Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
To be honest I think this technique is kinda broken, especially the qi recovery part. I can understand spending qi to tank damage for ourselves and for allies. But then that qi being auto-filled makes no sense to me. Maybe I am mistaken, but shouldn't qi come from somewhere?

Second thing is that within the 3rd realm this technique basically makes minor realm advantage pointless. It is basically shen vs no shen now. Whereas before it was made abundantly clear that a peak third realm outclasses LQ. How does that realm advantage play out when this technique is used?

Mostly I am worried about the system getting unbalanced and the fight scenes devolving into standard xianxia protagonist BS and asspulls.

I don't think that'll be a problem. From the discord:

I am looking forward to writing fights that will actually stress and force you to use all the nonsense I'm giving you yes
Here comes the paintrain.

I mean it's not really any different from Black Mirror - it's a big defensive technique that stops us taking damage. It's just that rather than negating the opponents' attack like Black Mirror did, we take the damage and then heal it off.

I'm okay with that but I like remembrance more than memories.

Precious Remembrance of the Broken Pillar? I'd vote for both that and plain Remembrance of the Broken Pillar.

Might I suggest a tweak?

If we're going to use an "of the" name anyway, I'm a fan of going full hubris and matching the naming scheme of Laughing Flight of the Wind Thief.

And I'm also a fan of the Zhengui tie-in.

So with that in mind:

[ ] Precious Memories of the Broken Pillar
Right, but we don't actually know much about it or care about that fallen tree. We have no such precious memories, and while "remembrance of..." fits despite that with a tone of being inspired by it or going on in it's image, adding precious in implies a personal connection that doesn't exist. It's trying to be clever in two ways at once and while it maybe succeeds at it it's at the cost of the surface reading no longer making sense for our character.

Really? "Precious Memories", as a phrase, feels natural to me, but the full "Precious Remembrance of the Broken Pillar" just seems cumbersome in comparison.

I guess cumbersome isn't terrible for Xianxia names, but I really feel like Remembrance works better as a standalone.

A Precious Remembrance is 100% something I can hear someone saying. One of the definitions of Remembrance in addition to just memories is something like a memorial, and that fits a lot better than Memories does. And the full phrase is kinda flowery, but this xianxia, that's hardly a flaw.

[X] Primordial Boreal Bastion

Qi is inspired by the Boreal forests she's seeing in her new home as much as the distant jungles she saw in the Dream. But I also want to honor Thousand Ring Fortress with a bit of a callback. And, yeah, a little reference to the Broken Pillar.

So the antifinisher tech of the new art is a big undo button, huh?

That must look utterly astonishing for the enemies.
They launch their strongest attack against LQ, she is left broken and qi-less on the ground, dangling on the brink of death.
And suddenly she just returns to her state from before the attack, as if nothing had even happened.
That's utterly terrifying.

On the name of the art. Given that Kohatu powers comes from the jungle thriving under the destruction of the fallen Heavenly Pillar, I really dig using "of the Broken Pillar" on the name.

But I also think that "Precious Remembrance" is too clunky. Memories isn't my favourite either.
Remembrance alone works best

Here are some ideas to combine with "of the Broken Pillar"
-Remembrance
-Will
-Legacy
-Aspiration

[X] Legacy of the Broken Pillar

Trying to force Precious into the name isn't working. We can add it an evolved tech or something.

I prefer:
Inheritance of the Broken Pillar
The Will of the Broken Pillar
Or I guess "Legacy" works instead
[X] Legacy of the Broken Pillar
[X] Myriad Roots Succession

More than that. It's one stint where she is immortal and with infinite qi (with restrictions), and then she's perfectly fine.

So she could eat the big finisher technique, fire off a bunch of dramatic sacrifice techniques, and then be fine.

Or, put another way: it's her boss fight phase transition.
