Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Confession? OK what did I miss who confessed what?

Should be confusion

No problem. It's what stress testing and debugging (and that's essentially what I am doing with the system) are for.

So, how does transformation splendor work then in regards to abilities? If I understand correctly, attributers are overwritten, willpower stays the same as initial. What happens to abilities? The latest ruling seems to indicate that they are either disregarded entirely (same as with willpower), or some of them are disregarded (certainly all knowledges, and probably also skills, but what about talents?). Is that correct?

Also, what about Hedge Magic merit itself? Not the path dots, but the spark of talent that makes it possible to learn the path dots later on with XP?

EDIT: Also, do non-physical merits carry over after transformation? That also can get quite silly, if less silly than the first iteration of the idea.

Talents are the more inherent so those works

Just making someone a minor talent of some kind with crafting? I am going to say no on that one just because it oversteps into what the fomori charms are for

As for non-physical merits, that kind of steps on Vee's toes so yes but not the supernatural ones just social and mental.

[X] [Harry] Magic-resistant home appliances from the courts, and some tomes on magic fit for general consumption
[X] [Bob] Magically-resistant computer with high-speed internet access paid for a year and a day for Bob
[X] [Mouse] A day at a spa in the Courts where he'll be treated as a sophont

I know these are differently priced, but we are pretty much at the point where prices don't matter, so I'll just generally pick what I think is the best gift without comparing them between each other.
Besides, the Computer is the only thing that will cost real money, and even then we could just use a slab from the Courts and jury-rig an internet-connection if we lack money.

Transforming people into completely new specialists seems a bit extreme to me. There's some benefit, but it seems more reasonable to spend the same resources on justifying bribing out an agent from our hell.

We need to be careful to find balance in this, but as long as the infinite demons tap doesn't get opened at full throttle we can make something work. Maybe spend the magic/resources paying them and providing a way to stop them from permanently dying if they're mortal.

A Sutra operated reaper drone equivalent with the ability to cast invisibility on itself is more dangerous than most of what we could turn people into anyway.

Arcana are better for situations where we want to exploit the fact that they're spirits than as replacements for material beings.

It could be a complementary thing to training charms. Use it to give people Athletics, Awareness, Alertness and Brawl 6 + Because I Think I Can merit, and then raise their physical stats with a training charm. Quite expensive, but if we are making minions from mortals, could have a place. This was mostly a thought exercise intended to plug a possible hole in the system.

Bob on the internet seems like the sort of thing that might cause Harry trouble. Bob almost always manages to make Harry regret it when he gets permission to interact with other people.

Edit:

I don't think the risk is high enough to really be a factor here, but I do wonder if long term the internet would qualify as something like a spiritual carcinogen to knowledge spirits.

Modified version of Yog's list.
Most of these dont appear to require major investment of effort to acquire, and arent inappropriate to give.

The one thing I have qualms about on this list is the remote drone.
Mouse doesnt have opposable thumbs or telekinesis. Using a controller is essentially impossible, and a harness would be both uncomfortable, and require someone to put it on and off for him.

I'd rather give him a dog collar, or a dog collar talisman that gave him short-range TK/manual dexterity, but I dont know if its legal.

QUESTION
Is this a legal writein:
Enchantment 2-4 Talisman by Sorcerer Paths of Power said:
Dog Collar of Thumbs
A dog collar that grants the wearer superhuman manual Dexterity. They provide an additional +2 dice to all Dexterity rolls that involve non-combat manipulation of objects and the environment. In addition, a successful Willpower roll at DC6 will activate a 1-yard range telekinetic ability using the wearer's physical traits for 1 scene or 1 hour, whichever is shorter.
Essentially, a magic aid for people without thumbs. Or long fingers.

A day at a spa in the Brass Courts requires that the Temple Dog spend that day away from the temple he is guarding and the person he adopted, in a totally different layer of reality.
Dont give gifts that the recipient wont use.

Bob used the Internet while with Butters after Dresden died, and had learned to independently access it with magic by the time he got back to Dresden after his return.
So, not really. Especially since we're giving him a custom system.

If we're really paranoid about it, we can simply tunnel his internet access through a cyberdevil or SUTRA-managed server or VPN.
But I dont expect it to be an issue.
Unless the QM decides its funny.

Excellent

I was thinking eye tracking if, for some reason, mystically enhanced wearable unobstructive harness is impossible. For the interface, something like this, but fit for a dog skull. A neural interface built into something that he could wear constantly without it being uncomfortable.

A magical dog collar of minor telekinesis works too, absolutely.

I had my doubts based on my own personal comfort level with headphones and the like; Ive never known a person capable of wearing such a thing for 12 hours at a time.
But it isnt really my field of expertise.

I'll get around to answering your previous post later.
When I get some sitdown time, hopefully.

On another note - with Lash removed, I think Dresden missed his chance to acquire soulfire - in canon, if I recall correctly, it was granted to him by Uriel after Lash died, and I'm not sure if the same would happen now.
Harry was given soulfire as a balance to the Denarians getting extra special hellfire from down below when they abducted Marcone and Ivy. We have disrupted that chain of events, but it wasn't the Lash stuff. Marcone was abducted when he became the Baron of Chicago, and the event that secured that, the White Court cleaning house, is something that we did here without his involvement. No sponsorship from the White Council because Harry needed his help happened here.

The Denarians would still like getting the Archive if they could, and they might try something else. The special hellfire would still possibly be needed since containing Ivy was why it was necessary. The canon sequence of events has been knocked off course though.

isn't this a bit redundant? Bob with computer with internet already gets all the smut, pardon, romance, he could want. I mean, we could get him a flash drive with Court romance.
Romance novels has to be actively voted for as an option; it doesnt come prepackaged with the computer.
He doesnt get an Internet connection to the Brass Courts noosphere, after all, or money to buy it with. If we want to give him Romance novels from the Brass Courts, whether physical paper or ebook, we have to actively vote for it.

And even Earth romance novels are relatively cheap; paperbacks around 2006 were in the seven dollar range new off Amazon, and cheaper used. A hundred dollars will get him fifteen-ish books new, and more used.

So thats why I included it.

No, I get why Brass Court ones would still need to be voted on. It's just to me it seems that if we gift him a computer with internet, we should concentrate on our Court novels, and may e provide them in an electronic form, rather than printed form. Because he'd get Earthside novels automatically via internet access.
