

The reds are basically DF!Skaven in terms of how prone they are to back stabbing. Better than even odds they use the setup for a duel to get people into position to make a run at the wizards while we're busy. We're not an Accorded Power so it's not like we have even the theoretical idea of rights to give them pause.

Get what we came for and leave.

bruh there's a difference between being a scrub and antediluvian powers which are literally world shaking ones like blot out the sun or mind control the entire human race. Methuselah powers I can see but even Mab only had like maybe one 10 dot equivalent ability and it doesn't even seem to be at will of causing an ice age.
To my knowledge, there's no requirement for Antediluvians to have Discipline 10 powers.
They can have them, but its not a must.
And there's several Discipline 9 powers that are already setting-breaking; see high-dot Temporis, for example.

I dont know how the QM would stat Kukulkan; for all we know, he maxes out at a bunch of Discipline 9s, combination Disciplines and unique powers.

Or he might even have Discipline 10s, and not use them because There Is Always A Bigger Fish in the Dresden Files, and trying to do so has personal Consequences, like loss of permanent Willpower dots, or Derangements, or something similar.
Or potentially stabbed with a Sword.

1) All several thousand members of the White Council covered up the manner of Morgan's death in canon. The Fomor managed to keep the identity of their Empress secret from most outsiders for centuries at a minimum. Nobody in all of Winter told Harry shit about the Leanansidhe, third in command of Winter, being detained until he met her in the heart of Arctis Tor.

Information security is important; a lot of people try to practice it.

The Cleveland Pathfinders Molly fought either died or didnt see her suited up. No Red Court vampires saw us fight in Vegas and lived. The only spirits who saw Molly fight in Vegas and lived were Charon and the Sin-Eater. The only people who saw Molly fight the Jades were all servitors of Kakuri or Odin, none of whom are prone to gossiping to the outside world.

No Nephandi mage has seen Molly fight and lived to yap.

2) How many vampires have better than Auspex 1-2?
How many of them have the skill or experience to tell what the fuck they are looking at? Isabella's Uncle Leinth is a literal White Court methuselah who saw Molly at arms-length and mistook her for a Jade Court elder in this quest.

And how many of those who are in the know are on the market to sell information?

Some spirits/supernaturals will not do business with you at all depending on your affiliation, or will set the price too high for you to pay, depending on whether they like you or not, or if they think the subject is too hot or likely to draw trouble. Native Americans in the Dresdenverse(and IRL) refuse to talk about naagloshii to most askers, to give one example.

You seem to believe that information is like the Internet, and that once its out there it can be easily acquired.
It really isnt. There's hoops to be jumped through, and scaled, and the fact that we get to skip most of those is one of the reasons we're so dangerous.

3) One.
Thats the vote I was referring to; you will notice that all the Charisma/Man/App/Int increases were discounted to 1XP because Molly had been using drugs to reduce the costs. If not, any of those would have cost upwards of 10XP.

Two.
I didnt win the plan vote either. Yog's Plan Security Home And Abroad did, 11 to 9.

Molly Carpenter... neophyte wizard, prisoner of the fey and technically a warlock, now champion of the forgotten Hells whose masters have faded from the universe long ago. If the Yozi could laugh from beyond oblivion they would. Also Harry Dresden did technically set the green fire....

I mean 9 dot powers are fine sure their godlyish powers but their not powers that can affect entire species or end the world like 10 dot disciplines. I mean even Mab doesn't canonically have anything as quick and powerful as a 10 dot discipline. Given she could in universe we've been told cause a global ice age but it doesn't seem to be at will like 10 dot disciplines are or maybe she could in which case that freeze the world power ice age bullshit would qualify. But if she cant do it instantly even shes not got anything canonically we've been told about that qualifies. Given I'm sure the mother does but she we've been told damages reality just by being in it soooo different scale and all that. I mean maybe the red king could maybe have a 10 dot power but that seems the kind of shit that could equal or do better than Mab and we've gotten word of god it'd take the entire red court to maybe force a win again Mab.

Arc 14 Post 14: A Will in the Way
A Will in the Way

18th of February 2007 A.D.

You wave off Carlos' objections with a smile." Its cool." Your caste mark begins to burn on your brow, even as eyes open all around you. "If Dread Kukulcan is looking to get some of his vassal lords killed..." You pitch your voice to carry, even as Dark Sun unfolds on your arm. "I suppose I can oblige." You look in the direction Sophia indicates and continue. "Your champion has one minute to get here".

White,
that is your first impression of the thing that shows itself amid misshapen forms of the blood-drunk hooting and hollering in horrid parody of a mortal crowd. It has the faint almost luminescent sheen of something dug up deep underground or dredged maybe from a nameless oceanic pit. It's eyes... its eyes are broken, but blind but as though one were somehow looking at a hundred, a thousand human eyes at the same times from every angle all at once. Like the light itself refuses to show what is there.

