Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

--[X] Banked XP: 2xp
-[X] Lydia: 9 XP

-[X] Set The King and the Kingdom: The Thousand and First Hell as the signature charm

Also we can just make some anti magical defences with the crafting charms surely.
We can, if its critical.
Madrigal Raith came to the fight in White Night with a pair of antimagic bracelets that blocked spellcasting by both Ramirez and Dresden, and it was just mortal crafting.

And we still have the native Wits + Occult antishaping of Exalted in this setting.

I wont lie; EIPP is very important.
But I think we can put it off for a month in favor of expanding our other capabilities and covering some other vulnerabilities.
I think I argued for increased Awareness and Perception more than anyone on our last XP buy. I would like more of both, but we've done too much shit to draw the attention of heavy hitters with all kinds of esoteric powers. Shaping Defense just doesn't seem optional at this point.
Unfortunately, thats not our only vulnerability.

And while like I said, antishaping is very important, so is being able to notice an arcane ambush ahead of time.
And with people agitating to bring people into Chicago from our Hell? Being able to make a house god to guard their residence/HQs is kinda important as well. As is putting a house god for Rosie, whose due date is in January, a month away.

And seriously, we need to prioritize getting Lydia some fucking armor.
The girl is walking around into popup fights with a soak of 2 and a jacket that allows her to get rerolls.
She is less protected than a police officer with a kevlar vest.

Sure but it should be able to stop them or at least blunt the damage.
They aren't going to be hitting our health track here. This is save or immediately turn into a goat/explode/get banished to the shadow realm territory.

Partial coverage is about as effective as wearing half of a two piece swimsuit. Better than nothing, but there is still significant exposure.

Our kingdom should have something. In general the trade off is likely to be looking conspicuous. You can tell when a police officer is wearing kevlar.

Properly enchanted stuff is rare in the DF. I doubt vampire claws count either, when they're not spending blood points for damage enhancement anyway. Not many of them can actually do that, which makes she dramatically more survivable against mook spam. The red court loves mook spam, so it's relevant.
Dresden was running into shit like hexenwulfen belts and magic scorpion drones back in his first two books.
A wastrel like Madrigal Raith canonically had antimagic bracelets capable of blocking evocation magic by Dresden and Carlos.
Vampire claws, and supernatural creatures like the Fae, all count as magic.

I dont doubt that they'll be bringing the good stuff out for Molly and her associates.

Concealed kevlar vests have been a thing for years now for cops.

The problem for Lydia is that she's a sixteen year old girl in modern society, with a sixteen year old's fashion tastes, and she needs something she can carry 24/7 that will provide soak while remaining inconspicuous.
Whether she's wearing a halter top and jeans, a strapless backless evening dress or a heavy winter jacket and balaclava.

That means either a magic amulet to provide soak or a shapechanging armor of some sort. Or both.
Thats not off the shelf magic stuff, even in our Hell.

EDIT
I mean, remember that we saw Eiko, and she was wearing proper jade armor during our fight.
If Emma-O's favored infiltrators dont get shapeshifting armor, I suspect its not something that you can just get your hands on.

It's not nonexistent, but when Harry gets into a fight with a group of vamps or whatever almost none of them have anything. Harry, an actual wizard, has maybe two items that are actually enchanted instead of acting as foci.

The hexenwolf belts were the central plot device of their book, and pretty significant to find just out in the wild.

I don't think natural weapons like that really count for this purpose. They don't have any special properties or do anything that a mundane claw wouldn't.

Trash mobs don't exactly have much weight to throw around.
Whether she's wearing a halter top or a winter jacket.
Like Holt's rune jacket? She's not completely without options.

Natural weapons of supernaturals count as magic under WoD rules.
Always have.
Garou claws count as aggravated, even, and I know in the DF Mouse's teeth do as well, given the fight with the Ick demon.

And Im pretty sure the QM already ruled that Rampire saliva counts as magic weaponry, too, for the purpose of Exalted poison resistance.

Like Holt's rune jacket? She's not completely without options.
Holt's rune jacket gives you 1 or 3 soak rerolls per day.
It does not give you extra soak.
And you cant wear it everywhere.

During the fight at the Raith ball, she had nothing we know of.

Fastest way to outfit Lydia or anyone for that matter is just take them into our hell. Lydia can get some spider silk dresses and other items. And we can get all the stuff enchanted, with just about any useful effects we want.

And let's not forget actual power armor is something we can get in a few hours.

If you have preptime you can gear up with your best shit.
Popup fights are the issue. You cant wear obviously military gear into a social reception, or when shopping at Walmart, or just travelling to a warehouse to do some contract work, or going to Oklahoma to help a new minion move.

And Molly does not have the authority or jurisdiction to choose Lydia's clothes for her.

Power armor is not something Lydia has any experience using either.
Its not something you just pop on out of the blue.
And thats assuming that power armor is a thing in our Hell.

If your going to get crafting max crafting.

What military gear spider silk is a common clothing what with an entire race of spider people. We can just provide a pattern and get just about anything custom made. We can replace Molly family, and all her friends clothing, with spider silk, body-armor/ultra high class clothing as a rounding error in Molly's budget.
Power armor is not something Lydia has any experience using either.

Eh what? GM has mentioned outfitting Mouse with power armor would take at most a few hours. In fact it not out of line for the hell to have folding power armor, IE wearable bracers that deploy the armor at a moments notice.

Guys. Guys.

Hear me out:

Plan: WMD
- Principle-Invoking Onslaught: 12 XP
- Dreams of Disease: 8 XP

With these two nifty charms, we can 1) summon tactical nuclear warheads to fire off like a bazooka, and 2) give anyone who survives a disease of our choosing.

But why, the reasonable quester may ask, why would you purchase the WMD-summoning charm without any dots in Firearms? Now we shall all surely die.

Lol, says I, lmao.

Remember that Next turn is against the red court, we need all the advantages we can and we might get enough exp to buy the crafting charm later on when we finish the Battle so getting an advantage might be a good idea

Im pretty sure they are?
The cherubim and seraphim have their own delineated roles, but for command of heaven's host, you're looking at the archangels.
Michael et al.
Michael is at the top but he's sort of an exception as he isn't "just" an Archangel. Seraphim are of the First and innermost Order I believe. Archangels are apart of the Order that is seen and most concerned with humans so I guess from that perspective they have the most power? Still that doesn't mean they have more strength per se so much as direct influence over humanity.

Actually fuck it nvm. I'm not trying to do research on the subject to make sure of what little I do recall, when there are so many differ interpretations to begin with. I doubt its relevant for the purposes of this quest anyhow.

We are frankly good for an assassination against a Rampire entourage.
Most Red Court vampires have no magic, and those who do cant wield shaping willy-nilly.
Our primary vulnerabilities arent with regards to magic resistance against them.

If we were gearing up for war against the Red Court, we'd be doing:

This. Just replace Dreams of Disease with Fathomless Poison Haven.

Yes but this is not a normal red court base, but where the daughter of their leader lives. It should be magically protected like the presidential bunker so the Magic resistance should be a go. Also why do we need the crafting charm now if we can wait after we annihilate the red court in order to be safer

There are very few active places we can't get into with RVD either by coming in though the plumbing or hiding in a glass of water. Also we have a shapeshifter 'friend' who can impersonation someone with every right to be there.
