Speaks Words of Wisdom... On occasion
We voted to spend an action fortifying Barbarun. If we roll over the void forces in Gathin, could we fortify there instead? Or is it too late?
We're not physically able to hold Gathin, and we'd be idiots to try, it's bordered by two separate hostile powers who each are stronger than us. We're here to stop Chaos from winning, not to get more Clay. If we can get some loot and maybe nab some potential Hereteks for free research and citizens on the way, bonus, but the point here is to Kill Chaos, no more, no less.
Barbarun and Ikatun were ideal targets because they were relatively soft, and each only had a border with a single system, we could dig in and hold the location while pressuring Neon and reducing their slack to retaliate quickly. I considered hitting Quintura, but realized that taking on two Civilized Worlds was a quagmire we couldn't afford to absorb--or should I remind you all how integrating a small handful of barely settled Neon worlds dealt a significant blow to our infrastructure?
...
Honestly, the sweet thing here would be if we could capture some of the less-corrupted Chaos ships for more Reverse Engineering and more starlift so we can more easily get our dudes the fuck out when it's time to bail. We've got five dedicated boarder ships coming thanks to the Lamenters going All In here after all. Not every ship in the Chaos Fleet is inherently a Thing of Evil that will Corrupt Everyone who sets foot in it, that's mostly reserved for Daemonships and shit like the Hades or Carnage class. Bagging a Slaughter-class would be a hell of a coup if they've got one, because that thing's got a revolutionary engine that Chaos bent over backwards to make sure they got a monopoly on that makes it as fast as a Destroyer while also having the gunline of a Lunar. If we can grab that and figure it out, it would be a huge benefit to our growing navy.
Of course, if that's the case, it means we're fighting a fairly strong Cruiser, in which case we're going to take losses.