"So you have chosen the time and the place,"
Its laughter is the excitement of its lesser kin, a wave of barely leashed violence. "Then I shall choose will!"

A shard without shape and without color flies from his hand, a thing that screams its alien nature to all reality. A moment's idle talk with Bob as only Bob talks idly comes back to mind and with it the name: Mordite.

"Why the fuck do they have that here!" you scream in sheer frustration as you catch it in a net of will. It had been treated, but poorly, in haste, only about three feet closer, but that is three feet closer than it should ever get to Sophia and especially Carlos.

Mordite at 2/20 distance

I can draw Sophia off the field if I have to, can't do anything about the wizards.

"They are getting rather desperate you see," the fellow wearing blood and shadows shouts up in what TV calls a Mid-Atlantic accent. "Trying to see if they can make something out of the husks that used to be gods, the ones they have been draining. It's good though, means they are throwing the kitchen sink at you."

"Zadock, for the love of God stop distracting her with explanations of shit!"

"Oh but Donald, it's barely moved and it's closer to the vampire than it is to her, two good shoves will see it gone. Unless it's pulling that trick we heard about with the shells, but that would be terribly unsporting."

"The lady down there would like to inform you that he is indeed pulling that trick..." Sophia speaks suddenly in your mind. "Having long since lost even the form of the vampire this particular lord has grown to posses the bodies of his juniors like a parasitic fungus, there are five of them present counting the one in front of you. After you kill this one..."

You kill this one, no essence, no fire, no tricks, your will against the will of something that had been around since man still flaked stone. The white body crumples inward and is not.

Mordite at -4/20 -> Body slain

And then the stone comes rocking almost sixty feet in your direction even though you'd been ready for it as another pale thing blooms among the broken ones like a poison flower.

Mordite at 6/20

"Bah! Well I will be darned, not just to cheat, but against a lady!" That affront would have a good bit less menace if a circle of vampire blood weren't starting to boil around him, as though climbing an invisible wall.

What do you do?

[] Keep playing normally, maybe you can psych this thing out (Manipulation+Intimidation)

[] Try to grab the Mordite with MHM and throw it like a pinball to hit all four remaining hosts (DEX Athletics)

[] Crush it and turn this into the only kind of fair fight the Reds can manage, an all our brawl

[] Write in

OOC: So yeah you interrupted something that involved Mordite so now it's being used in an ad hoc duel where you have one life and the enemy has five four. Or rather they think you have one life. Molly trusts IPP to tank that thing, but she is pretty sure it would explode if she did that and Carlos is right behind her. Also yes Zadock is a legitimate American Colonial name which is awesome, but I felt the need to preempt any questions given how much like an old-time super-villain that is.

I am pretty sure they would say it's unfair despite basically doing the same thing with their possession trick, but would Sophia counts as us as far as *keeping it nominally a duel* would go?

What??? Is this the fucking mage duel thing from the hermetics but with mordite instead.

Lmao fucking idiots. Lets just kill them all.

God the urge to grab their weapons and kill them with their own idiocy...Very strong. But I'm not sure we can. On the other hand, this is a plan that will definitely remove this instakill from the battlefield.

On the other hand, a bit of lore. Apparently mordite is pieces of Neverborn corpses, apparently. Well, nothing logical can be said

I wonder if we can steal the mordite
It should definitely be a powerful reagents especially given the circumstances of acquisition. War prizes are always good reagents in Exalted crafting the harder fought for the better.

Just to be clear this isn't subtle. They are all going to notice the Mordite glowing green.

[x] Keep playing normally, maybe you can psych this thing out (Manipulation+Intimidation)
-[x][stunt]As you push the deadly rock forward you do not stand still walking forward as a slow casual pace. As inevitable as their death.

Anyway we can get ourselves wet?

Not Neverborn, the gods of South American. Because these are the ones who got eat by the Reds.

It's a shame I was looking forward to freeing and employing those gods. Of course I would want to get False Hope Springs first to surpress their Torment and other issues that they surely have.

Just use their corpses to create new gods that will be loyal to us. That's my plan for the dragon corpse our father killed (on a day when the world or our allies aren't close to self-destruction, even though it's hard to imagine something like that from Moly's experience so far).

That takes actions which we never seem to have to spare.

What? It boxed us in and said "duel now". At this point they're just reflexively referencing rules that don't even have to apply her so they can break them.

These guys are definitely going to drag this out to set up a backstab, so we should have something more specific set up for our clones.

Another important question is what counts as a lose condition from a technical perspective here. The reds will say whatever benefits them most, but if letting that thing hit us to start a physical fight counts as losing the contest of will from the perspective of other powers we could have a problem.

We may need to just grit our way through this.
