Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] Plan All Seeing
[X] Use your Crown
-[X] On the bullet. Who fired this?
-[X] On the rat. Who was your master?
--[X] If the answer to those questions are different.
-[X] On the note. Who made you dissappear?
---[X] If the answer to those questions are same or the Black court vampire.
-[X] On the note. Where is the one who made you dissappear?

If the answers to those questions come up with different people that means he has multiple accomplices or very least a singular minion knowing who this person who can operate in broad daylight is allows us to find them and directly Trace down the Black vampire. The last question is so we can find out more about the vampire themselves because they are definitely eating parts of the white vampires they're killing.

A couple of things to keep in mind, that would put your Essence pool at 12 (-4 questions +2 for finding an secret), but more importantly perhaps it would put you on the edge of flaring, for the remainder of the seen (15 minutes to an hour) if you spend even one more mote of Essence you are going up in flaming eyes and cutting cold winds.

Wouldn't that be 13 Essence because it's three questions total that changed depending on the output we get. From what I remember about asking about the identities of people we do get images of them and from what I remember both of these could be wrong we know that black Court vampires have a very distinct appearance. So the question changes from who to where depending on our knowledge of the black Court vampire. Though you are right that does still put a super close to flaring I think I'm going to wait for some people to put in alternate plans see if something better comes up.

  • Depending on how magical the target is you can get images, but you can also get just names.
  • I misses that it was three questions not four, so yeah you are a bit safer

-[X] Who was involved in planning and committing the murder of Ken Mayeda?

Rat Race

COMMENTARY
Arlene darling, eh?
Wonder what she's holding back right now?

===
Murdered body in bed?
Blampires cant cross a threshold uninvited, and unless Mayeda was literally living in hotel rooms, even a bachelor flat would have enough of a threshold to deter Black Court vamps.

So in order to do that, it needed accomplices. Non-blampire accomplices.
Its not just a Master Blampire, but rather one with a backing organization, with either normal mortals or Renfields.
And probably with magic at that, since mortals managing to sneak up on a Whampire in his own apartment is improbable.

===
But the letter continues in a shakier hand: I was right, Holy Ishtar I wish I wasn't. This rat comes into my room with a note between its teeth that says 'You've seen I can hurt ya mate and you've seen how I can help yea, lets' talk. Venetian Canals at midnight, I'll even bring you a snack.'
Carrot and stick.
Thats not the stylings of a random psycho, thats someone who wants something specific from him.
Mayeda is probably still alive.

Also, that appears to be British slang. Cockney, maybe.

===
Mayeda went to a meeting he was invited to but didnt return.
Given that the Blampire(s) involved here doesnt appear to be shy about leaving dead bodies around, the lack of Mayeda's body suggests that he wasnt killed, but rather abducted.

Abduction means that he's likely still alive.
Whether its for something he knows, something he can do or be made to do, or just spite.

Either way, this means that there had to be facilities for capturing and transporting an adult Whampire from the middle of the Vegas Strip, one of the most heavily surveilled urban areas in the US.
And in the area of a major casino at that.

That sort of thing requires a lot of magic, a lot of people, or both. All leave traces.
We probably want to get the cyberdevils into the local security cameras and Las Vegas PD computers to see what they can access.

Feel kind of conflicted here, because doing the whole investigation seems fun on an OOC level, but I can't help but think that Molly just learned nemesis wants to burn down mortal society and is hunting one of its pawns in the shadow of a back door into reality.

It probably isn't related because it hadn't started this plan till recently, but this seems like the sort of thing that puts you on a time crunch. Which would push towards less unraveling the plot and more towards finding the killer and murdering them as quickly as possible - with or without context - so we can finish up here as quickly as possible.

I mean, we still haven't even let the wizards, feds, or Illuminati!kindergartener know Cthulhu's sapient roofies are going to pull out all the stops, much less coordinated what to do about it. I suspect that's going to monopolize a lot of our time over the next few months.

Everything from large arm shipments to foci raids are going to soak up AP like a sponge.

My guess is that IC Molly probably thinks they are connected.
She knows the Black Court are connected somehow to the Neverborn, that the Neverborn are related to the way a lot of necromancy is practiced, and that they are familiar.

A Black Court elder having the stones to start shit so openly in a major US city against multiple factions in a city claimed by the Sin-Eater, and not getting the hammer dropped on it promptly by the Red Dragon for endangering business?
Is probably not coincidence.

EDIT
More broadly with regards to Nemesis?
She has to figure that its not exactly news to most other supernatural players in the setting.
We know OOC that its not to at least some of the wizards, even if they do hoard secrets.

So after the initial shock, she's going to take a look at everyone else, and a deep breath.

Happy new year, everyone! Sorry for not voting, or participating in plan making. I'll do this tomorrow morning if no one comes up with anything really good. We definitely should start with four questions (that's 30 minutes to restore motes in bleach, so affordable). I have something to start us off with

[] Use your Crown
-[] Using the scene as the focus: "what are the plans of the perpetrators of the events talked about here for the next twenty four hours?"

This gives us the expected locations of the perpetrators. That's bare minimum needed. Everything else is a bonus. We should then use the items provided to discover the particulars of the event, the reasoning behind it, the identities of everyone involved. Leave here and use public records as foci. Then probably find the bodies. I'll have to think of this.

We don't know how old it is exactly. Blamps get strong quick, so it's possible it's a medium grade player.

Also worth noting Mavra was an elder and she showed up to blackmail Dresden during Grave Peril in a somewhat similar way. It's weird, but not that weird.

On nemesis, I think you're missing my point. What we learned was that it is changing tactics, prior to now it's been happy to abuse the masquerade the same way everyone else has. It wasn't worth the heat to break it when it could work slowly. Molly pissed it off by pinning it in place against its intimacies and demonstrated that she can somehow just perfectly pick it out of wherever it's hiding, personally hurt it, and steal secrets from its head when she does so.

So it's going to flip the table in a new way no one should be able to predict. That it's planning something big and new is the whole reason it was trying so hard to hide its thoughts from us.

[X] Travel to the Venetian Canals where one murder took place, perhaps a second also

Harry probably has enough dots in Investigation for this to be worth it. It'll also give us another vector to use the Crown.

Gonna need some more votes when everyone is finished with New Year-related stuff.

Why are people bandwagging Goldfish's vote when it was said by the QM that it isn't a valid question because it counts as two? Not to mention we don't even know if he is dead to begin with.
