Even if it isn't we can still take a shot on better prepared ground; with CCC we can take it to difficulty 2 at the same dice pool size. Now that we know what it looks like inside its hosts, will the DC be lowered the next time we scan for it?
Assuming we make the roll perception+empathy against Nemesis' wits+subterfuge with enough degrees of success to get a juicy secret. It will almost certainly be mote-positive, as we'll be learning something which will restore 2 essence.
Sadly minimum difficulty is 3, or for a certain amount of situations we'd be rolling autosuccesses already.Even if it isn't we can still take a shot on better prepared ground; with CCC we can take it to difficulty 2 at the same dice pool size.
Depends on how well we do. If reality is it's biggest regret then there's a possibility we might see why it feels that way.well learning their greatest shame is at least possibly gonna lead us to more answers on wtf their origins are or maybe it'll be useless. It could just show us an image of the world and its very existence really.
@DragonParadox are we in a place of desolation? If so, would this count as protecting Mab's daughter?
Also is it cold enough to trigger Without honor, without hope?
If so we would have -3 (ATB) -1 (BSM) -3 (TLF) difficulty 0n 16 dice with +2 dice (WHWH) on a difficulty of Nemesis (Wits + Subterfuge).
Nemesis is one of the few beings in the setting that likely knows perfectly well who and what he is dealing with. We should unnerve it by our very presence, to frighten it more we'd need, like, bring forth Unconquered Sun, or Ligier.I would rather attempt to unnerve Nemesis in this instance. We're already going to be on its shitlist, so we might as well put enough oomph into this to make it wary of us, if that's actually possible.
as far as I'm concerned this is for future info acquisition and I believe trying to scare a super immortal acasual superhorror is uh well beyond us honestly. Also doesn't provide much actual benefit to us. Whereas the greatest shame is essentially a mystery box which could provide us with dozens of different things which vary in usefulness most not immediately useful though.I would rather attempt to unnerve Nemesis in this instance. We're already going to be on its shitlist, so we might as well put enough oomph into this to make it wary of us, if that's actually possible.
The problem with learning the secret shame of an utterly alien being, and the Outsiders are as alien as you can possibly get, is that they don't necessarily experience emotions as we would expect. Or the motivations which drive their emotions are so outside our frame of reference as to be meaningless.
Nemesis' greatest shame, whatever that is, could be completely incomprehensible to us, but even if it is something we can easily understand, how could we go about making use of that knowledge? We have no reasonable way to leverage the knowledge, since Nemesis, of all the Outsiders we are aware of, is the one we can't actually interact with directly.
[X] Singsong: "I see you, hiding in the silence between her thoughts."
Also, in for a penny, in for a pound. By demonstrating to Mab that we can perceive Nemesis infection in this manner, we demonstrate further power to her while also providing some cover for the Crown.
One from Molly and two from Mab. Not three from Mab.Well that went slightly more effectively than anticipated, but we did make our impression at least. Needing three direct orders from Mab to move certainly says something about how hard they took that.
I always read it as self-imposed limits that are needed to uphold free will and when Denarians and their boss intervene (with powering the ritual or whispering to Dresden, even with the very existence of the coins), they crush that balance, which warrants the intervention of the Heavens. The instance with the coins is explained as a feature that lets them stay in circulation and that the Church as usual is riddled with corruption. Not just Ghost Story.
Small Favor as well, where Lucifer intervenes to supply power to the Denarians for the fuckhuge containment circles they used to capture and contain the Archive, while Uriel slips Dresden a soulfire upgrade
Does this mean we should be prepped to go into combat at the end of the ritual? And in particular, need to worry about (this part of) Nemesis trying to flee via processing us or Mab?Success ends any form of possession afflicting the ritual's subject, ejecting the possessing spirit or shade.

Though I do love the idea of Murder Is Meating it
Yeah. It might be something incomprehensible or absurd to us, like it is ashamed of the colour blueor maybe even a boat. The problem with learning the secret shame of an utterly alien being, and the Outsiders are as alien as you can possibly get, is that they don't necessarily experience emotions as we would expect. That said, while I do want to find out the shame still, this is a very good point. Also, in for a penny, in for a pound. By demonstrating to Mab that we can perceive Nemesis infection in this manner, we demonstrate further power to her while also providing some cover for the Crown.

if we survive twenty years we'd definitely be a devil tiger not that a normal exalted would be. But, we're talking about the kind of time and experience needed to be what is essentially a primordial if not on the strongest side of said primordials.Yeah. It might be something incomprehensible or absurd to us, like it is ashamed of the colour blueor maybe even a boat.
Or - and I admit this is a bit of a stretch, but still within the bounds of possibility - it is ashamed of some unaddressed weakness or some sort of past failure we could exploit. I'm pretty curious tbh.
That said, while I do want to find out the shame still, this is a very good point.
Thining on it though it also applies to the shame option, 'cuz if we find out Nemisis' shame via charm and share that info with Mab, then that would also provided cover/chaff to help obfuscate the crown?
[Silly:] Twenty years from now, Molly has everyone gunning after her - not because people have learned the capabilities of her crown, but because she has developed and demonstrated enough powerful divination abilities in an attempt to obfuscate her crown's power that people are equally freaked out.
