i do wonder whether the river option's lack of interaction is a good thing rather than a bad thing in the doylist view. I prefer the lake option but that is a another narrative point and character into the cast. As it is we are already trying to juggle too much narrative threads.

The first one is named Empty Nest and features Qingshe and Xin, so it's almost certainly Dragon Mom having tea with Moon Auntie and complaining about her darling boy having moved out.
On the topic of how many characters there are in the narrative, it'll be interesting to see how the story handles the Ling Clan as it grows. At the Viscount level there'll already be too many cultivators to give all an onscreen role:
