Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

So we know Mzb's daughter is infected and have the capacity to free her.
Molly knows she is infected, we do not know how to cure her or if we can at all.
And although ooc we do know Exalts are capable of nigh anything, they are not capable of everything, and we have not been exactly developing healing.

[X] Fix your gaze on it to try to figure out what it is (In addition to the Perception+Occult roll of the Charm Molly will roll Manipulation+Subterfuge opposing the Watcher's Perception+Alertness in order not to be caught looking)
-[X] Using both relevant excellencies

You have Sapphire Ritual Exorcism, Molly may not be an expert in Outsiders but she does know that ritual... Does What It Is Supposed To.

We aren't sure IC that we can, actually, which is interesting.

We probably have to do an alpha-strike on Maeve. Roofie her at some wild party, and while she's knocked out use exorcism on her. Then hopefully cooperate with her to target others.

Use your superpowers.

Well, I can't say I was expecting there to be a spy watching Lara quite so closely. That's either super ballsy, or a sign of just how good they normally are at hiding, so much so that they didn't have even the slightest doubt they could remain hidden despite being in the presence of multiple supernatural beings, at least one of whom has unknown sensory abilities (Molly is still mostly a mystery to the factions at this point, but if they know anything about her it should be that she possesses potent divinatory powers of some sort and is good at killing shit).

IIRC, this can't actually be Nemesis, as it's a disembodied presence/disease of some sort, and while Fey are often good at Veils and hiding in general, this seems a bit more than a simple Veil. Could it actually be a Walker?

COMMENTARY
- @DragonParadox
Molly just turned up multiple supernatural secrets.
That should activate +2 Essence regeneration.

-We just spent 3 Essence in the bathroom. If we spend 2 more, we'll glow.
Need to keep that in mind.

-Alright, things just got serious. Confirmed subverted:
a)Maeve, Winter Lady
Daughter of Mab. Fourth most powerful person in Winter after Mother Winter, Mab and the Leanansidhe, and Mab's most likely heir.

b)Aodh son of Luchtaine.
Luchtaine/Luchta is supposed to be the carpenter and wright of the Tuatha De Danaan. Along with his two brothers, who are also crafters, he is supposed to have made the weapons to battle the Fomorians in Irish myth.

His son would be very highly ranked.

c)Cathair, First of the Rawheads.
That makes him Eldest Rawhead, like how Arawn was Eldest Ankou. Rawheads are 12 feet tall humanoids, weighing roughly a ton and wearing a grey cape. In Cold Days, The Rawhead, presumably this dude, was part of Maeve's retinue trying to defeat Demonreach.

Which suggests that two of the Nfested are in Maeve's retinue, if not all three.

These are all people of power and influence among the Winter Fae.
Mab has issues.
Which means WE have issues.

-Again the Fomor show up in this mess.
And we haven't even been introduced yet.

-No, we dont tell Lara.
Because she believes there's Outsiders and Outsider allies in her Court, and her Court is compromised enough that someone apparently followed her to a meeting she arranged at short notice.

Until we can use one of her movies as a focus to scan for those, we keep our own counsel.

- *sees invisible creature under veil*

-Possibilities:
  • Bodyguard.
  • Spy.
  • Assassin.

Too close to be a bodyguard IMO, so its either a spy or an assassin.
Could be Fae, could be White Court. White Court cant do the Spiderman thing without equipment, so probably Fae.
Might be Winter or Summer. No idea.

Still probably a dupe obeying what it thinks are lawful orders.
Unless that's a surprise Denarian.

-It raises the question of how Lara Raith is under sufficient surveillance that a meeting arranged at short notice in a shop got a spy. She lives in a home that is presumably warded, even if she doesnt get a threshold.
That there is what appears to be a Fae here suggests one of several things:
=Someone invited a hostile Fae through her threshold and wards to listen to her
=She has a spy/spies listening to her communications
=There is a spy/spies listening to Molly's communications

We really should attack just the chance the say the note is to big a risk of the archive.
-Possibilities:
  • Bodyguard.
  • Spy.
  • Assassin.

Or it's Laura's hunger.

Seriously, that's the most likely answer IMO, that we're literally seeing the demon attached to her at all times.

Which means that attacking is out of the question:

Even if it's a spy, not killing the known spy is also a good idea, that way you can feed it the infos you want to manipulate what it knows, instead of having to search for the new spy that will be sent to replace it.

Her hunger would be inside her not floating above. You can see Lara as well and she too has a distinct aura, though it would take focus on both her and the other to tell if they are the same kind of aura or not.

Well then, shit.

Attacking gained some interest as a result, but since Laura is there as a member of the anti outsider organization, this may also be something to do with the archive, gaining info is still the best first move IMO.

Would it be worth the effort to try to surreptitiously signal Lara she has an unexpected guest?

That would be 4 motes spent total. I am always confused, is our max 3 or 4 dots spent before anima flare?

Also, this information might be enough for Mab not to automatically kill us for having the Crown.
We have spent 3 Essence in the bathroom.

1m= Tool Constructs to destroy the note
1m= Hellscry Chakra
1m= Crown question

If we use 2x Excellencies, we will have spent 5 Essence.
At that point, we will be glowing, and will presumably automatically fail the Watcher's Perception + Alertness.
You know, because aura of green glowing eyes.

-Mab was never going to kill us for knowing secrets.
I dont know where you got that idea from. We are hardly the only person around with enhanced intelligence gathering; the Archive has been around for five thousand years, and her intelligence-gathering is godlike.

No, I dont think so. We're not familiar with each other, and she doesnt know what signals from Molly mean.

And probably unnecessary anyway.
If the intruder Joins Battle, we almost certainly have higher Initiative than it does due to all our buffs(Demonic Guide, Windborn Stride, ATB), and get to act first. And Windborn Stride + Flight guarantees we can reach it and bodycheck or stab.

We can afford to take the time to ID it before acting.

Measure twice, cut once. You only, in the end, need to cut once. For all we know this is someone from the White Council spying on us. It could be a winter fae spying on the meeting that someone INSISTED happen before we met Mab. It could be Lara's security watching her back. It could be any number of things.

We should not attack until we know.
^^^
This, basically.

RATIONALE
Essentially, everything he said.
Worst comes to worst, if he notices us noticing him and chooses to attack, we have high enough Initiative due to all our buffs that we get to act first.

Normal Initiative = Dexterity + Wits + Roll d10
Molly Initiative = [Dexterity + Wits + Roll d10 + Demonic Guide 2 + Perception 3(All Things Betray)] *2 (Windborn Stride)

EDIT
Basically, unless it's a Denarian or a Walker, we go first.
And even if it was, we have a good chance of going first regardless.

===
Perception 3 + Occult 5 + Stunt 2 is 10 dice with a buff of -4 DC (ATB 3 + BSM 1) to identify the intruder.
Standard DC6 roll with a buff of -4DC translates to auto successes, basically.
Unless we botch every roll.

Manipulation 3 + Subterfuge 3 + Stunt 2 is 8 dice with a buff of -1 DC (BSM)
Opposed roll.
