Just seems a bit weird to me that she has such trouble remembering names when Greens have the cognitive capacity to do stuff like memorizing books by speed-flipping through the pages.

I have a ridiculously good memory able to effortlessly reference plot points from TV shows I saw years ago or reference specific page numbers of books to find info, but once forgot my best friend's name for an entire day.

Names are hard for some people.

She's also been relying on Sixiang for a while. It's something that could honestly fade away after a few months of adjustment and starting to actually put in the work to gather up the names, in which case it's fine, really?

As dire as it is in a way, you can compare Ling Qi to someone who got used to having a personal assistant, which indeed is one of the areas where the split with Sixiang came from, the blending of quasi-professional and personal combined with the blurring of emotional boundaries.

[X] Yes, so many potential ties are made difficult by the sheer distance involved, but not this. Knowing the White Sky is a center of research for the polar nation only makes it a better choice.

[X] No adding more factors is a poor decision, minor deals on the side can be made, but anything more intensive should come later.

I think this can potentially work if the WS wants it as much as we think they do. As in they're more than interested. Use it to exchange for stuff the MoI and the Meng wants. More imperial elements in the summit for MoI. Protection and resources for the Meng in the continuing development of the observatory. Tbh i don't really know what the Meng want, i saw someone say less nomad raiding and southern developments? The point is make the WS pay for access to the MoI and Meng, not us. And the fact that Glorious Oppression Mom are interested is a plus for me.

On the other hand i'll always be scared that every anti-MoI choice will be the point they decided they don't like this project that much. So i'm fine with either choice.

If we ignore all the diplomatic issues, we benefit from this doubly. First for the knowledge gain concentrated in our territory, but also in helping us with the mysteries of our beaver friends and their star creatures trouble.

Shenhua knows something we don't. Anyone who disagrees with us there but the woman herself, we can just laugh at. The nature of the data makes me think her designs for it are for a positive change rather than a negative.

If we do actually use the White Sky's desire for observatory access as leverage to negotiate for stuff the MoI will like later, then I'm convinced we can make this work in the long run. We just have to get past their knee jerk reaction of assuming that we're giving the barbarians yet more unnecessary concessions.

We have already kinda decided to go with the foreign quarters idea as one of the main obectives of the Summit, right?
It doesn't seem as such a stretch to add an astronomic wing to it where scholars can hold conferences, exchange texts and debate with each other.
That would make everyone more invested in the project and adverse to let it fail.

We could also frame it as a way to expand the Empire influence, culture and knowledge into the White Sky. Xin said that could be helpful to ease Cao Chun into supporting the Summit, or at least not condemning it.
If we add favorable conditions in exchange of access to the telescope like info on Yith-Ia and Starbeasts and maybe help in securing the supply routes the observatory would require to function that could earn the approvalof the General, the MoI and the Meng.

She was probably overthinking things, it was true. "We have already begun an idea, something like the Xuan's foreign quarter. Presenting a working blueprint of that, stripped down to the mechanical aspects. Do you think that would be something he could be sold on."

"If you frame it correctly. SOme see the Xuan as barely better than barbarians themselves, with the distance they keep. Cao Chun is not one of them, even if he might be influenced by that rhetoric."

"Wayward, and not foreign," Xin finished. "If I might add a suggestion, some implication that Imperial ways might spread will help you. That man's pride does not lie in himself but institutions, and he truly believes imperial ways and means bring the greatest safety and happiness."

Ling Qi found that slightly distasteful, but if it was an angle to be worked, it was what it was. She could understand it a little. They were enemies in their current aims, but they were both imperial.

Well looks like it is overwhelmingly 1st. It will probably hurt us going forward but at the end of the day we can take the hits as long as shenhua decides it is the best decision we could have made.

If yes wins we really need to knuckle down on regaining the rep that we will lose on it.
